This morning has been harrrd! Went for a lovely frosty walk for 1hr+ and when I came home I did feel a bit wobbly. Drank plenty of squash and coffee and now feeling a bit better so helpful to recognise that even when hunger makes me feel like I'm going to die, I won't actually die Smile

We had a lovely 'naked' burger last night too, and have a roast chicken on the cards for later today with loads of veg and no potatoes. Scrambled eggs with mushrooms and salad for lunch.

Also...Heck chicken Italia chipolatas. How amazing are they for low cal and carbs and feeling like you're having something 'extra'?! Never had them before and have enjoyed them this week.

PhoenixMama · 10/01/2021 13:48

Hey all! No loss today and I was super good yesterday - BOOO! But I felt really strong on my run this morning and clothes are fitting a bit better so I'll take that as a win.

Do the BSD pulled pork today with roasted cauliflower, peppers and courgettes - can't wait!

Nonononon · 10/01/2021 14:21

Hi everyone!
Oooh I like the sound of those sausages I'll keep an eye out for them.

No loss today but not surprised tbh, still 6lbs down since Tuesday!

Got up early this morning for some reason even though dd isnt here but had a nice day.
Did yoga this morning (day 4) and have just gotten in from an hours walk there.
Tested a keto stick earlier and its dark ish pink now so happy about that.

L: scrambled eggs with ham chunks
D: chicken stew with kale (stew consists of: carrots, onions, peppers, tomatoes, garlic, rosemary and chicken. It's in the slow cooker right now smelling lovely so will have that at around 4pm)

texican · 10/01/2021 17:06

Honestly @Nonononon they are brilliant. Something like 35cal each and negligible carbs and they actually taste nice and only 'proper' ingredients. Have really enjoyed them.

Today is a hard day. Chicken is cooking but I've been quite hangry today so just drinking my squash and sulking quietly Grin

Hopefully the routine in the week will help me again from tomorrow!

Nonononon · 11/01/2021 09:09

Another lb down! So 7lbs since tuesday (6 days) would love to see another lb off by tomorrow but I doubt it. Tomorrow is official weigh in day so we'll see. So close getting into the 12s which is my mini goal, I know a lot of people start in that weight range but for me, my body has always settled at around 12st so I would be happy to get back to that range, much better than 14st anyway and I'll feel a little more like me again. Ideally I'd like to be 11st which is very slim on me, but first off, into the 12s and whittle down from there.

Coffee then yoga day 5 for me.
Will post food later.

PhoenixMama · 11/01/2021 09:56

I'm so bloody annoyed! Apparently I'm up 2lbs and I was so good this weekend - under on both days and super low carbs yesterday.

Only thing I can think of is that I'm due on in 6 days but still annoyed! Oh well let's see what happens with the rest of the week!

texican · 11/01/2021 20:18

@PhoenixMama that is really annoying, particularly when you know you're doing everything 'by the book'. Trust that it's a marathon not a sprint though and if you're doing everything you should do then you will see a change again soon.

I think weight is quite a 'fickle' measure in lots of ways with so much affecting it that it can almost be an unreliable measure of real progress aside from trends. I remember when I did 5:2 and lost a few stone, I stalled at the same weight for 2 whole months, weirdly didn't move an ounce up or down but luckily I was measuring and that was when my body completely changed shape. If I hadn't been measuring too I would have been completely disheartened and it still makes no logical sense to me.

I've had an ok day calories and carbs wise but did do more of a continual eat through the afternoon (only little pieces of chicken) rather than two very distinct meals which isn't great. I wasn't actually hungry at 12 when I ate my lunch but it was my only screen break so I had to quickly eat it then which wasn't ideal!

It's got very quiet around here for Jan. Wonder if Lockdown is affecting people's usual Jan resolutions!

Well done on your loss @Nonononon!

Nonononon · 11/01/2021 21:04

I bet its because your period is due @PhoenixMama same thing happens to me. 😒
I need to start taking measurements and progress pictures, havent done any yet.
Feel very tired today and abit achey so had some paracetamol and a little nap. Hopefully be back to normal tomorrow.

L: tuna mayo salad
D: I had some of the stew from yesterday but added spices and fresh coriander and turned it into a curry, it was lovely and much nicer than the stew on it's own. I'll have the rest tomorrow.

Nonononon · 12/01/2021 08:47

Morning! Feel better today but had a little gain since yesterday which is weird as I've been really good, especially these past couple of days 😕 ah well not going to look too much into it, it cant be a fat gain. Going to take measurements today.

Official weigh in day ;
Starting weight: 14st 5lbs
Current weight: 13st 5lbs

Day 6 of yoga today and an hours walk.
Thinking of having a ham omelette with mushrooms for lunch and will have the rest of the chicken stew turned curry for dinner.

PhoenixMama · 12/01/2021 09:32

Morning all!

So my scale this morning was annoying weird - I kept getting different weights - from 189 to 182. I changed the batteries but it must need calibrating. I'm going with 185 which is what I was last week and I'll see what happens as the week goes on.

Really good run this morning (although my area is super hilly so parts of it are kicking my butt) but I'm famished already.

Plan is 2 eggs for breakfast around 10am, then a COOK meal for lunch and salmon, broccoli and tomatoes for dinner. On running days I def need a bit more fuel.

texican · 12/01/2021 20:10

Ah @PhoenixMama - that might have explained your weird gain the other day too if the scales are playing up. I bought some snazzy new ones recently which claim to also work out lots of other stats so I'm happily obsessing over those every morning even if they are a load of rubbish

I was really not that hungry at lunchtime again today which is brilliant as this is how I used to feel when fasting until dinner on 5:2 and have just completely gone the other way since March of feeling like I need to eat none stop through the day. So this is a big win for me! Had lunch at around 2.15pm in the end which was just scrambled egg and mushrooms and have just polished off a gigantic gammon slice with a quarter roasted red pepper, quarter roasted red onion, a very small amount of sweet potato and nice salad of spinach and rocket. I still have some calories left but couldn't fit anything else in, plus eating window closes at 8pm so think that's me done on 744cals plus a little bit of olive oil which I don't count cos I can't be bothered with the faff of it.

Absolutely knackered tonight so just vegging on the sofa slightly comatose. Well done on the exercise today @PhoenixMama and @Nonononon

PhoenixMama · 12/01/2021 20:24

Well done @texican! I was SO hungry today but that will be the run. Then dd and I went for a walk after school as well so I did 3 bits of exercise which is unheard of for me lol.

I did the Fast800 Salmon with Broccoli, tomatoes and sesame tonight and it was delicious.

Closing the kitchen at 797 calls and absolutely exhausted after day 2 of homeschooling. Am going to read about resetting my scale tonight but seriously turning in early!

texican · 13/01/2021 07:40

I'm impressed that you're able to run @PhoenixMama. For the first 7 days of this, my legs have felt like sandbags even when walking the dog!

I'm going through a really tired phase, struggling to sleep properly at night though too weirdly. It's not hunger as I was fine after dinner. I wonder if it's the adjustment to no alcohol?! Or something else? Doesn't help that I drink so much in the day that I spend most of the night needing the loo!

Stayed the same this morning for the first time but that's ok. Might weigh every other day from now on.

PhoenixMama · 13/01/2021 09:01

Morning! I'm really struggling with sleep right now too @texican I'm feeling so exhausted morning and night and not sleeping well. Also a low grade headache. I'm thinking it might be ketosis but also general stress with the state of the world at the moment.

Scale dropped 1lb this morning so on the right track again although am due on on Saturday and I know my weight can fluctuate by up to 6lbs with my cycle so hoping for a whoosh next week.

Food today is eggs, soup for lunch and then lamb steaks for dinner. Already done Day 12 yoga so hoping my energy returns soon!

SailorGeri · 13/01/2021 09:11

Morning all. I've been on the thread a while but have decided to have a name change Smile
I'm due to fast today - 500 cals and I'm struggling with my mental health. I feel really low, partly because the scales aren't great. I think I need to stop weighing myself every day. It really demotivates me.
My FD on Monday was a disaster. Someone else said it on the thread but once you do eat it's hard to stop.

PhoenixMama · 13/01/2021 15:16

Hi @SailorGeri Welcome officially! Which program are you doing? You can have 800cals and still see a difference if that helps?

I hear you on the mental health - mine is regularly tough (I have PTSD, Complex PTSD, Anxiety & depression) and today I got some really bad news and instantly wanted to eat badly. Managed to limit myself to some gyoza but mostly because I don't really have any chocolate in the house & it's too miserable to go outside!

texican · 13/01/2021 17:40

Welcome @SailorGeri! Nice to have you here.

I'm sorry to hear you're having a hard time at the moment. The current situation seems to just exacerbate all difficult feelings but you're making some good choices for your health in amongst that and that's a really positive step.

I quite like weighting every day - when it's going in the right direction but as soon as I stop finding it a positive experience I make myself stop and go to every few days or even more. It can be quite a destructive thing otherwise as you get into a punishment/reward cycle which is either highs or lows depending on a bit of an arbitrary number.

Stay posting here and stay positive about the healthy steps you're taking for your body. Smile

PhoenixMama · 13/01/2021 21:37

Definitely over today but don't know exactly by how much, guessing around 200ish Cal's. Its been a rubbish day and first time in weeks I didn't get outside either. Tomorrow is another day right? Hope the scale isn't too nasty tomorrow!

texican · 14/01/2021 06:51

Oh my goodness yesterday was a shocker for me too phoenix. Everything that could go wrong went wrong and I felt completely and utterly exhausted. Early to bed worked to an extent but the puppy woke up barking basically every hour last night so that didn't help! This was after he weed on our 'good' sofa, shredded my palm plant and my opticians appointment to replace my glasses he chewed costing me £230. All on top of an otherwise awful day too. I was all for giving him away last night.

I'm up by 1.3lbs on the scale today but haven't properly been to the loo for a few days so think it's related to that. Trying not to let it derail me today...must stop daily weighing!!!!!!

PhoenixMama · 14/01/2021 09:44

That sounds awful @texican You must be shattered!

I'm up about half a lb this morning but my boobs are huge and I'm really bloated so I'm sure next week will be different.

My thoughts on weighing daily is that my weight fluctuates a lot so if I only weighed once a week or irregularly it could be on a higher day and I'd never know. Weighing every day l accept that the numbers move both ways but as long as there is a downward trend week to week then that's what I focus on.

I think @Kimlek uses an app that shows the overall trend of the weightloss and averages everything out which might help if you get discouraged!

Kimlek · 14/01/2021 10:17

Yes I use ‘happy scale’ it’s free and as phoenix says it nicely averages everything out. I also weigh daily. I’ve been eating too much rubbish recently. Weight is static at 10.2.0 so I’ve obviously not been toooo bad but nowhere near as sugar abstinent as I should be. To be honest I feel like I’m giving up so much at the moment that I kinda need a bit of chocolate to keep me sane. I’m evening snacking on a bowl of nuts & seeds but I throw in some dark chocolate chips. Bloody lovely. But a bowl a night is excessive. I’ve been alcohol free since 17th December, eating relatively sensibly other than my choc nut seed bowls.

texican · 15/01/2021 06:38

Thank you both - that's a good point, I used to use something like that and it really did help. Will look to get something.

Despite having (still!) not been to the loo AND my period due any moment, I lost this morning putting me at 8lbs down in 10 days. My scales also say I've taken 2 years off my estimated age (which is still higher than my actual age!) and 2% off my body fat so I'll take that.

I find weekends hard and I'm going into this one with slight trepidation but also feeling that it can't possibly be as bad as last weekend which was the first one on this diet and think I was in withdrawal!!!!

Had a lovely Mexican scramble with home made salsa last night. We're definitely eating a greater range of food, and definitely healthier balance.

Kimlek · 15/01/2021 08:42

8lbs!!!! Wow. Well done you. I have some scales like yours by the sounds of it & say how old I am. 🙄 I changed the original info and made myself 10 years younger. It was very accepting of that. So I do think it working out your age is a load of rubbish. Just saying...

PhoenixMama · 15/01/2021 10:35

Well done @texican! That's a great loss! I find weekends hard too - loads of planning but boredom is my worst enemy!

I thought I was up on last week but I'm actually down 2lbs taking it to 7.2lbs in 2 weeks so I'll take that. My measurements are up very slightly but I'm due on tomorrow so that will be the reason why. Not recording them this week and will see where we are at the end of next week...

Totally agree on the scale age - even losing 50lbs didn't change my age lol!

texican · 15/01/2021 21:57

Haha oh I know it's all a load of rubbish but while it's going in a downwards sort of direction it's my fave sort of rubbish 😂 Grin

Made a red Thai curry tonight with something like 8 different types of veggies in/with it which I think is a record in our house! It was delicious and still really quite low in cal for the lovely taste.

Yeah @Phoenix the weekends are tough. Another Friday without alcohol though which is a win. Didn't miss it tonight at all actually. Weird how it just creeps in to become a mindless habit. Hope this weekend is easier than last!

Happy Friday all!
