Well done to everyone losing, and solidarity to those finding it hard.

I completely fell off the wagon last week but got back on (not before some embarrassing overeating though 😳)

Does anyone who has been on this longer have any advice about not going mad after those 'set piece' type events? For example, in a couple of weeks I have booked afternoon tea with my friend as a mini baby shower, and I'm a bit nervous because last time I had cake/bread I just really craved it for the following week.

I want to have a tiny bit of nice things, but also not lose control for the next week!

NibbleQueen · 12/05/2021 09:20

I may need to rejoin due to weight gain... Blush I'm a little tentative though as with things opening up next week there will be more restaurant trips and drinks with friends. What's the consensus on doing this part-time?

Also wondering if anyone here is TTC? My husband and I started trying but it's taking longer than expected so I decided to at least try to feel a bit more comfortable in my skin in the meantime.

traintraveller · 12/05/2021 09:58

Good day yesterday ending on 750 cals. Also did an emi wong youtube video, I had forgotten how hard they are.
Plan for today is egg salad for lunch and Falafel with salad for dinner. Thinking about starting a 2 week ab challenge as well.
Tinsel I find it help if I decide in advance how much I am going to eat such as I will have 2 sandwiches, 1 quiche and 1 cake and unlimited wine and that is it.
Nibble I suppose if you stick to the principles and try to avoid the big carbs you might be OK but I suspect it depends on your willpower and your definition of part-time

CharlieSocial · 12/05/2021 21:30

Hi, I hope you don't mind if I join in with you all. I suddenly thought that I bet there's a thread on MN, and here it is.
I started Fast800 on Monday, so have just finished my 3rd day and I'm following the recipes to the letter in the 8 week Blood Sugar Diet recipe book on the 8 week meal planner at the back of the recipe book.

I'm finding the food really tasty and plentiful but the thought of giving up alcohol for 8 weeks at the very least seems almost impossible.

Anyway, I'm really glad to be here as I think I'm going to need some support in the future and hopefully I'll be giving it to some of you

Tinselandlights · 13/05/2021 07:58

You're really welcome @CharlieSocial, this is a lovely and helpful group!

@traintraveller that is a great idea to plan when to stop (not something I'm very used to!).

I went to the gym last night and am planning to get a PT just once a week to help my post-baby body tighten up a bit. I have quite pronounced diastasis that I think could be helped by some focus!

Queenelsarules · 13/05/2021 08:57

Hi all, hope its OK to join. I've been lurking since I started fast 800 4 weeks ago.

I have lost 1st 3lbs, and I know I should be feeling really pleased and I am. Fed up today, coming to the end of 4th week and during the week I've put on a 1lb, lost it again, it just feels too hard to do this much restriction to only lose 1lb in a week.

I know I'm being a bit ridiculous, and DH keeps telling me to stop weighing everyday which I'm sure is sound advice.

Any success stories, kicks up the bum etc, would be greatly welcomed.

LotsOfTrees · 13/05/2021 09:03

Welcome @Queenelsarules! I’m in week 5 and had a very similar week 4 to you. It all felt like hard work for such little losses. Now I’m in week 5 I think my weight loss has picked up again. I’ve so far lost 1.5lbs in three days.

CharlieSocial · 13/05/2021 09:45

Thanks @Tinselandlights. Feeling very tired today and weak, but that's not from watching what I eat. Just had green eggs and ham for breakfast. Was delicious

traintraveller · 13/05/2021 09:45

Hi Queenelsa I don't weigh at all for precisely this reason. Are you taking your measurements? I lost 22 inches in 10 weeks doing this woe in 2018 but couldn't tell you how many pounds I lost. I have an item of clothing that is too small that I try on weekly as well to monitor loss. I find my size and fit of clothes much more motivating than my weight.

Queenelsarules · 13/05/2021 11:21

Thanks for support everyone. I don't measure and I really should as I can tell from my clothes that the inches are falling off. I started at 16st 8, and need to get to 10st to be at BMI, so hoping these 12 weeks give me a big boost, then can move to 5:2 or something similar to lose the remaining weight.

LotsOfTrees · 13/05/2021 12:32

I agree with taking measurements or trying on clothes. I can already fit in some clothes that were far too tight already. The most obvious place where I have lost weight though is my face!

I’m similar to you @Queenelsarules in that I’ll need to go on to 5:2 after this to keep losing to get down to a healthy weight. The initial fast is giving me a big boost though and I hope has taught me lots about what healthy eating could look like longer term. More than any other previous diet this feels for me like a manageable lifestyle change. This bit won’t be forever but I’ve not have refined sugar for 5 weeks and counting unless it’s in something that isn’t obvious to me (eg wholemeal pitta bread?) which is completely unheard of for me. I’m learning I can mostly get by without it.

Sunbelievable · 14/05/2021 11:36

My body is rebelling against 800 this time 😔 Absolutely no whoosh at all (which I know is mostly water, but still! I am more depressed it was all just fat 🙈).

8 days of being incredibly strict to 800 calories and just a 2lb loss when I started as the heaviest I have ever been 😔

I swear I wavered more than that when I wasn't on this way of eating.

But onwards.... I am going shopping soon and think I will look for some nice fish fillet for this evening.

Tinselandlights · 14/05/2021 15:40

@Sunbelievable do you think you're drinking enough water?

I am definitely not this week and I am seeing a difference!!

Sunbelievable · 14/05/2021 16:24

I am drinking SO much water @Tinselandlights I am going to have to renew my SodaStream gas exchange scheme months early 😆

I am giving all my wine money to SodaStream and Pukka teas.

Tinselandlights · 15/05/2021 21:38

@Sunbelievable I'm getting really into herbal teas as well! I hope that the whoosh happens soon!

LotsOfTrees · 17/05/2021 07:05

Weigh in day today. I lost 4.75lbs in week 5. I’ve lost 25.75lbs total over the five weeks and have gone from a BMI of 34.2 to 30.3.

Puffincrossing · 17/05/2021 08:00

I've had a very tough week emotionally and have eaten my way through it. Cake, pastries, chocolate, chips and even veggie fish fingers on doorstop white bread Blush Amazingly I'm only up 2.4lb but I feel really heavy and full as, tmi, my digestive system seems to have slowed massively.

Have planned out this week though so having soup, cheese and low carb bread for lunch, dahl with cauliflower rice for dinner. Congratulations to everyone on their losses, those that are finding bit hard, keep going, you will see results.

PhoenixMama · 17/05/2021 08:21

Hi all - I had another rough week and totally fell of the wagon (again). I think, if I'm being really honest, that I'm actually depressed which isn't helping. Plus this weather is really awful and I'm not getting out enough. Not entirely sure how to move on.

I have a photo shoot for work in 2 weeks and I NEED to lose this last 10lbs or I literally won't have anything to wear for it. Normally that would be enough to keep me focused but right now I'm sat here close to tears wanting to go in the kitchen and eat every single bread product we have. Haven't weighed myself yet because I can't face it but I really should. I'm finding life just so hard right now. I'm hoping I can convince myself that committing to Fast800 for 2 weeks will give me some control over my life which should be empowering? I don't know what else to do.

LotsOfTrees · 17/05/2021 08:44

I’m sorry things are tough @Puffincrossing and @PhoenixMama.

Tinselandlights · 17/05/2021 09:06

@Puffincrossing I'm sorry you've had a tough week. I'm SUCH an emotional eater, any sign of drama and I crave biscuits really hard!

It sounds like a great plan to map out the week and wrest some control.

@PhoenixMama depression is the worst, sending you ThanksThanksThanks. For your photo shoot, would your budget stretch to anything new that you could still wear once this bump in the road is over? You might feel more comfortable knowing your clothes fit. I have had bad bouts of depression and dieting becomes really hard to find the motivation for. I'd make it as easy as you can - frozen ready chopped veg, lots of eggs, and water. That is the only way I can get through tough days - to know most of my self-care is low effort, including food.

Sunbelievable · 17/05/2021 11:23

So sorry @Puffincrossing and @PhoenixMama

I can utterly empathise 😔

I hope these next two weeks can be empowering as you get back control.

I am struggling to lose weight here. Still. I am day 28/1 of my cycle though, so I am clinging onto that hope. I am still heavier than my previous "heaviest" in January 2020 when I last did fast 800.

Today I am having either salmon salad or salmon omelette for lunch and chicken korma for dinner. I will make DC rice, and I have mini packs of cauliflower rice in the freezer for me.

I am fed up though. Fed up.

traintraveller · 17/05/2021 11:46

Flowers for those struggling. Well done Lotsoftrees. Week 5 for me, my jeans are definitely looser at the waist and I feel much less bloated. I ended up having a wrap and crisps on Saturday but other than that not too bad.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 17/05/2021 13:56

.

Tinselandlights · 17/05/2021 18:40

Well done @traintraveller!

I had the gazpacho from the Fast800 book for lunch, it was lovely and really, surprisingly, filling!

Tinselandlights · 18/05/2021 07:30

-3.5lbs off for me this week, meaning I've now lost over a stone.

Week 6, day 1, here we go! Starting weight in April was 11 stone 4.5lbs, now 10st4.25lbs.
