Hope this is Post No. 1001 equivalent, having just used up the thousandth space and feel I shouldn't ask Madmouse to organise the next one again.

Have just looked into summerhouse to check fire is burning gently, tray of [brew} organised by upward to turn into one's favourite hot drink of the moment is standing ready for visitors, along with a few pounds of chocolates from huge box sent by DSis. (Before DB eats any more today)

It's usually tianc, upward and hob who remember to be hospitable and also remember to send good wishes to previous visitors, including said madmouse and mouselet, kizzie and family, NanaNina, Butterpie and another name which eludes me just now, but am hoping you'll find your way to this new part of the Cybergarden
and continue visiting in the New Year, along with hob's time-travelling cat Her Felinity and her welcome associate ndt (next-door's-tom), who visit us quite often, bringing gifts of Thanks when they remember, instead of the usual dead rodents which they know are unwelcome in the cybergarden.

Have just had lovely large lunch, plus Skype visit from rest of relatives, so will have a little potter round RL garden, hoping all is well and welcoming now in cybergarden's summerhouse.

cityhobgoblin · 11/03/2012 13:51

Sorry for many typos escaping my eagle eye ... more importantly , I thought my comments on your hard work & plans , upward, might sound insensitive ( as well as unlooked- for ) and so they are ... really sorry

Brews < further chomping on Nilgiri's supplies>b

shodatin · 11/03/2012 15:55

Another one here avoids still water, even water-butts without a lid were breeding mossies at one place, being next door to old greenhouse with some cloth arrangement containing what might have been comfrey leaves originally, but certainly smelt like compost. Of course, we don't have any biting or stinging creatures here, but even avoiding still water, have always had at least one toad or frog in every garden (Should know the difference by now.)
Hope upward has replaced paracetamol tablets by now, and has managed to have a relaxing day with some "Sunday"-type food, well, something a bit special to celebrate being back at home again.

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 11/03/2012 18:18

You don't need to be sorry hob

I got the paracetamol, resting for today now, feeling sore. I'll maybe get some more interesting food next week.

I hope everyone's had a lovely day.

cityhobgoblin · 11/03/2012 19:25

Thank you so much for your kind words , upward
Glad you got home OK & are resting , so sorry for soreness
< healing vibes from us all > - any chance you'll be able to take more tablets at bedime ?

Hope as you improve this week you will have a bit more fun & perhaps a few delicacies , as shodatin suggests

Very nice day here , thank you , as haven't yet got down to the hardest work of the day Blush Been summer here , I tell you ( though people in same road sparked up the barbecue for the first time weeks ago !)
Truly warm sunshine for garden tidying , going to tip etc

That's a thought , shodatin , growing some comfrey what an evocative scene you describe ... many mozzies round here already , plus bumble bees & honey beesSmile

I'm so pleased you've always had an amphibian companion- not so here
< hopeful >

shodatin · 11/03/2012 22:38

Hope the pain and soreness got easier as day went on, upward, and glad you were able to do some resting.

It was a beautiful day here, and warmer outside than in, although I was unable to spend too long in garden. We were persuaded to grow comfrey by the Henry Doubleday Research Association hob, who were convinced it was a wonder-herb, in the days when they were one of the earliest green gardening associations. I probably still have notes somewhere on experiments with companion plants, growing distances etc. and have lent out my instructions on how to build houses for hedgehogs on many occasions - great fun, some of the experiments, with very friendly newsletters, when we had a world-wide membership of around six thousand (only).

Hope you get at least one amphibian, even without a pond (which we rarely had, only water for bird-bathing/ordinary plant watering, still they came, even if only visible once a year, so maybe you do have one).

Missed my medication due to dormousing, so not feeling too well and will probably drift off to bed soon. Hope everyone has a decent night.

OP posts:
Nilgiri · 11/03/2012 23:35

Noooo, I don't mean to tell you off for dormousing on the sofa, hob! I just want you to be as comfortable and well looked after as possible - including giving you orders permission to look after yourself, otherwise you'll selflessly push yourself on (and sounds like you did!).

Hope all goes well with MIL's home care. Now that she's experienced residential care, maybe she can assess whether a longer term stay might suit her.

Sunshine and lunch in the garden here too! Hurray!

Oh yes, you mentioned your involvement with Henry Doubleday before, shodatin. Very impressed with your achievements. Sorry you didn't manage as long as outside as you might have liked, though, and even more sorry you missed medication.Sad Hope you sleep soundly and painlessly, and the meds are effective in the morning.

Ditto for Upward. Wishing you swift abatement of the soreness, and nights of refreshing sleep. Definitely time for cosseting and rewards to get you through.

Upwardandonward · 12/03/2012 08:17

Thanks for the good wishes :)

I've got up then taken my netbook and phone back to bed (hopefully for a quiet day).

Brew Brew Brew Brew

Hope everyone has a good day!

shodatin · 12/03/2012 09:31

Good idea to go back to bed upward, and hope you had a decent night's sleep. Also hope there's some help organised for food and other necessities, as this is the time you should be looked after while recovering.
Thanks for the Brew - am too late to do anything useful, and not a spoon spare for domestic chores, but appreciate others who are so considerate.
Apologies to Nilgiri for repeating self re HDRA, have got to that age, unfortunately, so please just ignore repeats whenever possible.
Sure I've mentioned "flushing" and high temperatures too, but it's now delaying getting dressed and getting to GP appointment, really inconvenient as showering makes it worse, as well as possibly making me late.
A beautiful day here however, so hope we can all have a few minutes outdoors - including upward after more rest this morning.

OP posts:
cityhobgoblin · 12/03/2012 09:42

Hope your bedrest aids healing , upward have a relaxing day , and thank you for posting Agree with you as always shodatin about upward being in need of assistance after op
Very sorry the flushes so disruptive , & amazed you managed t post despite rush to GP
So hope s/he has some useful ideas , as I believe you wouldn't be able to use hormone treatments ? < goaty toes for shelpful suapproach >

We'd really appreciate it if you coyuod mention the bruising you sometimes get , as the GP needs to know about that symptom -who knows , it might be connected - anyway , I'm sure you won't fall foul of the "one symptom per appt" thing if you slip in a mention of that ( sure I've missed your setting off now , sorry )

Sorry for lack of goodnight - am catching up with lovely posts

Just seen sparrows collecting nesting material in garden - there must be a Morris dance to celebrate that

cityhobgoblin · 12/03/2012 09:42

sorry for endless typos in rushBlush

cityhobgoblin · 12/03/2012 09:57

Obviously ot exactly the same as flushes ( or night sweats ) , but this is a good board-

shodatin · 12/03/2012 13:07

Thanks so much hob, wish I'd seen your post before having to leave, as I didn't mention bruising (had it for years anyway). There were 3/4 prescription additions/queries as well as mentioning last illness, which GP is convinced is another virus I've picked up as there were so many going about, and it was after all seven months since she visited house first time (and it would have been correct to call her out again, which surprised me). Another surprise was being asked if I'd like cholesterol and ? blood test, which have never had before, so have booked one (just because everyone else I know has had them).
Am feeling exhausted although only half-way through the day, and probably feel as upward must have done last week - one has to be well to survive attention from HCPs.

Hope you're recovering upward, and can enjoy using phone and netbook, even if unable to get outside just yet.

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 12/03/2012 14:00

I think I'll join you in feeling exhausted shodatin , it must be frustrating for you. I hope they find a reason.

I'm finding it hard to settle to anything for some reason, ah well.

cityhobgoblin · 12/03/2012 16:15

Hrg/archive/cliff/works/1984/women/index.htm

Glad you got to the GP's against the odds , shodatin , and am not surprised you are so tired after struggle to get there . Grin "One has to be well to survive the attentions of HCPs" so true
I meant to remind you last night , but am in some ways relieved that you say youv'e had bouts of bruising for several years - it iould mean a touch of anaemia or something . Hurray at cholestrol test at long last

Oh how tiresome you feel a bit restless, upward - could the op & anaesthetic have affected mood , hormones etc ? It is a frustrating state to be in . Hope you have someone to bring you meals , if you're up to eating , & please keep hydrated to aid recovery < HF vists upward & continues pouncing practice before settling comfortingly at upward's feet>

Oh yes -Indeed you should feel able to ask for a home visit , shodatin where there are issues of physical impairment/other health conditionsand an incapacitating illness
I didn't know you'd helped the research of the Doubleday project & wll look it up later , fascinating

Thank you lovely Nilgiri , I know you & kind shodatin are urging me to look after myself . I don't know why I put it as I did - I didn't feel at all told off
< sniffs at all the help >
< drinks a long draught from special flask aiding me in the BoTO >

cityhobgoblin · 12/03/2012 16:16

sorry , link not meant for here < recaffeination incomplete >

shodatin · 12/03/2012 17:39

I think feeling exhausted and restless is probable part of recovering from recent op, upward. Do you remember having difficulty concentrating after last surgery? I do, and a nurse mentioning that the most popular reading matter at that time were frothy magazines that didn't require concentration, and not many people could manage a library book. Actually it's been a long time since I could read a book, and have dozens by favourite authors still sitting on shelves.
Hope you feel better tomorrow upward, but afraid the rest might be necessary for a few more days.

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 12/03/2012 21:01

I know I shouldn't be thinking like this, but I don't want to see anyone from cmht at the moment (or anyone else, but no one else will come to my house, day services would phone). I don't need any more health stuff (and could do without the current, still hurts). If I tell them they'll want to know I'm ok, so asking them not to come tomorrow isn't the solution. .

:(

shodatin · 12/03/2012 21:07

Hope you're recovering a bit more now. upward, and are managing to eat properly, or at least enjoying some of the available food. Am assuming you've had stuff brought in or delivered, or someone to do cooking?

Forgot to thank hobfor the Brew earlier, as am usually in favour of caffein, and sure it would help in the latest phase of the BoTO.

OP posts:
cityhobgoblin · 12/03/2012 21:55

Seems entirely natural to feel like that , upward , & not negative of you to need a break .

Agree it might be easier in the long run to allow them to visit tomorrow , if you can more or less summon the energy - it seems you really doubt you can face it ? Perhaps you're having a bout of post -op depression < careful hugs so as not to cause further soreness >

Hope the op site is healing normally , if painfullySad. Are you trying to / having to get by with little in the way of painkillers , I wonder intrusively , hot chocBrew
Hopefully by Wednesday you'll feel a lot better

Thank you for extra caffeine , shodatin - a much more productive day today . Hope you feel OK after horrid morning & feeling rotten last night due to missed dose

< applewood on fire , hoping Nilgiri andbeagle ca join us in a comforting doze >

shodatin · 12/03/2012 22:38

I think you've just had a lot to cope with recently upward, and nothing wrong with just repeating that you feel too exhausted to be interested in seeing anyone at present. It would probably make difficulties if you were to actually refuse to see the cmht people, making them even more worried about your health, and as I remember, you'll be returning to the hospital soon to have the meds checked/adjusted and could try asking for a bit of peace and quiet before that happens!

Glad you had a productive dayhob, and hope some of it was enjoyable too. Lovely to have an applewood fire, and even better to have a friend and friendly hound to share it.
Disappointed not to view Venus and Jupiter together this evening, as most impressive at the weekend, but maybe the cloud will clear again for mid-week.

Nilgiri · 12/03/2012 23:56

Sorry people have been having such draining days. Think I shall frame wise shodatin's words, "one has to be well to survive attention from HCPs".

I'm not feeling at all wise today, so can I just offer lots of retrospective soothing Brew, current warm wishes and future strengthening vibes to everyone for the day just past and the day to come.

cityhobgoblin · 13/03/2012 00:40

Oh Nilgiri , you are wise to rare , rare dimensions , as well as razor-sharp of sharp of wit, though it may be a great struggle at times .Yyour extra supplies of treats & megaflask of tea , and all yourt kind wishes , have buoyed me all day

I was just looking at another thread whilst posting this & was delighted with your questions on a thread important to us all here , so , as PM still not working , please forgive me for thanking you here

healing thoughts & prayers , upwarde

peaceul night to us all - should be sunny tomorrow

< hound pads quietly over to plumped cushion >

cityhobgoblin · 13/03/2012 00:41

good grief , I just don't see the typos for looking - tomorrow , no mistakes !

shodatin · 13/03/2012 10:14

Had not noticed any typos hob, just that you've said exactly the right thing to Nilgiri, and that we are indeed grateful for all she manages to do for us (and others).
A misty morning here (and still struggling with own temperature) but hoping for sunshine and clear evening sky later.

Hope upward is feeling more recovered today, and able to have useful conversation with whichever HCP comes along.
