Reasonable first day back for me yesterday 762 calories and 25g carbs. Planning egg salad for lunch and mushroom stroganoff for dinner. Will need to remember to do my measurements at some point too.

HarebrightCedarmoon · 20/04/2021 16:08

Doing ok today, just feeling slightly hungry now probably as I did a good yoga session (in the garden, yay!) earlier.

Then as I'm chugging sipping water my mum comes in from the garden and gets not just a packet but an entire bowl of crisps which takes her about an hour to eat, and sits eating them a metre in front of me while I'm working. Gimme strength! Thank goodness for noise cancelling headphones. Hmm

Anyway, I've lost 8lbs in two weeks which is bloody unheard of on any diet for me. Really pleased. Sleeping better too and yoga is easier now I'm lifting 8lbs less of myself.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 20/04/2021 17:25

A repeat of yesterday's meals here

No breakfast. A salad and apple for lunch. And I have a prawn salad to tuck into shortly. Trying to find the balance between eating late enough to avoid the snacking urge after dinner, and maintaining as long a window of not eating before tomorrows lunch.

fizzfridays · 20/04/2021 18:55

@texican that's a great starting whoosh!

@HarebrightCedarmoon I find it so difficult when other people eat junk around me- I start thinking 'well if they can why shouldn't I be able to'. Clearly I can't as I will overeat and it leads to me being overweight and unhappy with myself! I'm hoping that I will reset my tastebuds to be happy with mostly fresh unprocessed food with the occasional special occasion treat.

Today has been tough, I've been very low in energy and having cravings. Stuck to the plan with a snack plate of roast chicken, veg and tzatziki for lunch then heck chicken sausages with broc and sweet potato for dinner. I had an emergency miso soup this afternoon which helped with the cravings and to warm me up, so clocking in at 765 overall.

At least the sun came out today which helped!

traintraveller · 20/04/2021 19:06

My menu for today changed completely, too cold for salad. Finishing on 682 calories and 50g carbs so I'm happy with that

DrMadelineMaxwell · 20/04/2021 20:11

I've finished on 684 caps. Carbs a little high at 64g but totally doable. Happy that I feel in control of what I'm eating.
Plus, you get LOADS of prawns for not many calories, so I'm definitely buying them again.

texican · 21/04/2021 08:30

Morning morning,

Another 0.5lbs down this morning, so am only a couple of lbs off my lowest weight before I went away which is good. I think these next couple of lbs might be harder to shift as they're probably 'proper' weight rather than water but that's fine.

Again am knackered as (stupid) dog woke 4 times in the night barking so am a bit zombie today. Not been too hungry this week though, partly cos so busy catching up at work after the break. Food today: lunch either scrambled egg or the Thai pork lettuce cups from BBC GF. Then bolognaise stuffed peppers and salad for dinner.

@DrMadelineMaxwell timing of my evening meals is a struggle too, partly due to timing for snacking and partly as sometimes I have evening meetings which pushed our dinner quite late. It was something I vowed to work on at the start but have still not quite cracked. Don't tend to eat anything until at least 12 and usually later so still have an ok fasting window but it could be better for sure.

Have a great day in the sunshine everyone ☀️

PhoenixMama · 21/04/2021 08:57

Hi everyone! I'm really struggling. Have had a few over days because it was my birthday on Monday and then I was supposed to go on a date last night and he cancelled and I'd already made mac & cheese and it was all I had in the house. Haven't eaten actual pasta in the last 4 months and it made me so sluggish so a good reminder.

I think I need to do a big push for 2 weeks of being really strict and maybe on running days adding extra protein and 200 extra cals. I don't know how to manage the exercise and low cals.

LockdownLard · 21/04/2021 09:02

The 8 weeks are up today, have mainly stuck to it with a naughty day at the weekends, going to press on for the 12 weeks now I’m used to it. Another pound off this week after a four pound loss last week.

Starting Weight: 259lbs
Starting BM (blood sugar) on waking: 12.6mmol/L
Waist: 126cm
BMI: 39.38

Week 8
Weight: 235lb - 1lb loss, total 24lb loss
BM: 6.0mmol/L
Waist: 105cm - total reduced 21cm
BMI: 35.73

LotsOfTrees · 21/04/2021 10:34

Encouraging to hear about your losses @HarebrightCedarmoon @texican and @LockdownLard. I’ve lost 2lbs since Monday so I’m feeling chuffed - I’ve lost nearly 10lbs in 10 days! My period is due so I may not continue to lose throughout this week and of course things will slow down.

I’ve been craving carbs today - after DS wanted a toasted bagel for breakfast and then seeing and smelling fresh chocolate croissants in a cafe while I was sat there with a black coffee ... so I’m having bacon and egg for lunch as a bit of a treat with some veggies. Trying Chicken goujons which I’ve not made before for dinner with salad.

Tinselandlights · 21/04/2021 11:21

Week 2 day 2 here.

Jumped on the scale yesterday and am AMAZED - I am 10 st 9.3/4, meaning I've lost 8.5lbs in a week, which is astonishing! (I'm about 5 foot 3).

Starting weight: 11st 4.5
Week one: 10st 9.3/4

I feel ok so far, no cravings, and pleased with a good starting whoosh!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 21/04/2021 17:22

That's an amazing loss, tinsel..well done.

Ham salad lunch with apple, only 2 cups of coffee so far today but plenty of water.
Just had a chopped up choritzo style heck sausage with stir fried onion and mushroom. There may be yogurt in a minute, then that's it. Finding it easier than I expected to ignore chocolate, biscuits, ice cream in the evening.

Tinselandlights · 22/04/2021 07:12

Great on avoiding all the bad stuff @DrMadelineMaxwell!

One thing I have found interesting is that I bought some keto strips and had quite a carby day yesterday - breakfast was the cardamom porridge, lunch was the spring green and mushroom hash (but there were lentils in as I had my DH's leftovers) and dinner was dhal.

I've been in deep ketosis for days now but this has lifted me into the quite pale pink light ketosis. Still actively in the zone but I don't want to get out of it as it was so horrible to get into ketosis!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 22/04/2021 07:26

Tempted by the ketogenic sticks.where di you get them from?

Very lazy day yesterday, but an active one today as I'm a school teacher and my class are gardening today!

Today is glorious so I will have my usual salad and apple for lunch and am looking forward to a prawn salad for dinner. Maybe with a yogurt and a sprinkling of bran cereal for a bit of crunch.

traintraveller · 22/04/2021 08:07

Slightly over on calories yesterday at 820, 31g carbs. Egg and quorn ham salad for lunch today and more salad with Halloumi, Falafel and humous for dinner. At least that's the plan.

traintraveller · 22/04/2021 20:44

Stuck with my planned menu, 800 calories and 34g carbs. It's so much easier to stick to this diet when it's sunny!

Tinselandlights · 22/04/2021 22:28

@DrMadelineMaxwell they were just on Amazon, about £8 for 100!

Puffincrossing · 23/04/2021 06:49

I'm having a good week. Lost 2.6lb since last Friday but we're going away this weekend Shock. I'm sticking to approx 1200 cals by mainly having what I was having on 800 diet but adding breakfast of low carb bread and peanut butter. I was fine doing 16/8 but I wasn't getting anywhere. I feel like mixing things up has kick started things again.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 23/04/2021 07:05

Definitrly easier when sunny, as long as I can ignore the call of the ice creams in the freezer!

Salad for lunch and salad for dinner here again today.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 23/04/2021 18:55

I think I like the fact that the distance is v strict. So it helps me make better choices as so much stuff in the supermarkets is just off limits due to the carbs. Rather than still eating rubbish but trying to make it fit into any allowance and struggling to stay on track.

That and, if I have a bad day and go over what I plan to eat and end up feeling a bit guilty, I am still relatively low carb and under the cals that my nutracheck app would have me on as a diet calorie goal.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 23/04/2021 19:23

The diet, not the distance!

LotsOfTrees · 24/04/2021 08:19

I’m finding the same @DrMadelineMaxwell. I’m eating far more healthily.

We’ve just booked holiday for just after the 12 weeks of starting this - so a good incentive to keep going for the 12 weeks probably before moving to 5:2 but am going to take it in two week blocks I think so I never have to commit too far. I’ve nearly completed two weeks and am finding it very manageable and even enjoyable but have also been sheltered from any social meals so far which I imagine will be much trickier.

PhoenixMama · 24/04/2021 09:08

Morning all - I'm being super yoyo at the moment, definitely emotional eating, I've had the most insanely stressful week at work and next week is going to be the first time in over 15 months that I'll be back commuting and working intensely with other people for long hours. I'll have some control over what I'll eat but not what's available iyswim?

I think I'm going to plan to start again May 1st and do 6:1, I have a series of nights out/celebrations/dates in May that I don't want to cancel/not drink at, although I think the booze is what's seriously throwing me off.

I did 20 weeks of this before and did great but for some reason doing it again is really hard. I think like you said @LotsOfTrees committing to 2 weeks at a time might be the best way to do it!

Tinselandlights · 24/04/2021 09:26

I had a good day yesterday - I had my first out of home work meeting with someone and just had peppermint teas.

Usually when I got home from work that would be the time I would be snacking while I made dinner but instead my DH had bought me some salad and I made a quick smoked salmon salad with cherry tomatoes. It actually really filled me and I've just had bacon and egg for breakfast so it should even up not eating v much last night!

Yesterday I ate:
B- the pistachio and cardamom porridge from the book
L- the dhal from the book and some salad
D- 50g smoked salmon, salad and 6 cherry tomatoes

I was so tired last night but feel good today!

LotsOfTrees · 24/04/2021 10:41

I can imagine commuting and working alongside people again will the a real test @PhoenixMama. Sorry work is stressful.

Well done @Tinselandlights! I’ve resorted to black coffee so far but peppermint sounds good. I’d never truly considered before how many calories were in all the lattes I used to drink.
