Me too! It was Dh's birthday 2 weeks ago and there were a few other things happening that meant it would be difficult to stick to plan but I'm struggling to get back on it even though I really want to lose the weight.

Have had soup, cheese and small apple at lunch. Chili with cauliflower rice for dinner and half a carb killer bar at I felt I wanted a pudding. Think I'm going to go out for a walk now and see if that helps. I couldn't face weighing myself today but will do tomorrow. I'm guessing I have stone and a half to lose to reach overweight bmi so I really need to get back to it.

All tips gratefully received!

texican · 30/03/2021 07:56

I think it's really natural to fall off track sometimes, especially at the moment when there feels very little else in the way of variety or treats. When I feel like that I make sure I'm meal-planning and proper food shopping as they're the first things to go when I can't be arsed and mean I make lazy food choices where I default to old ways as they're the easiest to pull out at short notice. Then make sure I'm drinking enough water as that's another vicious cycle where if I drink less I'm hungrier and also then want to drink less. Plus getting out for a walk as much as possible, and getting enough sleep. I honestly think lack of water, sunlight and sleep are at the root cause of lots of going off the rails with eating.

I also think when we've done it before we feel like the second time should feel a bit easier and then when it feels hard still, it's a bit disappointing and then easier to give in to temptation. Perhaps it's worth thinking about this as starting from scratch rather than starting again?

Most importantly don't beat yourself up - if this was easy, none of us would be here! Do kind things for yourself because you deserve kindness and go from there.

Beautiful day here so I'll stop being philosophical and get out for a quick walk before my literally back-to-back zoom day. Not even sure when I'm going to be able to have lunch today 😫

Puffincrossing · 30/03/2021 13:57

Thank you texican that is the talking to I need. I've logged lunch on mfp for the first time in a while and got something out of the freezer for dinner so I won't go astray this evening. I've also been out for a walk for an hour at just over 3.5 mph. Mini goal is to lose 4.5lbs to take me into next stone bracket. I was there for a day a couple of weeks back so I know I can be done!

PhoenixMama · 30/03/2021 14:55

I'm struggling too. I've realised that what I eat first thing defines how I eat for the rest of the day. If i have a lot of protein for my first meal then I'm good for the rest of the day but if i go carb heavy I crave carbs all day. Going to try and focus on that for a start anyway!

CycleGirl20 · 30/03/2021 16:24

I'm gonna have a mini break over Easter as I need it! I had a dream that I are loads of ice-cream the other night and gained 10kg. I woke up in a total fit of shame for ruining all of my efforts 🤣

LockdownLard · 31/03/2021 11:42

Weigh in today - completed five weeks now. Wasn't sure whether to post stats, as everyone is struggling by the sound of it, and I had three bottles of wine last week, so loss not great - only a pound! Decided to post anyway as it's good for me to keep track.

Starting Weight: 259lbs
Starting BM (blood sugar) on waking: 12.6mmol/L
Waist: 126cm
BMI: 39.38

Week 5
Weight: 241lbs - 1lb loss, total 18lb loss
BM: 6.6mmol/L
Waist: 109cm - total reduced 17cm
BMI: 36.64

As an addition, did a blood pressure, this has dropped from 146/95 at the start of BSD to 125/72mmHg - what with all the measurements and BM, BP etc its like a ward round here Wednesday mornings, may even do a urinalysis to check ketones Grin

LockdownLard · 31/03/2021 11:43

According to MFP I have lost 6.9% of my body weight, and am 25% towards my goal weight after five weeks of BSD ..... I must celebrate, where's that wine... whoops Grin

CycleGirl20 · 31/03/2021 19:54

I'm having wine tomorrow. I'm barely holding out cracking open the bottle now! I've got terrible pre-period bloat so I'm up 500g. It was 1kg but I think I lost 500g but still have the bloat 5 days later 😬

texican · 01/04/2021 07:15

Happy Thursday everyone!

I'm exhausted and so ready for a bit of a break this weekend. I tried to take my own advice yesterday so got out for a 'run' (mostly walk) in the morning and then took the dog for a decent walk in the afternoon too. Had a tasty lunch and dinner and didn't snack at all. It made a slight difference to my energy levels and I do notice the difference of getting some sunlight, particularly when it's full sun. Just need the sleep next!

@LockdownLard I'm so impressed by the blood sugar and blood pressure readings. It's great you've done those as even in weeks where the losses are smaller, you're able to picture all the improvements that are going on inside your body!

@Puffincrossing and @PhoenixMama hope you've had a good few days, and @CycleGirl20 I hope you enjoy your vino! My alcohol intake has crept up a bit recently but I'm not going to worry about it until after Easter when it's then strict countdown to the wedding (hopefully!).

Hope everyone has a good day! ☀️

PhoenixMama · 01/04/2021 08:37

Morning all! I'm just not feeling it this week so I'm going to cut myself some slack for this weekend and then get back on it on Tuesday. Then I have a complicated combination of lunches, etc over the Easter Holidays but I think I'm going to have to be really good on days where I don't have lunches. I've got a date planned on April 21st so I want to feel confident and not flabby/bloated to hell for that as it will be my first date since my break up in October!

Hope everyone has a lovely day today ahead of a nice well deserved long weekend!

Puffincrossing · 02/04/2021 09:15

Morning all, I'm getting there slowly. I've lost 3lb in 11 days, dh has lost 4 in 2 Angry. I need to lose another 0.6 to take me back to 2st mark and over 2lb for the next stone bracket. I've menu planned and shopped so going to stick with it today and have Sunday off.

Wishing everyone a happy Easter break. See you all next week when we're all back on it.

Forfecksake17 · 02/04/2021 10:45

Hi ladies,
I’ve not been on here for a few weeks now but I just wanted to post in case it helps someone.
I was really struggling to lose very much at all on the scales when I was doing this plan and was getting really demotivated and frustrated- I kind of ‘accidentally’ signed myself up for a fitness challenge online and I’ve been doing that for last 3 weeks, Ive been able to eat 1500 Cals a day and over 100g carbs per day and I can honestly say the difference in my mood, motivation and body shape is huge!
I’m not in any way trying to devalue this plan, I think for people who feel they have several stone to lose/ medical reasons it is obviously hugely successful and proven but maybe if you are more like me and needed to lose a couple of stone/ tone up then maybe it’s not the best/ most efficient way to get to your goal?
I really hope this is not taken in a disparaging or negative way. I just know how frustrated and miserable I was getting at not seeing that number on the scale move and it was making me question ‘what is wrong with me? Why can’t I do this’ etc and actually I think it just wasn’t the ‘right’ program for my goals. My ‘scale’ weight is still not what I ‘wanted’ to see but I’ve dropped nearly 2 dress sizes and most importantly I feel healthy, nourished and proud of myself.
I hope this maybe helps someone!
I hope you all have a lovely Easter weekend x

Forfecksake17 · 02/04/2021 11:12

I forgot to say I was doing HIIT workouts while following the fast800 programme but I think that limited cals/carbs was just not enough to actually ‘let’ my body change and get the benefit from it.

PhoenixMama · 02/04/2021 15:08

@Forfecksake17 Thank you for your post - you're echoing my thoughts about where I am. I did great losing the first 50lbs but this final shift it's not working. Can you share the name of the program you're doing? I can't afford to do anything paid right now but maybe it will get me thinking about what's next. I really just want to drop a dress size more than anything!

Forfecksake17 · 02/04/2021 15:37

Hi @PhoenixMama I had signed up to an Anita Herbert challenge, don’t be put off when you first see her!! She is a proper machine/ bikini body athlete etc but her workouts are actually ok! I have ZERO aspirations to look like her but I can honestly say the weight based/ resistance/ HIIT seems to definitely work BUT I honestly 100% believe that i needed the carbs and Cals to actually ‘allow’ it to work.
I was getting so so demotivated and self critical when I wasn’t really ‘seeing’ results when I was doing fast 800- I was trying really hard with the food etc and it was literally all I was thinking about all day- what can I eat, how many carbs, I can’t have this. Felt like I was putting in so much effort and sacrifice for minimal physical gains and actually making myself feel mentally and emotionally worse.
Like I said I’m in no way criticising the plan but I do think that depending on your goals it might not be the best way to get there.
I genuinely feel so much better in every way- I am eating healthily 90% of the time but I have had pizza and chips ( not cauliflower based pizza!!) the last two Saturday nights and I am eating bagels, oats, whole grain rice etc every day.
I just wanted to put it out there in case someone else can relate to it. X

texican · 06/04/2021 08:39

Morning all,

Happy Easter! I've had a pretty lax weekend food and alcohol-wise so feeling it a bit this morning. Lovely to have a few days off, had some gorgeous spring weather and some beautiful local walks with the dog which has been great.

Back to reality today. Made a quick turkey chilli and a broccoli and Stilton soup last night so have decent lunch options this week and then dinner will be turkey, ham and leeks with veg.

@Forfecksake17 really glad you've found something that suits you. I think there's so many factors at play in weight loss that the approach can make a big difference, both physically and psychologically. You've obviously found something motivating for you which is great. And all the exercise must be making you feel great.

Just off for a short walky-run in the bright spring sunshine. Have a good day everyone ☀️

LockdownLard · 07/04/2021 07:22

Urgh only 1lb off this week, end of the sixth week - although Easter weekend wasn’t too good so to be expected, going to be really strict for this next two weeks and see if I can lose more as it seems a lot of faff for just a lb.....

carriec6 · 07/04/2021 20:28

I am about to try and start the fast800. Weight has crept up, but I am now 3 stones overweight. Is anyone about to try, of has a kick up the backside for me? Help!!

texican · 07/04/2021 21:01

Hi @carriec6, welcome! You can do this!

Read the books and then meal plan thoroughly to take any thinking out of the process. Once you get into it, it's really simple and can really help you to regain a sense of control and choices over eating. I have lost a stone and a half since Christmas, mostly in the first half term after Christmas where I was a purist and then a more scenic route (Mon-Thursday strict and then less strict at weekends) this last half term. I have about another 4-7lbs to go to be the lowest I've ever been as an adult and I've found it really simple. I'm quite proud of myself actually, reflecting back but most proud of feeling more in control of my eating and drinking which had completely spiralled.

You're amongst friends here - keep posting and it helps you on the trickier days!

carriec6 · 08/04/2021 08:49

Well done @texican that is amazing!
I have my books ready to go. Planning today.
Do you eat separate meals to the family, or do you all eat the same things?

shreddergodo · 08/04/2021 09:14

Hi Guys! Im back haha!

Well done @texican so inspiring!!
@Forfecksake17 that sounds amazing. I think it's quite important to have a second sort of belt and braces thing to help you along in your goals.

I've been fasting 16:8 and then loosely following the plan/just not eating too much.. and trying to drink water and running and it's been working to get me back in the mindset again. I'm 64.8 this morning and I'm about to head out on a jaunt.

Puffincrossing · 08/04/2021 11:26

carriec6 once you get going it's really easy to follow and stick to. I've just bought a couple more cookbooks on kindle as I felt I was serving the same stuff. Had a good chat with myself though about what I would cook if I went back to carbs and other than a Quorn & sweetcorn pie with puff pastry there's nothing I'm missing. It's the dc that mean we keep eating the same stuff Grin I try and cook something we can all eat like spag bol but pasta for them, cabbage for us. About once a week we have a curry and they have pasta with tomato sauce (batch cook and keep in freezer) and possibly some 'meatballs'. Korma has been a surprise success and the stuffed peppers I linked earlier.

I'm also taking the scenic route as I like to loosen things at the weekend. Bit heavier than I hoped to be this morning but have come on today so I'm hoping that's something to do with it. Will see how I get on this week.

PhoenixMama · 08/04/2021 12:47

So apparently I gained 7lbs over Easter lol - will hopefully be a bunch of water weight.

I'm trying to figure out the way forward now. As of today I have 10lbs to my lowest weight which i wanted to be at by the 19th. Not sure if that's realistic and, to be honest this woe isn't working for me any more. It feels like a hell of a lot of work for less than 1lb a week. I actually think I need to up my cals and up my exercise. Am thinking I might go to 2:5 for the rest of the Easter hols and then make a decision. Fast800 has been really good to me initially but not sure my body is responding any more.

PhoenixMama · 08/04/2021 12:57

Oh but I was doing some research over the weekend and an interesting thing I found was that you should be eating 0.8-1g of protein for every lb you weigh. I am so significantly below this that I think that might be part of my problem too!

HarebrightCedarmoon · 08/04/2021 16:00

I just started on Monday. Protein has been 50-60g a day (not sure I could eat a lot more as I have fish, egg or tofu with every meal as it is, sometimes more than one of those), carbs trying to keep low
