Hello everyone. I was here last year and it was all going well. I eased off about over Christmas and compared to previous years I put on very little. I can't maintain 800 calories and no alcohol so I try to stick to 1000 and include alcohol twice a week. We're vegetarian and book does say that veggies might be better on 900/1000 calories to get all their protein. But, I don't seem to be losing anymore so I've come here to refocus. I am tracking on my fitness Pal and the only things I don't list is broccoli, cabbage or salad leaves. I do have a roast dinner on Sunday with half a bottle of wine but that is literally the only thing I eat all day surely it can't be that bad!?

So, since August I've lost 24lbs, nearly 2 stone in 6 months. I'm happy as Christmas was in there and I feel like I've found a way I can eat forever but I still need to lose another couple of stone. I'm getting a bit depressed at the scales not moving so need to be here and accountable.

MintyCedric · 18/02/2021 20:59

I'm back! Looks like everyone is doing really well Smile.

I'm weighing on Saturday but officially getting back on it as of Monday. This is the plan:

Breakfast smoothie
Mango, banana, pineapple, coconut water, fat free Greek yoghurt

Lunch
Miso soup with spring onion, leafy greens, mushroom, red pepper and baby corn
Crabsticks

Or

Asparagus wrapped in proscuitto with hard boiled eggs

Or

Bresaola, rocket and blue cheese wraps with tomatoes

Dinner
Tuna and bean salad
Salmon Nicoise salad
Tandoori chicken salad
Korean beef salad
Pork, pear and blue cheese salad

Aiming to do 3 walks and 3 lots of 15 minute toning exercises per week - legs/bum, abs and upper body. Have been really inspired by 16yo DD who put a fair bit of weight on last year thanks to lockdown and friendship issues and has completely got her shit together this year and is eating well and exercising every day.

Forfecksake17 · 19/02/2021 09:49

Hi again @MintyCedric hope things have settled down for you a wee bit with your family responsibilities. I’m same as you and aiming to get out walking next week, I am going to treat myself to a Fitbit this weekend to keep of my steps.

Hello @Puffincrossing 👋 2 stone in 6 months is great- especially with Christmas in there! Nice to have another ‘voice’ on this wee thread too.

Can’t believe it’s Friday again and week 2 is almost finished. I’m going to write myself a food plan for next week, I’m just kind of winging it at the moment and deciding each lunch/ dinner time what I’m going to have.

PhoenixMama · 19/02/2021 11:26

Welcome back @MintyCedric! WOuld you mind posting the recipe for the Korean Beef Salad - that sounds amazing!

Welcome @Puffincrossing! Well done on the 2 stone. It's frustrating when it slows down after being good for so long. I've definitely found I need to be stricter when it gets closer to my goal. I hate to say it but the alcohol will be having a bigger impact than you probably want to hear!

@Forfecksake17 I used to hate running with a passion but I headed out just after xmas because I felt so full and awful and thought I'd do the first week of C25K and just found I enjoyed it this time round. Partly because its the only 35 mins I got entirely to myself, out of the house and away from everything. Really missing that.

Joining you all on the walking - aiming for 10k steps a day as a goal because I have to be careful with my calf too - physio thinks I have 2 tears which is not ideal and I don't want to be off it for too long.

I'm back to my same old plateau 180 today which is fine. Next week I swear I'm going to break through that bloody number. 3 weeks of plateau is enough! Have a great Friday everyone!

MintyCedric · 19/02/2021 11:59

@PhoenixMama

It's not a recipe as such. Just take whatever cut of steak you fancy and marinade it - I used a sachet of Schwartz Korean Seasoning, plus a tablespoon each of honey, sesame oil and liquid smoke and lime juice to taste.

Then pan fry or grill whenever you're ready, slice thinly and serve with whatever salad bits you like.

I did buddha bowls the other week so there was a small portion of wholemeal rice, chargrilled tenderstem broccoli, sweet potato, mango, avocado, red onion and thinly sliced radishes.

I'll probably leave out the rice and sweet potato this week and do a rockety salad with the other bits plus peppers, cucumber and tomato.

MintyCedric · 19/02/2021 12:17

I've also incentivised myself by ordering this

The hope being that Covid will have f*cked off by then end of the year and I'll be I sufficient shape to go out and party on NYE

Forfecksake17 · 19/02/2021 13:44

@MintyCedric the jumpsuit is lovely! Such a good idea to have something to aspire to and keep you motivated. I might have to steal that idea- if nothing else it gives me an excuse for some internet shopping!!😃

MintyCedric · 19/02/2021 15:21

Tbh it joins several items in my wardrobe that have thus far failed to inspire me sufficiently for me to stick to any kind of diet, but perhaps this will be the one!

Puffincrossing · 19/02/2021 18:41

Thank you for the welcome Smile Phoenix I am half a stone heavier than you and feel like I've been here far too long as well. As the scales were really depressing me I tried on a smaller pair of jeans.... and they fit! I feel better now as I feel that it is all making a difference however slow.

Unfortunately I had promised the DC pizza this evening so I've eaten masses of carbs. Will get right back on it tomorrow though. I can not go back into old jeans!

shreddergodo · 19/02/2021 19:11

@Puffincrossing welcome! And welcome back @MintyCedric

Everyone has some good plans for next week. Did okay today still not getting calories under 800 and weight loss has not budged this week. Also due on in a few days so I think I’m just exhausted and unmotivated.

Need some low calorie high protein vegan lunch options, I’ve seen a lot of amazing looking miso soups on Instagram might go for that next week. This weekend I’m going to try some new recipes, I need soemthing that’s easy though or I just won’t do it.

@Forfecksake17 I know what you mean and you’re right... I often wonder if my friendship is healthy with her. I just feel like I care too much and if I didn’t it wouldn’t be a problem .. whatever happened to your friend?

Forfecksake17 · 19/02/2021 20:29

@shreddergodo if you find any good miso soup recipes could you post them? I need some inspiration for easy high protein lunch options.
The situation with my friend came to head after I had my daughter, I was struggling with quite bad post natal depression and was really struggling to leave house and be ‘social’, my friend had recently had her baby too but was right in the midst of going out for lunch and coffee with lots of other new mums who were , in the main, all quite financially well off stay at home/ go to the gym types ( I’ve nothing against any stay at home mums at all in any way! In fact I was glad to get back to work for a break 😂 so I have full respect for ladies who look after their children 24/7 ) anyway I felt like she was constantly just making me feel shit and a bit pathetic for not getting my hair and makeup done and taking my perfect baby out to be displayed! After I came out of the post natal fog I kinda just saw it all in a different way and decided that the friendship was actually toxic to me.
She tried to contact me a couple of years later and we agreed to meet up but even in the text messages to organise that I could tell that actually nothing had changed and I just didn’t want to go back into it again. I just had to tell her that I thought it probably wasn’t a good idea to meet up, wished her well and that was that. I can honestly say it was a weight of my shoulders!

MintyCedric · 20/02/2021 13:43

The jumpsuit has turned up...I have never seen anything that looks less like a size 16 in my life, and the fabric is not especially forgiving.

I know it's Lipsy but I thought vanity sizing meant things come up bigger these days Confused?

Anyway, my ultimate plan is to get down to a 12/14 and if all else fails, it was £13 down from £65 so I'm sure I'll be able to make my money back on eBay if necessary.

Forfecksake17 · 20/02/2021 16:10

@MintyCedric in my ( vast 😬) experience Lipsy sizes are tiiiny so definitely don’t be disheartened!

I have treated myself to fancy new scales - which I am sure are about to become my most hated possession as they are going to spit out the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth about just how outrageous my weight/ body fat / visceral fat really is 😖
Also got myself an exercise mat and ketone dip sticks so I am 100% ready for week 3!!
Just making my cauliflower dough for my pizza base and I am strangely feeling like it’s a proper treat - what the hell has happened to me!!! 😂

shreddergodo · 20/02/2021 19:52

Day 20 - 10 stone 3.5 (PMS)
@Forfecksake17 Wow your story is eerily similar to mine, I also took a big step back when I had DC as I was really good and not taking any BS, was in my blissful happy mat leave bubble and was very protective of that and toxicity was really transparent then. I think I have this issue though but I feel this person has previously gotten the best out of me in a way... there's this feeling that trying to impress her as made me work hard for things that I may not have achieve without that drive... I dunno if it was a friend of mine in my situation I'd say ghost the h out of that person!

Not reaaaally on it today either, no processed sugar and kept with my 16:8. Will see how I go tomorrow, I haven't been feeling very well tbh but week 4 I want to get back on it. Now that my knee has healed enough for me to get outside and walk in the mornings I'm going to be religious with a 1/1.30h walk in the mornings and get out and about with my son more. The weather looks OK this week too so that's a positive.

I also think that I'll enjoy a little blow out on 1st of March and get myself some treats to enjoy and just get back on the diet until easter.

I'm going to be a bit more planned with my days and meals next week too.

PhoenixMama · 20/02/2021 21:51

Wow thread is moving fast today! Yesterday & today have been write offs for me. Long story but had a panic attack yesterday and that always screws with my eating/energy/craving/wellbeing. Going to be strict tomorrow and Monday. Have to make a cake for a friend on Tuesday for our walk and have promised him to have some prosecco on our walk so feeling a bit frustrated but I know if I never celebrate the people close to me, especially now, then I won't stay on the plan longer term because why would you give up everything nice forever! And after this one there's no birthdays till mine in April!

@MintyCedric - I totally agree with @Forfecksake17 Lipsy is TINY - I even have to buy my daughter 2 sizes up, definitely not vanity sizing with them!

Off to bed - been a looooong day (been working all day) and sleep will help me get over yesterday too! Here's to a good day tomorrow!

Whattheladybirdsaidnext · 21/02/2021 10:14

Hi- can I join? I did this successfully last lockdown, but emotional eating at the end of last year has got me right back where I was, plus a bit. I know that following this diet will make me feel so much better but I’m struggling to even get started and I’m hoping joining the group will help.

Forfecksake17 · 21/02/2021 13:12

Hi@Whattheladybirdsaidnext 👋
It’s great to have people in here who have previous isotope experience, helps to keep the ‘newbies’ like me motivated!
I’m starting my 3rd week tomorrow and so far I’m actually quite enjoying it. I feel so much better in myself, more energy and not going to bed/ waking up disgusted with myself!
Getting started is always always the hardest part isn’t it! Good thing is you’ve done it before so you know you can do it again. 😊

@phoenixmama I hope you had a nice long sleep and that today is a better day for you!
My daughter has just asked if we can bake later so feeling your pain on having to make a cake for your friend.

I’ve just been for a 9 mile walk which was actually really nice, I’m aching a bit but not too bad. I’m going for a nice radox bath and then a goats cheese salad for lunch 🥗

Forfecksake17 · 21/02/2021 13:13

No idea why the word ‘isotope’ just inserted itself into that last post!! 😂

Whattheladybirdsaidnext · 21/02/2021 22:33

I still haven’t managed to start. 😬

texican · 22/02/2021 07:44

Morning all, happy Monday!

I'm back, tail semi between legs after having half term off plan but I did make a conscious choice to do so, so not feeling too bad about it. It was week 7 and I was feeling like mentally I needed a break so back on it now for the next 6 weeks. Working in education is hard because every 6/7 weeks there's a 'holiday' which means indulgence, even when (like last week) I am working not even off! It's a holiday mindset thing I think which is fine if there's only 4 weeks holiday a year but 13 is what made me fat!!! Put on 6lbs last week according to the scales and think at least 2/3lbs is a genuine increase not just water. Good incentive to crack on.

So, back on it today. Have also started planning my lunches to try and get some variety in there as I think it was lunches that I was getting bored by last time. Problem is time in the day to make anything as work is so busy so tried to focus on things I can make up in advance and keep in fridge ready (eg a tuna butterbean salad for today).

This is a very busy work week and feeling a little deflated even going into it so will need the strength of the growing numbers on here to keep me going! Welcome @Whattheladybirdsaidnext and any other newbies last week. Good idea to buy some inspirational clothes @MintyCedric. I've been watching Scandal and coveting everything Olivia Pope wears so maybe at the end I'll treat myself to a nice top or coat!!! Hope you're feeling better @PhoenixMama 💐

PhoenixMama · 22/02/2021 10:05

Morning! Thanks for all your kind words & welcome @Whattheladybirdsaidnext!

So I'm at the same weight that I have been for the last 3 weeks which is massively frustrating. I think, sadly, that it comes down to alcohol. I've not drank much but 1-2 drinks a week and in Jan I lost a lot but didn't drink at all. So after birthday celebrations for my friend on Tuesday I'm going to be sober till the end of March and lose as much as I can until the world becomes social again and I start going out!

Spotsandstars · 22/02/2021 12:37

What is going on? Starting 4th week today, apart from a 7lb loss in the first week I've lost nothing.
I workout every day and walking.
No refined sugar and reduced carbs (no bread, rice, potatoes etc etc)
Literally eat less then I've ever done, I've had to up my calories to about 1100 a day now but log everything.
I've got 3 stone to loose and I do IF I never have cheat days etc
Anyone similar experience?

Squaretoe · 22/02/2021 12:38

Hope everyone’s okay!
On Saturday I’d lost 1st exactly in just under 3 weeks! I was so happy that I spent the weekend eating everything 😂 Back on it today and DH is doing 5:2 in support.

Forfecksake17 · 22/02/2021 14:34

@Spotsandstars I am feeling your pain. I had a great first week and lost 8lbs but last week ( week 2) I only managed to lose about 2lbs although tbh it might have only been 1lb! My scales lost the plot so I bought new ones at the weekend which added a pound back on 🤦🏻‍♀️
I’m feeling very demotivated today and could happily eat my entire body weight in carbs right now!! I have been doing a HIIT workout every day and walked for 9 bastard miles yesterday but it seems my body is in some form of protest and hanging on to every pound of excess fat I have.
Logically though it MUST change at some point- I am eating at LEAST half the amount of calories I was ( in actual fact it’s probably less than a third of what I was eating) plus I’m exercising so unless I am a human anomaly then at some point the weight has got to start coming off!

@Squaretoe well done on the 1stone loss!! That’s really great! It is giving me some hope that week 3 might be better than my week 2 🤞

PhoenixMama · 22/02/2021 15:05

Well done @Squaretoe!!!

@Spotsandstars Have you been taking inches? Sometimes that shows first for me. I find every time I go over 900 cals my losses stop. over 1000 and I def don't lose. Can you drop your cals a bit? Also are you drinking 3L+ of water? Water and salt make a huge difference for me too. Also if you're doing muscle building exercise that can actually slow weight loss down in the beginning (muscle weighing more than fat) I had that problem last time I took up running when I was doing this...
