@NibbleQueen I love the Cauliflower cheese in the BSD book- def helps cut through a hangover!

@NibbleQueen I'd say to drink loads of water too, and have an early night - they are the only things that help me! X

I am so proud of myself, after swimming tonight I took my DD for a happy meal... and I had a mushroom and spinach omelette after we got home!

Would never usually have the willpower to turn down a quarter pounder!

Is the BSD recipe book worth investing in @PhoenixMama? I’m enjoying the two Fast 800 recipe books.

Well done @Tinselandlights for withstanding temptation

I am pondering the BSD recipe book too. I have the sample on kindle. I ought to just buy it.

My issue though with the 800 recipe book is that the recipes are quite boring as they don't have the number of ingredients or cooking times to get something really full of flavour, so I end up adding more things or adapting it in one way anyway. But I do want to see the BSD cauliflower cheese recipe :-)

It’s the thought of the cauliflower cheese recipe that’s got me too :)

@LotsOfTrees 😁 I have mini cauliflowers in the fridge that I feel have a calling for this recipe.

Can anyone please post this recipe?

If it's as good as we expect now, they'll be two more sales of the book ;-)

This is the cauliflower cheese recipe from another MN thread - I haven't tried it but I'm interested!

I went for a family bbq and I think I did ok given it was the first time we've all seen each other for a family celebration since 2019 - i skipped breakfast, then while eating I had a mound of salad, a chicken wing, a sausage, a felafel, a piece of lamb, and a couple of crisps.

Then for pudding I had a piece of brownie and some strawberries. I didn't feel full, didn't have any bread, didn't have seconds of pudding etc so I feel ok. Even if it kicks me out of keto for tomorrow, that is how I want to eat when we are celebrating. I do feel like this diet is sustainable as I'm hoping that tomorrow I won't be craving. To be honest the brownie was incredibly sweet so I was full very soon.

@Tinselandlights that sounds as if you did brilliantly! Well done 🎉

I shall be trying the recipe as well. Thank you.

I’ll also be trying out the recipe - thank you @tinselandlights

I now have a number of meals out coming up at friends’ houses and it’s going to get much harder to stay on track.

Me and DP had a eurovision party for 2 last night, my food choices were good though but over on calories and wine. I start week 6 tomorrow. I know my jeans are a bit looser so must have lost but progress seems so slow this time and I'm becoming quite frustrated. I'll do the next 3 weeks, see where I am them and decide whether to do the full 12 weeks.

Report
Tinselandlights · 23/05/2021 21:08

@traintraveller it sounds like it's working if your jeans are looser, three weeks should be enough to show!

Up and down for me today. I started brilliantly...ish - breakfast was a boiled egg and a couple of rashers, then had a tofu superfood salad with a friend at lunch.

THEN I ordered an iced peach green tea drink, unthinkingly, and when it came, it was more like Lipton iced tea than the kombucha style drink I'd imagined, which was annoying.

Then my friend surprised me later when we went to hers by producing a chocolate brownie Blush knowing I love them. I ate half but it's sadly taken me out of my two week long stretch of ketosis! Going to fast tomorrow morning and see if that drops me back into ketosis.

I lost 2lbs in week 6. My BMI is now 30 and I’ve lost 27.75lbs total so I’m on the cusp of no longer being obese and of losing 2 stone total in six weeks.

Morning all,

@LotsOfTrees that's an awesome loss! Well done to other 'losers' too, there's been some fab work going on here!

I've been AWOL for a couple of weeks as been very busy. Had an averagely successful week last week as I went to stay with my family (known for their beige provisions) and took some of my own food with me (good!). This worked to mitigate some of the damage but still managed to accidentally have a Chinese takeaway and a dominos (bad). So not great. Weekend was soaked in alcohol too. However I had had two great weekends with minimal alcohol and had got down to my lowest weight so at least I'm skulking back slightly lower than last time which is all I can ask for.

Wedding is in 8 weeks and 6 days now which is starting to feel worryingly close, so will have to dust off the Shred DVD and start making an effort with exercise too. Just don't want to peak too soon!

There seems to be a bit of struggling going on here too recently which I completely get. There's been so much change this year and so much out of our control. Lovely that things are opening up again but it's just another element of sands shifting and it feels a bit disorientating I think. We had lunch out yesterday (inside!) and it's hard to imagine the last year actually happened and yet I think we will bear the scars of it for while. Need to be kind to ourselves 💐

Have a great day everyone!

27.5lbs is incredible, @LotsOfTrees!

How do you feel? What are your top tips?

I was SO tired this morning after a weekend of socialising! No alcohol, I gave it up last year and have no regrets!

I'm really trying to not feel bad if I ever veer off a bit - this is life and it happens, so having a bit of brownie, for me, needs to fit into the lifestyle I'm building. I feel ok with that.

@texican I am starting with a PT next week - I've not really done frequent workouts in an organised way for more than 10 years so could definitely up my fitness too!

I'm hoping it helps whittle my waist down as I lose weight.

Report
LotsOfTrees · 24/05/2021 12:18

Thank you @texican and @tinselandlights - feeling great and much more like me again. Also relieved as the weight was piling on before. I still have a long way to go and probably more than others on the thread (at least two stone to be at a healthy weight) but I am so happy I’m on the right track - and half way! Too early for me to give advice yet but I’ve been following Fast 800 as closely as possible and using their recipe books for almost everything I eat. I divide the calories between lunch and dinner and that seems to work for me.

It’s all going to get harder this week as I go to a friend’s for dinner for the first time since restrictions have eased with a number of other social meals coming up too. Apart from when I’m at someone’s house, I’m going to try to keep going for the 12 weeks. I also need to start doing more by way of exercise but, apart from walking a bit more, may wait until after the initial 12 weeks.

Tinselandlights · 24/05/2021 21:55

@LotsOfTrees I agree, the eating out/at people's houses is going to be the hardest thing I think.

I have just checked and I'm six weeks in - I did have a week off during my period at about week three but I've tried to stick to it otherwise. I'm heading towards my period again and I'm going to try to avoid the chocolate this time around!

sun I found all 3 books to have similar recipes but each one has the odd gem. I've got a couple of books by Kate Caldesi, which if you're a meat eater are good. I've also turned to Google for a lot of inspiration.

Tried to be good Friday and failed but not enough to deserve the 5lb increase I was showing! Have behaved ever since and lost half of it. It's also time of the month so think that may be influencing things.

Afternoon!

I am very very down. My weight went UP again this morning despite having the textbook meals yesterday. I am also feeling extremely bloated and uncomfortable.

I have done a lot of reading and it could be linked to a month-long course of strong antibiotics I am taking. I am almost two weeks in. A lot of sofa research has led me to think that they do affect the gut to a great extent. This could be why I am not losing anything at all overall despite eating low carb.

I don't know really what to do as I don't want to bother my GP with it. Just keep buggering on I suppose and hope I don't need to extend the antibiotics beyond the next 15 days!!

It's all very depressing though 😔 I was really relying on a whoosh and some weight loss for my own self esteem.

Report
Tinselandlights · 25/05/2021 17:18

I'm so sorry you're struggling @Sunbelievable, the antibiotics might well be affecting it. I take a probiotic to make sure I get good bacteria! I think I got the idea from the Fast800 book, perhaps that might help.
