Hi @Tunneltiger Wow, 3.5 stones last year? That's incredible. At least you know you CAN do it and 5lbs so far is great - can't wait till I'm there.

I'm also doing dry Jan so with you on that - I'm going to try chilled sparkling water with a slice of lime when I don't fancy a herbal tea in the evening.

I'm having shakshuka eggs for lunch now, DH is cooking 😉

How did yesterday go for everyone? I managed fine, weighed most stuff to check calories.

Weighed in this morning and no change but I'm feeling good so not deterred. Want to wait to see what one week loss is!

Diegofrompennyburn · 08/01/2024 10:35

Weight loss not as quick as I'd like, but it's in the right direction!

Today:
scrambled egg with a dollop of fake caviar ( a good low cal protein burst)
Home made chestnut/parsnip soup, oatcakes w celeriac skordalia
Leftover jackfruit cakes (an attempt to make fake crab cakes, but they weren't great) made into a hash with kale and a fried egg.

Newnamebox · 09/01/2024 09:18

End of second week for me today and I haven’t lost nearly as much but it is still a loss and I’m feeling positive. I also suspect I’m retaining water due to my period.

Back at work and I’m not as planned with meals as I should be so will need to be careful that I don’t just grab the first thing I see when hungry.

MarshmallowWorld · 09/01/2024 09:24

I'm ovulating/post-ov whixh always makes me hold water. So I refuse to weigh myself until I feel better!
I've been doing well on low carb though I'll be challenged tonight as out for dinner.

Today I've had my first fatty coffee (butter and Mct oil today) and later I'll have bread made with ground almonds and flaxseed with scrambled eggs. Carbs should be at 10g prepared for going out tonight when it will all be ruined 😂 I've looked at the menu and I'm planning to go for fish with Holland side and new potatoes so I have some control over the carbs. The wine, however....

Diegofrompennyburn · 09/01/2024 10:48

Dry January here, as wine is always my F800 downfall.

but no big weight losses just yet. Though I feel less bloated

cabbage pappardelle with Gorgonzola and walnuts tonight. It’s lovely, I’ve had it before, but blimey at over 500 calories it leaves little room for manoeuvre the rest of the day.

Newnamebox · 10/01/2024 13:18

Hope the pappardelle, Gorgonzola and walnuts were good @Diegofrompennyburn and you managed your dinner out @MarshmallowWorld.

I’m plodding along. A slight further drop on the scales today. Just had scrambled eggs for lunch. Sausage spinach ‘lasagna’ on the menu for dinner.

Diegofrompennyburn · 10/01/2024 16:25

Cottage cheese for breakfast. Crudities and humous for lunch. Tofu stir fry for dinner.

mumumumumummm · 12/01/2024 07:54

@Diegofrompennyburn How are you getting on? And do you have a recipe for that cabbage and gorgonzola???? Sounds lovely!

I've just hit the one week mark and I've lost 1kg. My super-tech scales tell me I've lost fat and not water or muscle. I hope this is true! I have managed some exercise.

1kg is great for me so happy here and plodding on. We have friends staying this weekend but I've told everyone I'm doing dry Jan so that should help.

Definitely motivated for week 2.

Weight loss is till very slow, but at least it's heading downwards!

Cabbage dish is p74 of the keto (orange) recipe book:

For 2:
toast 30g walnuts in a dry pan. set aside
warm 1 tbsp oil and add half a cabbage, shredded. I used sweetheart, but any would do, Saute till wilted.
Stir in a sauce made from 70g creme fraiche, 50g blue cheese, 1 tbsp cider vinegar (I used sherry vinegar as it's a bit less sharp)
Add in 1/4 pear, chopped.
Mix together till warm, serve with the walnuts and the other 1/4 pear on top

Today's menu:
carrot and orange ginger shake
tofu and miso soup
green vegetable gratin (keto book again, using up that creme fraiche!)

Dry January here too, I have an AF GnT to sip this evening.
