Thanks @PhoenixMama, I’ll aim for that.

Finished eating for day 1, I went slightly over calories as I made too much veg and didn’t want to waste it (or I was fking starving and wanted to stuff my face Blush). Finishing the day on 836kcal and 43g carbs. I am so tired! I haven’t done anything!

Chunkymonkey123 · 01/02/2021 17:54

That’s brilliant @Squaretoe well done!

3 pounds down in week one which is good considering I’ve been doing the med diet but not the 800 cals.
I had this for dinner tonight from the first 800 recipe book and it was lovely! Even my DH commented which is unusual! I did have to skim off the fat layer that came off the chicken thighs as I’m not keen on that.

Day 1 - Weigh in: 66.8kg

Fasted no worries from 8pm to 12noon. Slightly messy start as a friend is coming for lunch and we had planned to get bagels so will be having that but have a fast800 meal planned tonight and will be strictly on the diet as of tomorrow.

Currently reading the book and it's blowing my mind, the brain health, the anxiety... it's all so appealing and it's motivating me more than the weightloss, though of course the weight excess affects my anxiety and consumes brain power too...

anyone fancy sharing their why (reason why you're doing this)? I love reading them...

MintyCedric · 01/02/2021 19:33

After saying I didn't really fancy the chicken ramen, this was the result and it was absolutely delicious!

Morning all!

Weight still up from the weekend which shows me the impact that even one day of alcohol a week has on my body. I'm 2lb down from a week ago which is good but it is a bit disheartening to have seen a new low weight Saturday morning and still be 1lb off it on Tuesday because of Saturday evening drinks!

@shreddergodo good question. I am a big advocate of fasting and did the 5:2 5 years ago - lost 2 stone but carried on the fasting for a few years afterwards due to the intended health benefits. I think this will be the same. Most importantly, though, this time around I think it was to regain some control. I had a couple of difficult months before Christmas where my eating and drinking had got quite a bit out of control and I didn't seem to be able to reign it in, which scared me a bit. This has given me back my rational 'do I actually want to eat this?' control that I loved when doing 5:2 and it's been the best side effect by far. The weight loss is v nice too though!!!

@MintyCedric that ramen looks delicious! Congrats on weight loss! @Chunkymonkey123 thank you for sharing that recipe. Looks like perfect February late-winter fare! @Squaretoe the tiredness does pass but I know exactly what you mean. I had it bad for about a week from day 6 onwards and it did actually feel like the flu. ....I was also quite grumpy 🙈

I had been weirdly craving duck breast for a few weeks (such an odd craving!) and couldn’t get it anywhere. Anyway, found some in Tesco on Sunday, re-mortgaged my house to pay for it and had half a breast with soy bean sprouts and a scrambled egg for lunch yesterday - it was really disappointing which was so sad after all that thinking about it! So need to rethink my lunch today as not sure I want the other half for lunch. Might just revert to good old scrambled eggs! Tuna steak and butterbean mash for dinner ☺️

Have a great day everyone! ☀️

texican · 02/02/2021 07:33

Just looked up what duck cravings can mean and it can be because you're deficient in B vitamins, zinc or selenium so I'm going back to the trusty daily multi-vitamin spray in case I've been craving it for a deficiency reason. Quite a specific craving so feeling that it could well be because I'm deficient in something. Random internet spiral of the day!!!

shreddergodo · 02/02/2021 08:51

Day 2
Feeling OK, actually feeling good.

Meal plan:
Brkfst: Black coffee, water
Lunch: Tofu stirfry with lots of veg
Dinner: Big salad with dry grilled veggies and hummus.

Going shopping soon so will stock up. I think I'll have to get better at weighing and portioning things out, I think the calorie restriction is something I'll need to get used to- not the eating of a small amount but the effort haha! But will be worth it.
I've put a few social things on hold for this month so I can focus, and I feel good about that... giving myself space to do this properly and get back to feeling better about myself.

PhoenixMama · 02/02/2021 09:41

Morning all! @texican hear you on the booze front - I had sugar over the weekend and I feel the same way, no way is this many days of bloat and uncomfortableness worth it but I do need to find a way to partake in celebrations without derailing myself totally.

@shreddergodo I started this in 2019 because I'd gained a lot of weight from medications I take and every dr just told me I had to live with it but I hated that my outsides didn't match the person I am on the inside. I figured if I lost a tiny bit it would be a success and then I lost 21lbs in the first month and felt in control for the first time in ages. This time round my reasons are far more vain lol - I wanted to lose the lockdown weight but I'm also single again for the first time in over 3 years and knowing you're going to be naked in front of someone new is always a good motivator lol. Obviously, it's about how I feel rather than look actually but I want that level of confidence that comes with being comfortable in your own skin.

Evil scale is saying I'm 2lbs down on yesterday but 2lbs up from last week... which is annoying but maybe I'll have a 'whoosh'...

Did my run and days 2/30 days of yoga already. Breakfast is 2 eggs, lunch is going to be a COOK meal for 1 (about 300cals) and dinner is salmon with broccoli and greens.

DD has a cough and isn't feeling well so we're off for dreaded Covid tests later... ugh!

Squaretoe · 02/02/2021 12:56

Love reading everyone’s progress!

Hope your DD is okay @PhoenixMama

Day 2, lost 2.5lb since yesterday morning so a good start. Unintentionally had a 19 hour fast so was really ready for lunch! Tuna, boiled eggs and green salad. Dinner will be white fish cooked in a bit of olive oil, and broccoli. Apple and cheese for a snack, I know fruit isn’t ideal but I’ll still be under 50g carbs.

shreddergodo · 02/02/2021 13:24

@PhoenixMama Absolutely brilliant how you've just stuck it to those doctors. That's so inspiring. I agree re- being naked in front of new people and I also feel like our self-worth (event though it shouldn't) can be affected by appearance and if your self worth is high you won't think about putting up with any bad relationships haha!
Fingers crossed for your whoosh! (Do you listen to the secret world of slimming clubs podcast by any chance?)

I feel like running sometimes makes me gain a little overall as I think when you've exerted yourself your muscle retain water weight. Don't let it mess with your head.

Fingers crossed for your covid tests, must be nerve wracking!!!!

Chunkymonkey123 · 02/02/2021 20:45

947 today including a glass of red wine. Feeling hungry but much less than last week. Miscalculated dinner so ended up having courgette with cream cheese and chicken for dinner which was surprisingly nice.

Well done to everyone else, some really good losses!

funtimefrank · 02/02/2021 21:31

Good to see some good results everyone.

I'm back on the horse after my upsetting weekend and it's all good. Not hungry or thinking too much about food.

Did day 1 of c25k with dd today. I've done before but havent run for a good few months and dd needs something to get her up and out when Dd2 plays football with dh. I've also been doing Lucy Wyndham read micro workouts in an attempt to boost metabolism and got back on the yoga horse. I need to get back into the habit of getting up at a reasonable hour in the week to get the exercise done first thing.

I am still quite baffled about the weight loss as I am definitely smaller. I ordered a bunch of clothes with my Christmas money and the size 14s all fit nicely/with space and the size 16 jacket I bought as it was the only size left in the sale is mahoosive. Pre Christmas a 14 was a squeeze/I was kidding myself. Ah well, kbo.....,

Squaretoe · 02/02/2021 22:07

People that have been doing this for a while: what’s the longest you’ve done on 800kcal? I’m planning to try to stick to it for the next 8 weeks at least, can I just carry on after that? Or are you supposed to have a break from it before going back?

PhoenixMama · 02/02/2021 22:18

@funtimefrank I think clothing fit is much more reliable that scales! Good for you! I easily zipped up a 14 (from Oasis so not vanity sizing lol) today and was super happy with that. The tiniest I've ever been (pre-child and in my 20's) was a 12 so If I can get back to a loose 14 I'll be thrilled.

@Squaretoe I did 20 weeks in 2019 (when I lost the 48lbs) but the last 4 weeks were a wee bit lax (probably verging on 2:5) But I kept it off for over a year before it started creeping back on in lockdown.

Closing the kitchen at 679 - but I didn't measure the soy sauce I put on my salmon so I'll call it 800... Starting to feel a bit rubbish so really hoping its just a normal bug...

texican · 03/02/2021 06:54

Morning all. Good to see you back @funtimefrank, well done for getting back on the fast horse 😊 for me clothing fit is my primary motivator compared to weight as although it's nice to see a smaller number, no one else can see the scales but they can see me in my clothes! So vanity prevails and I want to be smaller if I'm losing weight.

@PhoenixMama sorry you're feeling a bit rubbish. Was your daughter's test ok? I also find running or any exercise means I don't lose as quickly but I notice in my strength and fitness which I would like to improve again.

I've changed my 'official' weigh day from a Monday to a Weds and pleased to say that last Weds-today I'm down 2lbs. Now that I'm allowing myself a night with alcohol on a Saturday I find it skews my results until basically Weds so hoping for another couple of days good loss before it's the weekend again. I'm still sooo close to next stone bracket - now only 0.2lbs (have bounced up since my last lowest which was 0.6lbs away). Going in the right direction but sloooowwww.

Have a great day all'

PhoenixMama · 03/02/2021 08:48

Morning! @texican What you're talking about is why I moved my weigh in day to Friday morning - gives me a week to get over whatever damage I do during the weekend!

Scale is saying I'm down another 1lb but 0.5 up on last week. Covid tests came back negative but neither of us is feeling great... Is anyone else's sleep really pants? Mine is awful. Can't fall asleep but wake up early! I'm shattered!

Easy work day today (thank goodness, yesterday was crazy) - eggs for breakfast, soup for lunch and the gorgeous lamb tagine from the Fast800 Cookbook!

shreddergodo · 03/02/2021 11:08

Day 3 - Weigh in 66.1 - Pretty chuffed, though obviously mostly water weight.

Meal plan today:
B- black coffee/ a green tea/ water
L- mince and avocado wraps
D- Linda McCartney sausages and salad

shreddergodo · 03/02/2021 11:29

I'm adding a protein shake in there as I"m struggling to get enough protein :)

PhoenixMama · 03/02/2021 13:01

@shreddergodo What was your loss?

shreddergodo · 03/02/2021 16:04

@PhoenixMama Lost 2lbs in 3 days but pretty sure it's water weight as I ate a massive pizza and bagels on sunday/monday! My sleep is crap too- I'm chalking it down to the fact that I used to self medicated my anxiety with food and drink haha and go to bed and sleep ok wish but wake up feeling like crap tbh. I've been much more alert in the mornings so far, though only 2 mornings in haha!

Has anyone tried the Fast800 shakes? Tempted by the chocolate option as a sweet treat in the evening and a way too boost my protein intake.

RedHotChiliChips · 03/02/2021 22:43

@shreddergodo I have the Fast800 strawberry shake and sadly it's pretty vile. Only because it has Stevia in it and I really hate it. In anything! If you are not sensitive to Stevia, then you may be ok and like the shakes.

I have tried to make the shakes with extra berries, greek yogurt, some ice cubs, almond milk combos and blend it all in the nutribullet but still vile. The taste of Stevia just seeps through no matter what. They are also quite grainy in texture, even if you bliz it through NutriBullet. Tbh that didn't bother me but I have read that many really disliked the texture.

texican · 04/02/2021 06:39

Morning everyone...well, exactly a month since I started this.....

I'm in the 9s!!! Ok, by 0.2lbs but I'm taking that. So nice to see a different stone number on the scales, it really has been years since a 9. I still have plenty to go. Original target was 9 stone 7 as I maintained around that for a while, but maybe it should be slightly less with 9'7 being my 'take action' point. I shall see. Despite my excitement, it really is more about my shape and size and I feel like I still have lots to go in certain areas (especially visceral fat) so I think I'll play it by ear.

I'm likely to have half term off to an extent too, although reflecting on that I think I'll still try and eat the same lower carb foods just not restricting at 800. It's mainly alcohol that might be more than usual as I'll probably drink more than one night. Making me a bit nervous!

@PhoenixMama sorry you're feeling rubbish. Rest up and lots of nutritious yummy food. It's hard when days are busy when working at home as it's just so much sitting and screen time and it can take its toll, especially with tired eyes. When my sleep was bad I made myself go for a 20min walk at first light as I read it helps to reset your circadian rhythms. I think it helped, plus I got some magnesium oil which people suggest helps with sleep too. I already take daily vit d which may or may not help!

Lovely that the thread is active again. Have a great day everyone.

PhoenixMama · 04/02/2021 09:28

Morning all - finally down from last week to 180 (which is wild considering on Monday I was 185!) 3lbs from my lowest weight last year. I can't wait to get back there!!! I reckon it will probably be 2 weeks before I hit that (given progress so far) but then I think that has me on track to meet my main goal by end of March.

I usually run at first light but I was so exhausted and sore this morning after another rough night's sleep that I decided to take an extra day of rest and do yoga and go for a walk later.

Magnesium is a great shout @texican - I've got some, I just need to remember to take it lol!

Lunch today is a cook meal and dinner is thai chicken and greens. I'm always less strict when I'm shattered so I need to be focussed today!

Squaretoe · 04/02/2021 12:23

Day 4, no loss overnight but I’ve lost 4.5lbs since Monday so I’m pleased with that. Still really tired, hoping that passes soon.

When did everyone stop feeling hungry alllll day?
