Static this am. But I’m always slow & did eat a rather large bowlful of nuts. Hey ho. Going on a big dog walk shortly and will re-plan my food this week & think how I can avoid huge nut intake in the evenings. I’m getting worse, but at least it’s not booze!

PhoenixMama · 07/01/2021 12:38

Morning all! Great loss @Nonononon!

I'm down another half lb this morning which is good. I generally make Friday my official weight day so I'll measure tomorrow as well. That for me is the best part of losing the bloat is that I lose inches too.

Yesterday we tried the cod bites in the Fast800 cookbook and they were really delicious & very easy. Def recommended.

Did Day of Adriene today and it was bloody painful! Finding this round of 30 days harder than previous ones!

PhoenixMama · 07/01/2021 12:43

Did Day 6 of Adriene - typos!

Nonononon · 07/01/2021 16:11

Meals today were/are;

Lunch: salad and tomatoes with chicken drumsticks, cheese, jalapenos and coleslaw.

Dinner: little beef mince in gravy with carrots and onions and some sweed mash.
(Dd wanted a cottage pie..)

Did 1st day of yoga with Adriene and had an hours walk. 😇

PhoenixMama · 07/01/2021 21:05

Closing the kitchen at 841 so I'm happy with that. Very tired today though. Also a little bunged up, which is impressive given that I'm drinking such large amounts of water!

Early night tonight, tomorrow is my 'official' weigh & measure day so let's see what's happened in week 1!

Nonononon · 07/01/2021 21:21

Ooooh excited for you @PhoenicMama Grin I bet you've done great!!

Had my first semi official weigh in and am down 2.8lbs, 0.5 BMI and 0.8% body fat (according to probably unreliable home scales!) in the first 5 days. I'm happy with that, it's the most I've lost in a week ever I think! I've got about a stone (and preferably a bit extra) to lose and this feels manageable now.

I've really surprised myself that I've been able to do a whole working week without any starchy carbs. They are literally my life! I've been really proud that I've been able to cut those out this week. That won't be a sustainable life change for me but as a control measure for a period of time to try and get my portion sizes and cravings under control I think it'll be great. Not least to realise I don't actually need pasta, bread or rice with every meal!

Good luck for your weigh in today @PhoenixMama. @Kimlek don't worry about the impact of the nuts - they are at least nutritious snack items so your body got something nourishing from them, and longer term the weight number will be a mere blip. Have a great day everyone!

Coconuts2020 · 08/01/2021 08:33

I am so disheartened today. I have religiously written everything down and kept well within calorie totals, written down every glass of water using Noom. I really like the app and in the first few days thought I was back on track with weight going down well again.

Yesterday, up 3lb and today another 0.8lb. Whhyyyyyyy?!?!!!!!! I already don’t eat so much stuff, don’t eat bread/pasta/other obvious carbs already, don’t eat dairy...my weakness is chocolate but I haven’t been inhaling it in the evenings 2020 style. I’ve been not eating until 12 and finishing when my kids have their tea between 5-6pm.

This is insanely depressing. This is why people give up! I don’t want to give up and I’m sure if I keep going over a long period of time it’ll work...but right now it feels rubbish.

Coconuts2020 · 08/01/2021 08:34

Have any of you had something like this and how did you get over it?

Nonononon · 08/01/2021 09:22

Oh @coconuts2020 that's so disheartening, thing is though, if you've been sticking to a calorie deficit theres just no way you could have gained any fat.
What I would do if I were you is maybe have a week where I just ate veg (loads!!) meat, fish, olive oil and eggs. Try no more chocolate if you can, even just a few squares of dark chocolate if you like that to get you through a craving. You're already doing TRE/IF and drinking plenty of water so that's good.
Could it be a hormonal change/time of the month? As I said it wont be fat and should just flush out again so dont be worried but I know how gutting it is to see the scale go up when you've been doing everything you can to get it to go down Sad

Nonononon · 08/01/2021 09:40

I just had a look at my last weigh in on mfp which was December 18th, I actually gained 9lbs over the Christmas and new year period 😱🤣 BUT I have lost a lb since yesterday and I'm 5lbs down in 3 days, so I'm guessing it was mostly bloating.. I'm quite overweight so it's just pouring off atm. I'm not sure how to explain my weight losses and gains with the Christmas period in between but I'll try my best. I was too embarrassed to post it but I think it'll keep me accountable if I do so here goes...

Starting weight;
17/11/20; 14st 5lbs (😳) (first started fast800)

Got to;
18/12/20 13st 2lbs

Christmas/new year happened
2/1/21 13st 11lbs 😑 so +9lbs 😳

Current weight;
13st 6lbs

So still officially 13lbs down over all from when I started in November.

From now on I'll use my starting weight and recent current weights as a weekly marker. Tuesday will be my official weigh in day.

Just finished day 2 of yoga with Adriene, its mushy snowing here today so not sure if a walk will happen, if not I'll do some HIIT at home.

Will post food later, not sure what I'm having but a beef burger wrapped in lettuce is sounding nice...

PhoenixMama · 08/01/2021 11:43

Morning all!

Lot's going on today!

@Coconuts2020 I don't know how Noom works because I use MFP but can you share your macros? (Carbs/Fat/Protein) Calorie totals are one thing but whats more important are macros and if you are having chocolate every day that will impact your results I'm afraid. (Some people can have one small piece of dark chocolate every other day but for others that sends their sugars up too high).

Also how much water are you drinking? You need at least 3L of water a day to flush your system properly and need to be having more salt than you're probably used to. I also started using a magnesium spray as that helped too.

I know I've had times where I've gone up temporarily but been very strict and it's come off in the end. You can't have gained 3lbs of fat overnight so it's most likely to be heavy on the water. If you share your macros we can help.

@texican Amazing work! That's so good.

@Nonononon Well done for sharing and for great losses - you're almost a stone less than November even with xmas in the way!

I did my weigh in this morning and the scale's barely moved since yesterday but that still means I lost 5.2lbs this week. The best bit is I've lost 5.75 inches! Including 1.5" off my waist. I think inches make me happier than lbs lol.

I know this will slow down soon but I want to take advantage of the early losses before I go back to around 1lb a week because mentally that was so much harder.

My run is done and I did Adriene so feeling ok this morning.

Have a great day everyone!

Coconuts2020 · 08/01/2021 11:53

That inch loss is great!

I don’t eat chocolate every day - I only eat v dark chocolate and haven’t had any recently - I have genuinely been religiously sticking to calories. Good point about macros but I don’t know, it doesn’t work that out for me as far as I can see. I don’t eat any other types of sweets. I’ve eaten chocolate and cake in 2020 which is where this weight comes from.

I drink water constantly - usually 3-4l per day. I don’t drink any other kinds of drinks.

I am vegan so don’t eat meat or fish but of course can replace with a veggie equivalent. I mainly eat veg, nuts may be my downfall? But can’t take them away because of how much else I don’t eat!

I don’t add salt to anything. Do you? I hadn’t considered that.

I have lost this weight before so I know it is possible but it is so infuriating! No salt no other drinks than water, I sound so boring Grin

Nonononon · 08/01/2021 17:48

Well I've had an absolutely awful day. Started off well then dds dad (ex) started with his shit so I've been up a height since about 11am. Really wanted some wine but didnt give in. Still feel awful and will probably have a crap nights sleep becuaee of it all on top.

Anyway still stuck to the plan, shit will happen along the way eh?

L: egg salad
D: cabbage and left over mince in gravy (think meat part of a cottage pie, left over from yesterday)

I really wanted a burger but didnt have lettuce in. Will go shopping tomorrow.

PhoenixMama · 08/01/2021 19:10

@Coconuts2020 I think maybe try tracking on mfp for a week or so and track your macros then that will really help you figure it out. When you know percentages of protein, fat & carbs you'll really be able to see. And I add salt to almost everything - makes a huge difference with the water weight!

@Nonononon Well done for sticking with your food - it's tough when we're emotionally on edge!

I'm craving wine massively given that its Friday but there is none in the house so lucky there!

Homemade pizzas tonight (using tortillas!) My fave Friday treat!

funtimefrank · 08/01/2021 20:19

Hello, can I delurk and ask some advice.

I started fast800 on Saturday. I know appetite subsides but I have totally lost it. I'm making myself eat to get up to 800. Food is just a bit dull (although I've had some really nice stuff this week).

Anyone else have no interest at all? Day has been very stressful work wise but that usually makes me binge.....

Nonononon · 09/01/2021 07:55

@funtimefrank yeah my appetite goes right down too, I get hungry around meal times but dont think much about food any other time. If you're doing low carb/keto too that'll be responsible, just make sure you're eating enough and enjoy not being starving all the time. Itll make the the process much easier and I find it freeing to not constantly have food on my mind.

I'm another lb down this morning I cant believe it Grin so 6lbs down since Tuesday (four days) so I'll definitely get to my goal of losing 7lbs in a week, 9lbs would be better as that would mean all the Christmas weight gain will be off and I'll be starting back where I was before Christmas.. but we'll see!
Tried a keto stick this morning and it changed colour so happy about that.
I'm now officially a full stone lighter than i was when I started this in November.

Feeling much better today. So I'm glad I didnt give in to the stress of yesterday.

Coffee then yoga with Adriene day 3.
Will post food later, going shopping today so looking forward to getting some nice food.. I might look for a keto soup recipe could do with that today.

Have a good day everyone!

Coconuts2020 · 09/01/2021 08:56

I’m going to duck out of the thread just to avoid de railing it as you are all doing so well! Good luck everyone, I will lurk to keep up with your inspiring losses!

Coconuts2020 · 09/01/2021 08:59

Oh just seen your updates, thank you - I will go back to MFP to investigate. I spent a long time reading/reminding about nutrition yesterday and I think you’re probably right! Never even crossed my mind about salt so will look into that too. Congratulations on keeping going!

texican · 09/01/2021 09:50

@Coconuts2020 don't leave us. Even if you're not losing at the moment, you will and being on here means you're able to share your - justified - disappointment rather than risking eating it! (Speaking for myself!). Investigate those tweaks and keep on keeping on. There's no way you can't lose weight long term with such a calorie deficit, your body may just be reacting to the change by holding on to what it has for now. It will change.

I managed to resist wine last night which is the first wine-less Friday for longer than I'd like to guess. I'm going to try for this weekend and next completely alcohol free so I've had a good run at it and then attempt moderation for the third weekend if I'm happy with where I am. I probably would try and push on to the end of Jan but my birthday is in that third week so it's making me wonder if relaxing for a few days would be best. I'll see how I feel when I get there.

Happy lighter Saturday! I certainly feel better (less bloated, less hungover, ironically less hungry!) than I did a week ago!

PhoenixMama · 09/01/2021 10:20

Oh @Coconuts2020 Don't go! Stalling is all totally lost of the process & we all need to be able to come on here & complain or worry it's not going how we want it to.

I had so many plateaus last time (one for almost 3 weeks) but this thread kept me going and then I got my whoosh! It will happen as long as you don't give up.

I had a mini whoosh this morning - despite being slow to move more than half a lb at a time this morning I woke up to a 2lb loss. (Tmi - I'm not bunged up any more either so that must mostly be poo) Blush

That's 7 lbs so far and means I'm only 8lbs away from my lowest weight to date. I wasn't sure how long I was going to do this round for but I think I'm going to commit to 8 weeks (with 1 or 2 days of for birthdays/celebrations). So this month to get back down to my lowest and then next month to lose the last 9lbs I haven't been able to beat. After 8 weeks I'll decide if I do a whole 12, last time I did 16 but that last month I hardly lost & it was really demoralising!

@texican Well done on the wine - that's one of my biggest weaknesses!

@funtimefrank That doesn't happen to me much, well for prolonged periods it doesn't, but Def have days where it does. Just make sure you're still eating 600-800 Cal's or you could see your body start holding onto fat again.

MysweetAudrina · 09/01/2021 14:16

@Coconuts2020 have you gone to the loo properly in the last few days. Low carb always makes this hard (pardon the pun) for me and I find once I do eventually manage that as well as feeling much lighter I weigh much lighter.

I got to about 4pm Thursday and gave in to the box of Lindor salted caramel balls that I had hidden in my wardrobe over Christmas. I had 3 eaten before I realised what i was doing and as Thursday night is takeaway night in our house I also succumbed to a beef with black bean sauce, fried rice and chips. Got back on track yesterday so not feeling to bad about it.

OP posts:
Nonononon · 09/01/2021 17:13

Well I've had a delicious day. Probably over the 1000 cals I'm aiming for but not a lot and it was worth it. Dd is at her dads and I'm home alone watching my favourite series.

L: 1pm, hot smoked salmon fillets with half an avocado and salad leaves.
D: 5pm, hm beef burger with 30g of cheese, onions, jalapenos all wrapped in lettuce, I made my own guacamole with the other half of the avocado to go with it and it was lovely. Like a Saturday night treat.

We had loads of chocolates here that dd got for Christmas, I took them to her dads today so they're out of my house. Dd isnt a huge fan of chocolate so she doesn't mind and she can still have some when shes there. Its best they're out of my reach..

Didnt get out for a walk but plan to early tomorrow morning, did day 3 of yoga though.

funtimefrank · 09/01/2021 19:45

Thanks for the comments.

Still not hungry today but more appetite iyswim. I made myself an immense fakeaway today - tandoori king prawn kebabs and saag which are my favourite things from the Indian (usually with heaps of rice/bread and poppadoms).

Calories a bit higher than most of the week - about 850 to kind of make up for the lower couple of days but still not exact high!
