The Cybergarden - Midwinter Edition

Hope this is Post No. 1001 equivalent, having just used up the thousandth space and feel I shouldn't ask Madmouse to organise the next one again.

Have just looked into summerhouse to check fire is burning gently, tray of [brew} organised by upward to turn into one's favourite hot drink of the moment is standing ready for visitors, along with a few pounds of chocolates from huge box sent by DSis. (Before DB eats any more today)

It's usually tianc, upward and hob who remember to be hospitable and also remember to send good wishes to previous visitors, including said madmouse and mouselet, kizzie and family, NanaNina, Butterpie and another name which eludes me just now, but am hoping you'll find your way to this new part of the Cybergarden
and continue visiting in the New Year, along with hob's time-travelling cat Her Felinity and her welcome associate ndt (next-door's-tom), who visit us quite often, bringing gifts of Thanks when they remember, instead of the usual dead rodents which they know are unwelcome in the cybergarden.

Have just had lovely large lunch, plus Skype visit from rest of relatives, so will have a little potter round RL garden, hoping all is well and welcoming now in cybergarden's summerhouse.

Am assuming you didn't have it with you at any hospital, and that no family or friends would do that, but I'm afraid that members of the public cut things out of books rather than risk possible prosecution for theft, as well as some shop assistants, of course. I'd be tempted to take it back to the shop, even if you don't still have the receipt, and make sure the management know that it's happened. I'd write a note to the magazine too, given enough spare time, and ask nicely if they could possibly send you the missing pages - am sure this will not be the first occasion it's happened.
Shame you're short of puzzles - if you like Sudoku I have lots of unused books from my pre-laptop days.

How very annoying, Upward. Think shodatin's probably hit the nail on the head, given it's the competitions. What a petty, selfish thing to do!

Oh shodatin I can see One Day At a Time in your name now! Marvellous!

Upwardandonward · 01/01/2012 17:11

Thanks shodatin, but I'm not short of puzzles, they don't seem to work well at the mo. I've got sudoko etc on my phone, which is cheaper than books.

Mmm, marshmallows

Upwardandonward · 01/01/2012 20:44

Here's some hot chocolate with edible glitter to go with the marshmallows.

shodatin · 01/01/2012 22:29

I've missed the hot chocolate! And a telly programme!
Just woken up at what used to be my bedtime, to find that most of the evening has gone. Sorry I've missed you too upward, but I hope there's some edible glitter left to have in a nightcap, because I'd no idea such a thing existed.
Hope you've had a peaceful and relaxing evening upward - you must sometimes wonder how you came to be involved with so many dormouse types on this thread, and I'm actually wondering now whether the other two, hob and Nilgiri, are actually still asleep.

OP posts:
shodatin · 01/01/2012 22:30

Actually. Sorry I put in one too many.

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 01/01/2012 22:32

There's hot chOc / glitter left.

I think doe mousing can be good, but I find if i let my sleep go other things do too

Night all

shodatin · 01/01/2012 23:12

Will say goodnight now upward, but would like to know where one buys edible glitter - no hurry of course - sleep well all.

OP posts:
Nilgiri · 02/01/2012 01:14

Many threads about edible glitter, shodatin - but they seem to dwell on the, ahem, inevitable outcome, so to speak... So I won't link in case you click at breakfast time.

Shame to have missed your telly programme - can you find it on iPlayer or ITV player? Wonders of modern technology and all that!

Sudoku on the phone, Upward? Hmm, if I tell DP, will he ever have time to speak to me again?

Hope hob's day has been as restful as possible, and MIL still comfortable.

Upwardandonward · 02/01/2012 08:28

I think i saw it on a discussion with about cupcakes.

Nilgiri , that sounds like a possible outcome, some are easier to use than others, some are very tiny numbers.

shodatin · 02/01/2012 09:26

Thanks for the hint Nilgiri, and no, I would not want to know at breakfast-time, but if they're selling it at Ann Summers I'll probably not make further enquiries. Cupcakes aren't my thing either upward, which is likely the reason I don't know about it.
Lovely fire indeed, and a good idea on these frosty mornings, along with soft rugs, however glitter-strewn.
Pause here while I fix necessary espresso, remembering other Brews and Biscuits for other people.
Hope hob's managing OK, and her MiL plus DH.

Afternoon all , with thanks for prettily decorated sustenance whilst have been in nestbox ( am quite sure this glitter is more likely to be found in Lakeland than Ann Summers , shodatin Xmas Grin nnd have missed threads about it ,
but DM did give us a Christmas cake with astonishing light blue glittery icing
,
Glorious sunshine here too , and hope all are able to watch something nice on TV and possibly have a few minutes outdoors today . ignores tatty front garden

Thinking of you upward and your determination in keeping on keeping on in recent days especially . Good point shodatin about staff / public cutting out competition bits from magazines , and I 've enccuntered that too .

Sympathies on continuing sleep difficulties and wondering whether perhaps new strategies could be suggested by a doctor overseeing your physical wellbeing ?

Ah , am the only one in cybergarden not good at jigsaws & even a bit daunted by sudoku , but have seen it cheer up people at otherwise rotten times so am a fan - heh Nilgiri , dh does a good job of managing to put down the portable version , but has been enjoying time on ancestry site , which I hope you'll feel up to also ( site closed the search facility during peak traffic Shock )

Had forgotten that lovely word Firstday, thank you , shodatin, and hope calendar turns up - am looking for two carefully stored items myself Brew all round Hope your energy levels are improving after hard work of Christmas hosting , *shodatin

< HF hops up to Nilgiri , looking serious >we don't want you to feel you should so regularly spend your precious energy writing your joyously posts < HF looks at shodatin here too > can we persuade you to take some extra rest whilst recovering from rough patch ? I know , you do work hard at resting ...

Thank you all so much for thinking about MIL and DH - 2 days of improvement due to ABs , but FIL ca't cope with her home for a while yet as he hasn't alet SS do any assessment so far ( about to change , phew ) . Worried about norovirus reaching MIL when hospital reopens to visitors , but apart from that , she is cheerfully living in her own mind nowadays and is happy being fussed over by the staff , which is amazingly fortunate

Hopee we all have pleasant afternoon

cityhobgoblin · 02/01/2012 13:01

Sorry for many typos I missed , aand for not having apologised for prololonged gap in posting .

"....joyously cheering and wise posts" , that should have said ... I think cybergardeners have been amazingly sage this month

shodatin · 02/01/2012 15:42

Hope the lost items turn up soon hob - it's so frustrating not being able to remember, but what I do recall is that I bought a miniature purse-size calendar but have no recollection of buying regular size, sooo o o... Hope there are some appointment-sized ones still in the shops when I get there tomorrow.
My usual remembering aide is to ask myself a question first thing in the morning, before brain is fully engaged and there's still space available - it's about the full extent of wisdom these days, but sometimes it does work.

Hope today's news from hospital is still encouraging.

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 02/01/2012 18:03

Glad you have sunshine, hob If I aww paych I ask her about sleep.

I hope you get a calendar of size you want, shodatin

nilgiri I hope you're ok.

shodatin · 02/01/2012 22:10

Having problems logging in just now, probably due to unplanned hours away in dormouse mode. Hope it's been a relaxing evening upward, and thanks for the good wishes. Just checking that fire is burning well in summerhouse, as stars so bright due to cold.

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 02/01/2012 22:16

Thanks shodatin ,I h

Upwardandonward · 02/01/2012 22:18

I hope I get sleepy soon. Seeking quiet.

cityhobgoblin · 02/01/2012 22:43

Hope you find quiet tucked up here , upward x

Will give you a bit of peace but am thinking calming thoughts - actually I am feeling a calming sense like at Meeting , so I hope you will feel it somehow ...thanks for telling me someone will enquire more about the sleep problems

You must be feeling very tired from recent difficult weeks and I'm sorry if you're struggling tonight . Hoping things get easier soon , even if that feels unlikely

ABs have worked miracles on MIL
< clinks hot choc with glittery flump or grape juice with upward>

shodatin · 02/01/2012 22:46

No problems sleeping here, but when I did, chamomile tea or good old-fashioned Horlicks used to work for me. Do you have anything like this in the house? Warm milk and honey supposed to work too.

Really wish I had an open fire again in RL - nothing like it for a lazy doze, but I don't miss the mess every morning.

OP posts:
cityhobgoblin · 02/01/2012 22:47

< creeps back in > sorry if I sounded as though I thought it was more stress than insomnia that was troubling you , upward.... the difficulties with sleep must be a vicious cycle , but hopefully helpful suggestions will be made by your psych

shodatin · 02/01/2012 23:29

That's good news about MiL, hob. We seem to have crossed recently, but am off to bed now as getting cold.

Hope you are able to slip into sleep upward, and have a proper rest without interruptions.

OP posts:
Nilgiri · 03/01/2012 02:32

Yes, definitely Lakeland for edible glitter - don't know what you're thinking of, shodatin! Xmas ShockXmas Grin

Post Xmas sales may be an excellent time to get a calendar - hope you find something you like. And I'm another one absolutely loving the word Firstday, which is completely new to me.

Upward, hope you've dropped off by now, and get a decent, quiet uninterrupted night. Lack of sleep throws everything else off, doesn't it? I do hope your psych can help with this - thank heaven you're seeing an actual doctor who can actually discuss drugs.

Nilgiri · 03/01/2012 02:39

(DP now sound asleep, but earlier asked me to say hello from him and wish you all good night.)

shodatin · 03/01/2012 10:45

Glad to hear from you again Nilgiri, and your kind and thoughtful DP, and wish you lots more spoons in the New Year, particularly for all the important stuff in your life - happy that you visit when spoons allow (and however did I manage without knowing about spoons).
I hope upward had a good night too, and not disturbed by gales. My "silver star" in front porch area was in bits on the drive this morning, so it must have been fierce here - have had it a couple of years, so don't mind binning it rather than struggling to repair.

Just made usual espresso and tray for self-service, but macaroons seem to have finished for this year, and only Biscuits left until someone shops again. (Awaiting energy from espresso to make list, get car out, hunt for calendar etc. as now out of habit after the break).
