The Cybergarden - Midwinter Edition

Hope this is Post No. 1001 equivalent, having just used up the thousandth space and feel I shouldn't ask Madmouse to organise the next one again.

Have just looked into summerhouse to check fire is burning gently, tray of [brew} organised by upward to turn into one's favourite hot drink of the moment is standing ready for visitors, along with a few pounds of chocolates from huge box sent by DSis. (Before DB eats any more today)

It's usually tianc, upward and hob who remember to be hospitable and also remember to send good wishes to previous visitors, including said madmouse and mouselet, kizzie and family, NanaNina, Butterpie and another name which eludes me just now, but am hoping you'll find your way to this new part of the Cybergarden
and continue visiting in the New Year, along with hob's time-travelling cat Her Felinity and her welcome associate ndt (next-door's-tom), who visit us quite often, bringing gifts of Thanks when they remember, instead of the usual dead rodents which they know are unwelcome in the cybergarden.

Have just had lovely large lunch, plus Skype visit from rest of relatives, so will have a little potter round RL garden, hoping all is well and welcoming now in cybergarden's summerhouse.

Thank you , lovely shodatin , well said about 8Nilgiri's valuable efforts .bah ... the very thought of Nilgiri* feeling she's not quite getting it right - well , if so , it's bound to be due to putting in huge effort & enthusiasm , or of course exhaustion / brain fogging (probbly due too former )ewhen she could for the
subject a course of action ...

Sorry you're suffering such discomfort-did the GP have any wise words at all? Could you have a temperature at the moment triggering the sensations ? Was that Mn board any help ? ( you've probably been too tired & busy to see , or perhaps I've got the cause wrong and it s caused bytreatment for your past horrible illness breastcancer.about.com/od/lifeduringtreatment/tp/hot_flashes.htm
couple more simple tips here
menopause.about.com/od/copingwithmenopause/tp/Hot-Flash-Tips.htm
I know you won't take any supplemnts without doctor/s confirming they're safe with your medications , but you may find something that works . Other boards on the net have excellent advice about cooling - hope this won't worry you - advises cutting caffeine , groan,

Hoping the gloom/mist will clear for us all

Really hoping you're a little better today , upward < and hope the tiring visit from cmht isn't too difficult after all - you must dread your ttiredness & discomfort being misread.

I must get on with the BotO - < puts out tinn of snacks & magicBrew >

Upwardandonward · 13/03/2012 11:24

I survived CMHT. I hope the BoTO goes well. I'm supposed to try to go back to day services later this week, too sore for tomorrow.

cityhobgoblin · 13/03/2012 11:27

good grief , -I promise no mistakes then I miss two surplus lines , sorry

cityhobgoblin · 13/03/2012 11:29

Ah , excellen news , thanks upward< cybrgarden medal for managing CMHT >
Thank you for good wishes

Blimey , tomorrow definitely sounds too early . Hope soreness improves & you feel up to at least modest amounts of some nice pasttime

shodatin · 13/03/2012 12:50

Thanks so much for helpful hints hob, and have indeeed had an initial survey, but most equate flushes with hormones and have previously proved this not so.
GP believes (?) it's side-effects of treatment/s and I don't know enough on subject but will continue looking at your sites, and thankyou. Thanks also for snacks and Brews.

Glad you managed HCP meeting upward, and can't help feeling hob's suggestion of modest amounts of some nice pastime might be more useful than dragging your painful body to day-hospital, but of course have to remind self that it's supposed to be for your benefit.
Any luck in organising some really delicious and special food while you're still at home and have so many choices?

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 13/03/2012 13:33

Thanks for the medal...unfortunately the wound impinges on one of my shoulders' movement, so I'm feeling limited apart from audio books.

Good luck to everyone for the reest of the day

cityhobgoblin · 13/03/2012 15:39

aaah , ouch , that is restrictive - so glad audiobooks exist now
. Thanks for trying to reassure us < Nilgiri-inspired icantation for speedy healing >

shodatin ,the first link - which has only one or two non-obvious suggestions - does suggest the heat sensation can result from treatment you may have had . Am sure there are many sources of advice , & will look nearer bedtime for any better links to torment you , as will be out this evening

Good day , thanks , but have fallen behin< bustles >

< HF & ndt bring apple blossom to upward >Brews

shodatin · 13/03/2012 17:37

Sorry to hear how limited in movement you still are upward, expect that only time is going to help here, as painkillers don't seem too effective.
Thanks again hob, and I appreciate your helpful links, but everry time I think I might have got somewhere, am advised to see GP, so have effectively given up hope of improvement.
Had a good afternoon today, despite gloomy weather, and hope everyone else had at least one good experience.

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 13/03/2012 18:13

Painkillers help a bit, I tried cocodamol today which was better.

I'm sorry you keep coming up against brick walls, shodatin :(

shodatin · 13/03/2012 21:36

Glad you're finding more useful medication for pain. I suppose you've tried a TENS machine at some point? and one of those dressings which are stuck on the area?
(can't remember names, just things I've had from pain clinic. I do remember being given painkillers when leaving hospital after an op, and never had to get up and go hunting paracetamol when shops opened on Sunday - it would have been useful if one of the many HCP's involved with your care had given it some thought earlier, as it's now days since the op and you're still suffering.

Thanks for sympathy, but I try not to think of health problems these days, it's just that hob's been helpful with some links new to me.

Wish I had a pet which brought me blossoms; our cat only brought in mice, which were not appreciated at all.

cityhobgoblin · 13/03/2012 22:49

Good suggestions as always , shodatin -so glad the new tablets have helped a bit, upwqrd , & thanks for updating . Hope you can sleep reasonably well tonight.

Oooh never fear , shodatin - am sure we can ferret out a useful suggestion or two which won't involve lots of effort to implement

Sorry for long gap , went to a meeting - impressed by the bright young people there , exploring alternatives to the way things are done at the moment
I too wish you coud have a blossom-bringing pet, shodatin < checks slippers for unwanted hunting trophies >

< ndt shyly presents shodatain with a glossy fuschia >
< stands guard for spiders >

shodatin · 14/03/2012 00:18

Hope you enjoyed the meeting hob, and are not too tired. Will make some Brews for nightcaps, hoping upward has not yet closed down for bedtime, and that perhaps Nilgiri will drop in on one of her night-time strolls.
Really appreciate the thought of a fuchsia from ndt, who does more than most pets with his spider-watching.

Not long before I'm off to bed, but wanted to wave a "goodnight" as I've been forgetting/dormousing recently.

OP posts:
Nilgiri · 14/03/2012 00:39

Ouch ouch for cybergardeners with pain. Upward I am Angry on your behalf that they sent you home without proper medication - and as shodatin says you're crawling with HCPs and none made themselves useful with this. I'd assumed the paracetemol was part of the docs' management plan - not you being left to sort it out yourself.Shock

Well done in surviving another day of the CMHT. That's rotten about the restriction in movement as well as pain.Sad What are the chances of trading down from day-hospital to another home visit, so they can tick you off without putting you through the mill?

shodatin so sorry you're not getting anywhere with relief. Hope you can find some way of managing heat problem that makes life more comfortable (would showering at different point in the day help? Though that may feel quite disruptive).

How brilliant that you got to meeting, hob, in the midst of your heroic BoTO and digging out lovely links for people!

So sorry you've been worried about me: I've actually been fairly well but have been spreading myself a bit thin. DP has suggested a couple of really lovely ideas (one's another holiday, since we managed so well last year), and it's been so wonderful to have positive things to work on that I've thrown myself into it with gay abandon. - and consequently made a serious and irretrievable mistake with Phase 2 of the Nasty Task last week. Ach well.

And it's also clearly affecting more important things, like posting here. Grin

cityhobgoblin · 14/03/2012 00:40

Thank you for goodnights , shodatin - you always make such efforts on here , at all times of day & however you're feeling or much many tasks you have

ndt is very fond of you & takes great pride in standing guard over your home at night , from a high up spot , & spider - chasing is a delight to him

Enjoyed the meeting , thank you - was atalk on activist women to belatedly celebrate International Women's Day

We also have a political movement much in the news this past year - a positive grouping - , expanding its activities in our community Smile

Very peaceful night , all

< puts pot of hot choc out for Nilgiri and night owls >

Nilgiri · 14/03/2012 00:43

Ooh, hot choc!

Thank you, hob! Goodnight all, hope we all get restorative sleep.

cityhobgoblin · 14/03/2012 00:47

crosspossted with your vonderful post , Nilgiri - incredibly sory about hatefully painful mistake , but it all seemed to be having such a difficult effect on you - such a sacrifice -that it seems inevitable that you'd need to reach out to do more things that could give you something to look forward to < mangles language >

I am certain some things are predestined ... < loses Nilgiri totally>
< ndt brings N ThanksThanks

Upwardandonward · 14/03/2012 08:15
Nilgiri · 14/03/2012 10:02

Oh dear, I imagine it can feel like a bit of a punishment having to go.

But does this mean they've agreed you can postpone the rest of this week? That would be a win - even with the annoying corollary.

cityhobgoblin · 14/03/2012 10:07

Sorry to hea that , upward - they seem very determined you get the full therapeutic benefits of the place , don't they , sigh. So sorry such a lot of stresses at the moment .

Thank you for hot choc , Nilgiri
Hope you slept well , shodatin

shodatin · 14/03/2012 10:25

Just overslept thanks hob, and feeling a bit behind.

Also feeling a bit unhappy for upward who gets another week of day-hospital, but think of all the people who'd be really grateful for so much attention from mental-health people, particularly the ones waiting month on month for any treatment to begin, or the ones who are really worried about treatment ending before they feel ready (like DB) who'd be really happy to have the extra week. (Hope this helps a bit).

Showering does go on at some odd times, Nilgiri, but daytime means phone calls/doorbell and too tired evenings. Other people have even more difficult lives of course, and am glad am still at home.
A good time for Brew I think, and will move floral offerings out of beagle's reach as have been known to part-eat daffodil flowers, which looks a bit odd.

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 14/03/2012 10:56

Sorry, the two comments were meant separately - I keep forgetting things/getting things wrong (perhaps lingering anaesthetic causes).

I am ok about another week of day services, I wont have any other easy way of talking about it all.

cityhobgoblin · 14/03/2012 11:58

Glad day hospital has positives upward, thanks for reassuring us , and sorry you've had a few cognitive difficulties after the anaesthetic

Many sympathies on lots of things going wrong at onceBrew

cityhobgoblin · 14/03/2012 12:00

Sorry - forgot to say I hope you feel as though you're catching up a bit , shodatin , and thank you for clearing up the mystery of the munched daffodils in my RL garden Grin

shodatin · 14/03/2012 13:25

Half the daffodil head eaten? Definitely hound-damage I think, used to happen annually but only the daffs.

Thanks for info re day-hospital upward, and glad you're alright with it, my misunderstanding, but agree with you about anaesthetic affecting memory, am certain mine did, although previous GP disagreed. Hope life is improving for you anyway, particularly sleeping part.
