Closing the kitchen at 814 cals and very full (mostly for the 3L of water I've drunk today!) Still have a headache but I think that's the lack of booze and sugar! Think I'll have an early night tonight!

MysweetAudrina · 04/01/2021 08:54

I'm going to try for 2 800 days this week to get myself back into the swing of it and calorie count the other days just to track my intake. Today I will go for 800. Thinking smoked salmon and avocado for breakfast/lunch and steamed salmon with lots of stir fried veg for dinner. Will probably have a few squares of dark chocolate too as don't think I can face full carb turkey today. I did my morning yoga class and will hopefully get out for a walk later. Lots and lots of water coming my way today.

Hi everyone - can I join in?

I've had success with 5:2 in the past, so have started Fast 800 on the 1st January. My plan is to stick to 800 every day until I've lost the 15lbs I need to in order to get into healthy bmi and then introduce more non fast days. By putting it on here I'm attempting to make myself accountable!

PhoenixMama · 04/01/2021 11:37

Morning all! Welcome @Summer15coming!

@MysweetAudrina I so envy you being able to mix it up I'm way too all or nothing!

Down 1.4lbs this morning so trending in the right direction. Have done C25k W2D1 and Day 3 of 30 days of yoga which I'm loving again.

Had the flu jab this morning so will be interesting to see how I feel later this week. First time round I had the most awful Keto Flu from about day 4 - 9, at least this time I can blame it on something else lol.

Today's menu is 2 eggs for breakfast, chicken soup for lunch and then courgetti with pesto, goats cheese & pine nuts from the BSD Cookbook.

Hope you all have a good day!

MysweetAudrina · 04/01/2021 19:36

@PhoenixMama I'm completely an all or nothing person, take last Monday for instance, I drank twice since March and my ds and his new gf ( not in UK so different rules on visiting) came over to see us and I ended up polishing off 4 bottles of Prosecco and then pulling the place apart until I found a bottle of white wine which I mixed with 7up. I'm the same with sugar but could only face committing to today but once I have today over I will be stronger tomorrow lol.

I managed to lose 2st from Oct - Mid December and reached my healthy bmi so determined to get back to that once I can face the scales to see the damage I have done. Off up to do a restorative yoga class as at least that's an hour I won't be tempted to eat.

I've come in at about 670 for today so happy with that.

Evening all, good to hear of successes already this year! Kitchen closed here on 646 calories. Slightly under calories today and macros slightly out but thought that would be the case due to the nature of my meals today. The rest of the week's meals should even it all out but will keep an eye on it.

Tuna salad for lunch and turkey meatballs with veg and salad for dinner which were lovely.

Also have bought some keto sticks as a bit of a novelty so will enjoy playing with those over coming weeks!

PhoenixMama · 04/01/2021 22:29

Well closing the kitchen in great despair at 730cals. Still have a headache but that's probably stress related to lockdown and homeschooling. Definitely didn't pick the right time to give up carbs and booze!

Kimlek · 05/01/2021 00:20

Agh!! I’ve just eaten 4 mince pies!!
4!!!

MysweetAudrina · 05/01/2021 08:26

@PhoenixMama it's the perfect time to give them up. They are false friends and at least by doing this you regain some control over your life which is important I think when so much seems to be outside our control. Here's to coming out of lockdown stronger, healthier and better.

OP posts:
PhoenixMama · 05/01/2021 08:39

@Kimlek I don't blame you, if I'd had some in the house last night I would have done the same! Today's a brand new day!

@MysweetAudrina You are totally right! In fact I know if I'm being totally honest they make me feel worse so while it would be easy to have had a drink last night, ultimately sitting with my uncomfortable emotions was a better choice.

The good news is I'm down another 1lb today taking it to 4 this week and back to a number that while it doesn't make me happy it also doesn't disgust me!

DD and I made a list last night of things that worked in the last lockdown & things we'd like to focus more on this time round and we made a list of activities: yoga/walk/run/home workout and every day we're going to do at least 2 (I'm always going to do yoga as one but she wanted more options) hopefully that will help with the headspace.

Yoga day 4/30 done and now to go put away the xmas decs!

Kimlek · 05/01/2021 09:19

What a lovely idea phoenix I’m going to steal it and ask mine. Albeit I know the smallest will say baking donuts. Cooking just doesn’t do it for her - it’s always baking! We only did day 1 with Adriene as had no yoga mats and whilst the carpet was fine it looked like we had cellulite knees afterwards. The mats arrived last night so...
I’m 10.2.0 so that’s ok despite the mince pies. I’m ignoring the blip. I’ll have a stuffed pepper for lunch & salmon with samphire for dinner.

MysweetAudrina · 05/01/2021 10:34

I have had a morning yoga practice for the last 3 years. Up until March i used to leave my house at 6.15am every morning to park my car in the office car park and attend my 7am yoga practice. In March my studio went online and I found it hard for the first couple of weeks to get into it but since then I have created a lovely space and have religiously attended my morning class. I have to say it has been the best thing for my mental health and it means I start each day off on the right foot. Also sine losing the weight from doing fast800 last year my poses have really improved. I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs to feel a bit more grounded and centred and of course the physical benefits are great too. I knew under all those layers of fat that there was a toned body in there somewhere and it is great to see it emerging.

Arrrgggg craving sweets. Not going to but still. So hungry today!

Nonononon · 05/01/2021 17:34

Hi everyone!!

Oh sorry I thought the thread was quiet hence why I was thinking of making a new one Blush

Well.. I buggerd up over new years too 🙄
But back on it as of today.
I've decided I'm going to do things a little differently just to make it easier on myself.
Still no carbs/sugar. Intermittent fasting (20/4) and two meals a day, no snacking obviously. But I wont be counting calories religiously, I can pretty much eyeball how many calories are in foods now. And truthfully, with the new lockdown, homeschooling my 6 year old (single parent) and not working. I cant be bothered. Will aim for max 1000 calories a day, cant be doing 800 with all this going on.

Today was.

L: Ham and cheese salad
D: Pork steak with kale.

Two coffees and water water water.

Trying to get dd out on an hours walk each day and I will be doing the 30 days yoga with Adriene too. I did taht back in the summer but only got half way through. I need something to keep me sane with all this going on.

PhoenixMama · 05/01/2021 20:25

So annoyingly I'm almost over today - the calories in the BSD cookbook are about 145 less than MFP is saying. So we'll have to see where I end up in the morning.

Tired and hungry today but that's probably more stress related to lockdown. I'm also a single parent but my dd is 11 and she's not starting online school till Monday so banging my head on the wall right now lol.

Turning in shortly so hoping tomorrow's better!

Coconuts2020 · 05/01/2021 21:48

Writing down is definitely helping me stick to things. Yes you’re right about needing to measure when it’s only 800 calories, I thought I could eyeball it roughly based on my 500 calorie 5.2 knowledge but obviously not! I am also vegan and things like nuts just eat up all the calorie allowance in one mouthful! I know low carb is hard when veggie and so perhaps this isn’t for me but I will keep trying for a little bit longer.

I am now thinking that I should go back to 5.2 however because of the school closures - as I’m now with my children almost every day and will be cooking for them which I find really hard. I find it easy to eat nothing all day and save it up for one meal 5.2 style but I think I will struggle with the constant temptation this way. If we get up and out straight away and are busy doing something like a walk outside or if I am at work I am not hungry but if I am at home then it is like constant temptation.

texican · 06/01/2021 06:48

Day 2 was done yesterday at around 800 which I was happy with. Scrambled eggs and two Heck chicken chipolatas with salad for lunch and then a cod and chorizo butter bean stew for tea with carrots. On the higher carb side, but given my usual total carbs in a day, I feel that easing myself in semi gently is probably safest. Still around 50g I think so not too bad.

@MysweetAudrina I love that phrase 'false friends'. It completely encapsulates both the positives I get from them (alcohol and bad-for-me foods) and the subtle dangers of them as they creep into your life.

@Coconuts2020 I was exactly the same when I did 5:2 - after a few weeks of getting used to it I only ever did one meal in the evening rather than meals through the day and I found it fine. That's why I kept failing when trying to restart during lockdown - working from the kitchen table has made waiting until the evening to eat basically impossible for me. It's the main reason I'm doing this approach now, and going for a lunch and dinner meal a day which feels more realistic at the moment.

Have a good day everyone!

Nonononon · 06/01/2021 08:38

Yes now is a good time to be doing this diet and resetting my alcohol consumption, I drank far too much over Christmas and new year, a shameful amount actually and I need to nip that in the bud. Especially now I'm mostly going to be at home alone with dd, tempting just to have a drink on an evening which could tip into having a glass during the day... It's a vicious cycle.
Last lockdown I came out in a right state, mentally and physically and I WILL NOT be doing that this time.

Weighed myself this morning and I'm 2lbs down since yesterday Shock so I'm hopeful I'll get the "holiday weight gain" all off in a week.
I have 2st to lose in total. I will love to have gotten 1st (or more, obviously Wink) off by the time dd goes back to school mid February.

Not sure what I'm going to eat today but I have plenty in so will update later. Just having a coffee right now.

Hope everyone has a good day today!!

Kimlek · 06/01/2021 08:44

Well done everyone! Having kids and DH all at home feels like all I do is prepare bfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack. Crikey they eat for England! I have to be mindful that it doesn’t go into my mouth along the way.
All good yesterday bar the copious amounts of nuts, seeds and dried cranberries. Wanted something sweet and that was a better option than mince pies. But I had way too many! I am pleased with the no drinking. It’s been 18 days now! 🤗
Weight static again this am at 10.2.0
I’ll have a stuffed pepper for lunch; tuna and veg for dinner. No nuts, seeds or cranberries!

PhoenixMama · 06/01/2021 10:15

Morning all!

Only half a lb down this morning - that'll be the extra cals from yesterday. Will make sure I enter food in MFP before eating anything else!

@Nonononon I also drank WAY too much in December, especially over Christmas, actually feeling so much better without it.

Done C25K W2D2 and Day 5/30 of Adriene this morning so feeling pretty good. My mental health is so up and down at the minute though. One minute I'm fine, the next minute I burst into tears.

Good news was I caught a glimpse of myself naked earlier and my stomach already looks better - I was so bloated from all the xmas food and drink - will be relieved to get back to not hating myself when I look in the mirror!

Nonononon · 06/01/2021 12:09

Ok so just had lunch.

100g of smoked salmon with scrambled eggs in a little butter (x2 eggs) and half an avocado.

Dinner will be spicy chicken legs with curried cauliflower rice.

Dd is just finishing her lunch then we're going out on a walk. I'm gonna do yoga tonight (around 6pm).
Homeschooling all done today; I know that's not in the theme of the thread but it gives me a sense of achievement so I'm putting it here anyway Grin

Coconuts2020 · 06/01/2021 17:24

Congratulations- that is def an achievement!

MysweetAudrina · 06/01/2021 18:48

Can't believe I haven't put on more weight over Christmas. Took the plunge and weighed myself this morning and I am only up a few lbs. It's a bit nuts as I went from 800 a day to about 3,000.

Had smoked salmon, apple, celery, cheese and nuts for lunch

2 squares of green and black salted caramel 70% velvet edition chocolate for lunch

And having chicken, pepper and onion skewers with some salad for dinner.

OP posts:
texican · 07/01/2021 07:37

Homeschooling is always a massive achievement, every day!

I also drank far too much alcohol over Christmas. And ate too much food....but enjoyed it all so I can't regret it too much.

Starting day 4 today and have checked my ketostick and to my delight it's started to show a colour (still quite light but I'm taking it!). I'm also down 2.3lbs which is motivating even though I know it's likely to be all water. Even getting rid of some of the retained water will help me feel less bloated which helps anyway!

Today's food - have planned to have cottage cheese and salad for lunch and then turkey chilli stuffed pepper and salad for tea. After a slight dinnertime ingredient Disaster, I think yesterday was more 1000 cals but I'm really trying not to obsess too much as anything in that range is so much less than I was eating and it's only week 1.

I think today might be my day of headaches and feeling a bit foggy, so will keep an eye on that.

Have a great day all! Star

Nonononon · 07/01/2021 09:01

Morning everyone!

I've lost another 2lbs 😱 so that's 4lbs in two days 😁
Like you @texican I know it will just be water but it's good to get it off my body, that's 4lbs of water that I otherwise would have been carrying around, making me feel all bloated and wobbly. So I'm glad to see it gone.

I have some keto sticks too and I will test them out on Saturday after four days, should get a colour then, I like using mine too.. they almost spur you on when you're having a weak moment 🤣

So feeling good, no keto flu yet, not tired, yet. But it will probably come at some point. It is only day 3 after all..
I didnt start my yoga yesterday but will today.

One thing I like about homeschooling is not having to do the school runs, I hate those, not the dropping off at school part, just waking up before I want to get up and all the rush first thing in the morning.. I am not a morning person.. I really struggle to go to sleep early, I've tried all sorts of ways but just cant get to sleep before 12am (at least) so at least now I'm getting a full 8 hours every night as I'm not having to get up at 7am. They say more sleep is better for weight loss too, we shall see..

Will update food later, coffee right now.

Hope you all have a good day!!
