@PhoenixMama good for you! That must feel great

@MintyCedric take care and be kind to yourself. That's just as important, if not more important than anything else Flowers

@WonkyDonks that is great news! I think I'm in a similar situation to you. Finding out I was prediabetic shook me to the core and has given me the impetus to overhaul my lifestyle completely

I wasn't going to weigh myself until tomorrow, but I've lost 4lbs this week, in addition to the 2lb that I lost the week before when I was still gearing up to go all in. I'm stunned, but it's very motivating. I would like to lose at least 56lb overall.

For other newbies, I felt really crappy (and hungry!) on and off for the first couple of days, but yesterday I honestly felt very full after eating and wasn't really wanting to eat more of anything. I did have a headache again this morning, so I think I need to work on my water intake.

Tonight is family movie night and we usually have pizza. I don't want to deprive myself too much, so having 1 slice with a large salad, rather than half of the pizza as I would do typically.

Meal planning tomorrow, and need to remind myself to drink more water next week!

PhoenixMama · 06/03/2021 20:54

Welcome @NaturalBlondeYeahRight!

Well done @Sithee! You definitely need to drink loads of water. I need 3-4L a day or my weight loss stalls! It's a crazy amount really!

Definitely fell off the wagon last night & today. Scared to step on the scale tomorrow lol but I think I need to ask myself if my weekends without dd where I have to work all weekend (my business partner and I are bubbled so he comes over on weekends and he's a terrible influence!) That said I have tomorrow all day by myself to be strict and get me back on track!

Cooltalkin · 07/03/2021 10:09

Morning
I’m Finding the fasting ok especially on work days .
I finish eating approx 8pm then eat again after 1 pm so probably managing 17: 7 most days .. I made the chicken pesto dish with Parma ham and lots of veg thanks @texican great link
I am not too strict with food a light lunch , no snacks , and an evening meal that’s light on carbs
Will see how that goes
Oh and lots and lots of water , after reading gin stephens book , I am convinced of the clean fast
( also read Michael mosely and Jason fung ) just need to put it into practice

Cooltalkin · 07/03/2021 10:09

That would read better as eat at 1pm and finish 8pm 😊

Cooltalkin · 07/03/2021 10:13

Well done @Sithee
Hello @NaturalBlondeYeahRight

texican · 08/03/2021 07:18

Morning all,

Sorry I've been a bit AWOL last week or so. Work was full on last week and I was pretty knackered. Taken some steps to put some breaks into my days going forward and hoping that helps with this feeling of exhaustion.

Had a good weekend food wise, made a lovely red Thai curry yesterday completely full of lots of different veg. Was beautiful and have some left over for lunch too! @Cooltalkin that pesto dish is lush isn't it, and really simple. Fell down on the alcohol front again though - was only going to drink on Saturday but then ended up also drinking yesterday too. Grr. So am 1.5lbs up today and that's the price I pay!!!!

On the plus side, although I know I've lost a stone I have been struggling to feel it. But I discovered a pile of clothes I'd stuffed in my wardrobe that didn't fit and tried them on and they all fit, about half comfortably enough to wear again now! So that was a really nice, visible way to mark some change.

Catching up! -
@PhoenixMama sooo pleased for you breaking through your plateau. You were an inspiration as you didn't let that lack of scale movement derail you, just kept on keeping on which is tough without the reward. Welcome @LockdownLard and @NaturalBlondeYeahRight, you're in good hands here. @WonkyDonks delighted your tests came back clear but great incentive nonetheless. @Sithee you're doing brilliantly, glad you're feeling better! @MintyCedric see you soon, hope things settle for you. @Puffincrossing I think I agree with your approach re weekends. It has to be sustainable and as long as they're mindful and in control, I think relaxing a bit is the way I'll get through. I think I'd rather take a bit longer but enjoy my weekends than be 100% and then fall off the wagon when maintaining.

Have a lovely day everyone! 🤩

texican · 09/03/2021 09:13

Did I break the thread?!!! 😮

Puffincrossing · 09/03/2021 09:29

I was really busy yesterday and didn't get a chance to weigh myself. I have today and my 2lb is back after the weekend. However, I am 1lb down since last Tuesday. It's slow progress at 1lb a week but this is how it has to be. I can stick with this forever.

Lots to do today again so no time to eat!

PhoenixMama · 09/03/2021 09:32

Ha @texican! I've just been having some really rubbish days. I'm due on tomorrow so that's probably been part of it.

Trying to be better today. Super tired as well which doesn't help.

Cooltalkin · 09/03/2021 13:33

Doing ok with my window but not weighed myself since my initial 2lb loss , don’t want to be a slave to that number
Chicken stir fry last night , with a spicy sauce
Not snacking at all ( especially in the eve ) 8 pm and that’s it I’m done
Good luck to all
Catch you all again tomorrow

LockdownLard · 09/03/2021 16:13

I was wondering - how quickly do you come out of ketosis? Is it one day when you go over and that’s it? I had some wine over the weekend - I just wanted to and it had been a pig of a week at work, but now I’ve seen the amount of carbs in it!! I see that spirits are 0 carbs so that’s the way forward for a weekend treat - vodka lime and soda 😃

I did a urinalysis stick and it was purple, but not as deep purple as last week - I am wondering if the wine has kicked my body out of ketosis?

Weigh in tomorrow - I doubt it will be as much as the 7lb first week loss, but any loss is a win 😅

PhoenixMama · 09/03/2021 16:49

Hi @LockdownLard Yeah basically as soon as you go over you kick your body out. That's why it's so hard to get there and stay there!

LockdownLard · 09/03/2021 16:52

@PhoenixMama good to know, I will have low carb alcohol for now - if I had known I would have had a takeaway too - pushed the boat out Grin

LockdownLard · 09/03/2021 16:53

@PhoenixMama does your body get used to keeping going into ketosis - or do you have the flu symptoms every time? Although I only had a headache which disappeared with paracetamol and a lie down.

PhoenixMama · 09/03/2021 18:09

@LockdownLard It's not just the carbs but sugar too - and no you don't get keto flu each time as long as you stay close to it - it's just when you start. A lot of people on this woe don't stay in ketosis though - totally depends on your body. If you did it for 16 weeks you wouldn't stay in ketosis the whole time.

texican · 10/03/2021 07:47

Morning all,

Glad to see you all back. It was very echoey in here without you!! 😂

"If I had known I would have had a takeaway too - pushed the boat out" @LockdownLard this cracked me up. So true!

I'm still 1lb up on my lowest. Partly hormonal, partly lack of loo visits (!), and partly my weekends are more relaxed than they were in the first 6 week slot. I'm finding it slightly frustrating given that I am still way under my weekly calories (by the amount that you should definitely lose 1lb a week) but am monitoring it with interest as I guess I am maintaining really so it's interesting to see what is necessary for that. Will need to crack on again properly though if I'm still this weight in a week.

@PhoenixMama hope you're feeling a bit better? This period of the lockdown just feels interminable at the moment doesn't it. The sun has helped but today is a very wet and blustery day here so that's a bit crap too!

Keep on keeping on, I suppose!!

MozzchopsThirty · 10/03/2021 14:47

Hi all, been away for a while due to Xmas and then covid

Really struggling not losing at all

Been back on now this is the 3rd week
Mostly do 800-900 cals per day mon-Friday
16:8
Exercise 30 mins per day 5 x a week which can be a mixture of combat, yoga, pt
Walk dog daily (not strenuous)
On the weekend I'm a bit more relaxed, will drink alcohol and have the odd takeaway

However this weekend I had one meal that wasn't healthy (Chinese takeaway) no alcohol

Literally my weight has barely moved in 3 weeks.
It goes down maybe 1kg and then moves daily like 62.8, 62.7, 62.7, 62.8

It's really getting me down now and I feel like all the hard work is just wasted!!!

Can anyone help or offer any advice please

PhoenixMama · 10/03/2021 16:32

Hey @MozzchopsThirty welcome back. I feel your pain, it's tough & I plateaued last month for the whole month. I think you know what the answer is already. The reality is if you drink alcohol & eat takeaways 2 out of 7 days and you're not going to lose weight. But the good news is you're killing maintenance and you're not gaining! How much do you have left to to lose? Can you go hard core for another couple of weeks/a month to lose the last bits?

MozzchopsThirty · 10/03/2021 16:48

I only want to get to 59kg so not a massive loss

But it's just getting harder & harder

PhoenixMama · 11/03/2021 07:20

@MozzchopsThirty The closer you get to your goal the harder it becomes. I remember on the thread last year it taking some people a a month to lose 1lb as they got closer to that goal weight (its taking me ages to get back to my goal too and I only have 3lbs to go). Bear & I once discussed whether it was worth it to be super strict for a long time whilst being constantly frustrated to get to that goal or accept where you end up instead. We didn't come up with an answer but I guess that's def the question right?

MozzchopsThirty · 11/03/2021 10:43

@PhoenixMama I suppose you're right, and as I go through my 40s I may have to accept I'll never make it down to 59

Weirdly I've lost overnight and am down to 61.8 so odd

Thank you for your advice Smile

CycleGirl20 · 11/03/2021 11:26

Hello 👋. The 5:2 thread sent me your way. I'm looking for some reassurance I guess. I was fasting (water fast) Monday-wed evening, having dinner. Then fasting Thursday-friday and having Friday dinner. Then eating normally at the weekend (not overdoing it but maybe 2000 cals). I lost 5kg in January, then pretty much nothing in Feb (~1kg).

I've swapped to the fast800 and calorie counting everything now. Having a bit of a panic that such a strict regime as before didn't work! Anyone had similar where the fast800 has worked where something else failed?

Puffincrossing · 11/03/2021 13:13

I haven't moved since Tuesday but I was very hungry yesterday. I tried all the usual things and was still hungry so I caved and had a slice of bread with peanut butter. It did stop me being hungry but I do wonder how much damage it did.

Well done lockdown those are some great figures.

Cycle I have found the 800 easy to follow and virtually all the time I haven't been hungry- yesterday really was a blip! I think there is some evidence to suggest long fasts can cause more problems than they solve so may be just give your body a break and do something a little more gentle? There's lots of positive stories on this thread, join us and see how you go Smile

CycleGirl20 · 11/03/2021 13:27

Thanks @Puffincrossing. I'm on day 2 and am enjoying eating more regularly again! I'm really hoping this works. My BMI is 30.5 and won't budge. I keep having to go to the doctor for fertility issues and can't wait until they stop telling me I'm obese 😅.

Has anyone got any filling food ideas? I'm more hungry eating 800cal than nothing at the moment 😬
