PS - @texican Do you have pics of the dress? I LOVE a wedding dress and am super nosy!!!

Sithee · 02/03/2021 15:28

Can I join you all? I “officially” started day 1 yesterday, after a couple of weeks of reading the books and experimenting with a few new low carb recipes. I’ve been meaning to lose weight for ages, and have fallen into bad habits by prioritizing myself last. A routine blood test recently showed that my blood sugars are prediabetic, and that was a walk up call to overhaul my lifestyle, so here I am. Last night the cravings were hard, so I cleaned the bathroom. Think my house will never have been so clean if that continues Grin

Forfecksake17 · 02/03/2021 19:54

Hi @Sithee 👋 hope the cravings are little better tonite and your not currently cleaning the house!! It does get easier, I can honestly say that by week 2 the worst of any cravings were gone- don’t get me wrong there are still things that I love ( such as hot cross buns and Gin!!) that I would like to have now and again but I don’t feel the overwhelming urge to pour myself a glass of wine every night and open a bag of kettle crisps to watch tv!
I feel much more alert in the mornings and have more energy. I just need the scales to start consistently showing the rewards and I’ll be a very happy bunny.

PhoenixMama · 02/03/2021 21:01

Welcome @Sithee! OMG I have been starving all day. I think I'm just massively tired and then been in crazy long back to back meetings so just shoving food in my mouth when I get a break. Definitely over today - will put it all in MFP before bed but I'm turning in now as I'm so shattered. Tomorrow will be better!

Puffincrossing · 03/03/2021 07:39

Hello sithee keep going, the cravings do pass quickly. I used to sit in the evening with a glass of wine and 100g chocolate, now I have tea as I'm trying to drink alcohol twice a week only, and often I don't eat anything. Sometimes I have strawberries & blueberries and rarely I'll make a little snack plate of blueberries, salted peanuts and cheese for about 250 cal. That satisfies my need to pick if I'm hungry and only 2 g carbs.

I'm another 1lb down so just 0.2 away from first mini goal Grin However, I am hungry this morning so may need to go out to avoid temptation before lunch.

texican · 03/03/2021 07:51

Morning all!

Ah thank you for the positive dress vibes! It's been a tricky time to get one what with everything being closed! So ordered online from Phase Eight just to start trying on - I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I have to be honest and it pretty much fits too! Wedding is in July, hopefully! I think I've attached a pic @PhoenixMama Smile

@Forfecksake17 the shred massively helped with toning although I had (and still have) a decent layer of 'insulation' over the top of all my muscles which made the visible impact slightly less, although my measurements improved. However my arms were much more toned and I actually had some definition, and my legs felt strong which I loved.

A good eating day yesterday with leftover bolognaise for lunch and then a beautiful fish dish for dinner - https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/prosciutto-pesto-fish-gratin lower in calories than stated on the recipe as I only used about quarter pot of half fat Creme fraiche in the end and I think less Parmesan. It was very delicious and dead easy!

Welcome @Sithee. I'm impressed you have enough energy to clean anything - I was exhausted the first few weeks! I feel your pain with the back to back meetings @PhoenixMama, I wonder if that'll get better post lockdown?!! God I hope so. Good goal @Puffincrossing - I think mine is to lose the 0.4lbs that I'm still up from 3 WEEKS AGO (thanks half term!) and then start getting to 'new lowest weights' over the coming weeks. Would love to be at least 9st 7 by Easter (I'm sure I'll end up putting on at Easter so a safety buffer would be helpful!). That would be a 4.8lb loss from now so hopefully doable.

Have a lovely day everyone!!

Lovely dress @texican

Having a bit of a hit and miss week here so far...three-quarters of a pound loss last week was hardly inspiring.

No booze since Sunday though, and won't be until the weekend. Carb free lunches, and portion controlled, albeit not especially low cal/carb dinners courtesy of Hello Fresh.

I am really, really scared that I just won't be able to lose the weight and I think it's putting me off even trying, not to mention the stress of the situation with my parents at the moment.

DD (16) has been exercising every day since January and eating more healthily and is looking amazing. She keeps telling me I need to exercise more and I know she's right but I'm so physically and mentally exhausted at the moment I just can't motivate myself beyond going for walks and that doesn't seem to make a difference.

PhoenixMama · 03/03/2021 09:34

That dress is gorgeous @texican Thanks for sharing! I'm also going to try that recipe - looks delicious!

@MintyCedric I find if I think about the overall plan I get overwhelmed but when I focus on the day at hand as a single unit (i.e. I CAN control just today) it makes it much easier. Doesn't work everyday (like yesterday) but does help overall. Basically if you don't do anything you won't lose the weight but if you make little shifts each day then you will!

Sleep has definitely helped my head and I got up early-ish and headed out of the house at 7:10 for a walk (instead of a run) and did yoga so feeling good. Now to manage food!

LockdownLard · 03/03/2021 10:30

Can I join? Started the BSD 800 a week ago.

My main reason for starting was that I tested my blood sugars on my dad's monitor and they were in the diabetic range. I haven't gone to the GP as I don't want it to be recorded for future insurance etc. and I think all they will say is diet and exercise, so I am going to try and bring it down myself.

I have found the BSD 800 quite easy once the first two days were over - these were hard, and breaking the habit of passive eating in front of the telly was the worst. I had a headache on day 3, but other than that no problems. I have done a urinalysis stick, and have dark purple on the Ketones, so that's all good. I have a lot of weight to lose, but am taking it in small goals, as the entire amount seems enormous and unattainable.

Starting Weight: 259lbs
Starting BM (blood sugar) on waking: 12.6mmol/L
Waist: 126cm
BMI: 39.38

Week 1
Weight: 252lbs
BM: 7.8mmol/L
Waist: 116cm
BMI: 38.32

Onwards and upwards to week 2....!

Forfecksake17 · 03/03/2021 10:32

Morning all!

Aww lovely dress @texican very elegant👰‍♀️

Sooooooo I have gone slightly off piste................ was browsing Instagram last nite ( I have never been on Instagram in my life but decided to search for some food inspiration) anyway I found this total goddess called Anita Herbert and found myself signing up for a 6 week challenge! 😬
I have to send pics of myself 🥴and she will devise me a meal plan and then I do a set workout every day for 6 weeks, it starts on March 15th.
I am guessing it is not going to be 800 calories or low cab so I suppose I will have to leave this wee thread when it starts ☹️
Not exactly sure how I feel about it now in the cold light of day haha but I’ve paid and signed up so I guess I’m committed!!

Forfecksake17 · 03/03/2021 10:38

Welcome @LockdownLard 👋
What a great start you have already made in week one, well done you!!

Sithee · 03/03/2021 14:43

Hi everyone, thanks for the warm welcome. Yesterday afternoon I felt absolutely dreadful - tired, headache, couldn’t concentrate. Hopefully this passes soon! No cleaning last night as I did indeed feel too tired. Hopefully this passes soon. At least I got an early night! I was planning to gradually ramp up the exercise in a couple of weeks once my body (hopefully) is more used to this way of eating. Hope everyone is having a good day Smile

Cooltalkin · 03/03/2021 18:30

Evening all
Started 16:8 yesterday , have dabbled previously so know the gist but joining in the hope of getting support and inspiration ,
Both evenings having fish for tea with veg ( dp having his with chips )
On a mission to get this lockdown and previous weight off ASAP
5 ‘4 and a bit and over 14 stone , previously my top weight was 13 stone , but need to be more like 10 stone .
Btw @texican beautiful dress

PhoenixMama · 03/03/2021 19:42

Closing the kitchen at 927 cal's. Happy with that. Very hungry at the moment but think that's cuz I'm due on next week.

Puffincrossing · 04/03/2021 07:31

texican that dress the beautiful. July will be here in no time.

Hello lockdown, you've made a great start. Great idea to record lots of different figures so you can always see that change is happening.

Cool you'll get plenty of support here. I'm a little shorter than you so would like to make it to under 10st. First big goal is a BMI of 30. For the first time in I'm not sure how long, I feel that is achievable Smile

I can't remember who said about not weighing daily. I need to to motivate myself but I know it does the opposite for some people. DH records his weight on Google fit. It shows your average weight as well so you can see if the general trend is going the right way.

I have stayed the same which is ok. We went on a massive walk as I wanted to shift the 0.2lb to make my first goal but then I was really hungry and ended up eating 1056 calories. Kept carbs low-ish at 60g. Will be good today as things tend to slip a bit on Friday.

Forfecksake17 · 04/03/2021 08:50

Hi @Cooltalkin 👋

@Puffincrossing I had decided not to weigh myself everyday as it was really starting to demotivate me when the numbers weren’t changing, was going to weigh yesterday but decided to wait until today- 2lbs down. I’m not going to weigh again until Sunday and I am keeping fingers crossed that I’ll be back in the 9’s 🤞🤞🤞

@Sithee the headaches and general feeling like s**t will pass! I had one day where I honestly felt like I was coming down with really bad flu but next day it was gone and I felt great 🤷🏻‍♀️ I suppose it’s a good reminder of just how badly we have been ‘abusing’ our bodies if moving to healthy eating makes the body feel like it’s coming off drugs!!

PhoenixMama · 04/03/2021 09:12

IT FINALLY HAPPENED! I finally broke my month long plateau! Down to 179 which means only 2lbs back to my previous Fast800 lowest. I used to be able to do 3lbs in a week but I'm hoping to lose another half lb this week. I think entering everything in MFP is definitely helping me stay on track.

Also finally did the 30 day shred. Damn it's hard. Going to do it 3 or 4 times a week but def not everyday.

Welcome @LockdownLard @Sithee @Cooltalkin This is a fab group and super encouraging - def feel free to ask questions as you go. Keto flu can feel awful in the beginning but by middle of week 2 should start to feel better!

Cooltalkin · 04/03/2021 11:00

2 days in and 2lb down !
I know it will be water etc but still happy with that
Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome

MintyCedric · 04/03/2021 13:21

Congratulations all on the losses!

I'm going to step away from the thread for a bit as life is just too stressful to attempt this WoE at the moment.

Am just going to concentrate on developing healthier habits and my general wellbeing until I'm in a better place, then maybe I'll have another crack at it.

Good luck all Smile Flowers

Forfecksake17 · 04/03/2021 14:10

@MintyCedric I think when you have other stresses and responsibilities it is really really difficult to ‘focus’ on this type of thing. I know I would be feeling exactly same as you.
Like you say if you just take some time away from feeling like you are following a diet and just try make healthy choices and take care of yourself then that is still a major win!
Hope everything settles down for you soon x

Puffincrossing · 05/03/2021 08:28

Congratulations phoenix. I think putting everything in mfp does help. It seems really time consuming at first but after a few weeks you can do it in seconds.

Congratulations cool it's a real boost seeing the weight come off isn't it? This woe is simple and it does work.

I've hit both my mini goals and am now in the next stone bracket, only by 0.2lbs though. I normally put on a little over the weekend so will be attempting to get back to it next week. I could be stricter with myself at the weekend but I need this to be something I sustain. Realistically I'm probably going to be on this weight loss journey for another year (and then I need to learn to maintain!), without small weekend splurge I could shorten that but I know without it I'll fall off wagon completely, so slow and steady for me.

WonkyDonks · 05/03/2021 10:53

Weigh in today and I have lost a total of 3kg , down to 91kg. It is coming off slowly but surely. I have bought myself some lovely walking boots so I can start trying to do 10000 steps a day! I am hoping this boosts my weight loss and I will have a much more impressive dip next Friday!

WonkyDonks · 05/03/2021 10:56

Oh and I have had my blood results back, I am not a diabetic, nor prediabetic. I am happy with this but it has still given me a much needed wake up call and I am more determined than ever to get rid of the 3 1/2 stone of extra timber than I have managed to pile on in the last 6 years!

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 06/03/2021 17:11

Afternoon all, can I join? It’s day three of the fast800 for me and I’m not feeling as crazy hungry as I thought I would - periods of hunger that tend to pass. I’ve just finished the book (which hasn’t entirely convinced me) but I can’t do this slowly again, it’s painful.
This morning I’ve woken up to a 3 pound loss which is great, long may it continue. Find the hardest part is waiting until 12 to eat- it seems to go so slowly even though I’m not ravenous.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 06/03/2021 17:13

Oh and I’ve gone through thriva to get a couple of blood tests done as well- don’t want to bug the nhs at the mo.
