...hopefully this time next week I'll be in the 9s!!!

@texican I'll be lucky to ever see that on the scales again. Slimmest I've ever been at 5' 3 was 9st 1lb, size 10/12. If I can get down to between 10 - 10.5 I'll be happy.

@PhoenixMama congrats on the run! I'm trying to fit in a couple of weekday walks as well as the Sunday one with my best mate.

Feeling pretty rubbish this morning. Overnight with the Olds last night. My mum is driving me nuts and having been positive all week I just don't feel like I can cope with her atm. Wonder if it's the blood sugars rebalancing a bit?

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 29/01/2021 12:13

@PhoenixMama how do you cook the eggs? I have one plus some vegetables and rice cakes usually.

shreddergodo · 29/01/2021 18:51

Hi all!

Joining in - most likely have a Monday 1st Feb start date. Will weigh in then but around 67kg at the moment, my usual weight around 60. Was around 63 pre lockdown.

I guess my first goal weight is to get to around 63, ultimately 60 would be ideal- it's where i feel my best.

I eat so much sugar, it's not funny, since having my DS. I love him to bits but I never have any energy, I always feel fuzzy and i'm sick of it.
This morning I saw my arms in the light of day and wow guys WOW. FAT and cellulite and I'm just not taking care of myself. I'm always saying 'tomorrow'. I also feel like I look old and haggered too and I'm only 30... I've read that sugar does that to you.

I'm vegan so i'm sure it will be a slight deviation but have been seeing you guys meals and looks like a few things i can enjoy from there. I have a toddler though so will be cooking pasta, rice et for him whilst i eat nout haha. But i'm really looking forward to this, not only the weigh loss but to the energy and the reset. I got the FAST800 book from the library :P

More about me: I'm 30 and my husband and I both work from home part time/ I also am a nurse in orthopaedics so that's nice and active but I'm down to 1 shift a week at the moment after injuring my knee. I need to get back to running after I've healed my knee!

My WHY: I'm sick of feeling fat in my scrubs. Sick of not feeling like me, of not looking like ME in the mirror. sick of the stress and anxiety of getting dressed. Sick of being the 'fat one' in my group of friends. Sick of my husband being very half hearted about my appearance (he's never cruel, but he used to be kind of obsessed with me and I miss that). I want to feel and look like ME and ME is someone with enthusiasm and energy.I want to get up and play with my DS, run around, run with my friends (when possible). I want to enjoy my 30s. I hated my body for the whole of my 20s. I can't stand the thought of doing that again.
Also- what better time to start than right now when i can't socialise haha!

Adding some style inspo here as I love Emma stone... I just think she's chick and cute and I want to feel like that in my clothes :)

Evening all

Just popping in to say a quick hello as I'm lurking.

Good luck new starters. Re vegan options I am a pescatarian but do eat veggie/vegan fairly often. Am a great fan of cauldron veggie sausages (not sure if they are vegan?) and Waitrose vegan meatballs as fairly low carb options plus I have tofu in my stir fry's and salads quite a few times a week - tomorrow's lunch is tofu and avocado lettuce wraps.

I must say my other lifesaver is slim rice - expensive and a faff to make taste ok but it's a once a week treat when I want to feel like I need a carby side. I do happily eat cauliflower rice (Iceland frozen stuff is my fav) and courgetti but I do miss the plainess of rice and pasta and the bulk of it and it's only 18 cals for the whole pack!

I am now reaching the end of my month so it's weigh in day either tomorrow or Sunday. If I am less than 11 7 then I am switching to 5:2 to shift another 7-10lb slowly and if not I carry on. I have lost an inch and a half off my waist and 2 inches off my hips and my tits look bigger (which means I've lost around my torso) so I hope I'm not a million miles off.

greyinganddecaying · 30/01/2021 02:23

Hi - I'm hoping to join you. I listened to the webinar with Michael Moseley a week ago & thought I'd give it a go.

I have a huge amount to lose - probably about 50kg. I'm going to attempt the 800 for as long as I can & see how it goes. I don't eat a huge amount/much junk, so it will be interesting to see how it goes.

I'm trying not to fixate on the numbers (weight) but shrinking in size, being able to get into clothes etc.

funtimefrank · 30/01/2021 10:33

So I weighed in and I cried. 11 13. So miles off what I was hoping for. Before Christmas I was 12 4/5 so either I put on a lot over Christmas (which is depressing in itself because whilst I did eat quite a bit, not an horrid amount) or I've only lost 6/7 lbs in 4 weeks eating only 800 cals per day:(

So I'm going to take today off - not in a huge binge way but I've had a bit of toast for breakfast and may have a takeaway for dinner. Then get back on it tomorrow and see if I can shift the same again in feb. My goal is to get under 11 stone (still a bit overweight but historically a sustainable weight for me). I could be there by April.

Also going to look at my exercise and see if I can build up my strength a bit more. I still have half of 30 days with Adrienne to finish (awful work stress) plus dd1 and I are starting c25k this week - I've done it before but I need to get her out of the house.

SighSad

MintyCedric · 30/01/2021 11:20

I caved and had a takeaway and half a bottle of wine last night. At least I didnt go for a creamy curry - chicken korai with a shared portion of coconut and a garlic naan (appalling but it's sooo good!)

So damage limitation for me today, just had a coffee and a bowl of orange and grapefruit segments, chicken satay tonight...it's one of DD's faves, but we're having it as a salad rather than with piles of sauce and rice or noodles.

www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/chicken-satay-salad

Meal planned and shopping delivery has arrived for the rest of the week (not necessarily in order):

Tuna puttanesca and roasted veg

Jerk chicken salad

IKEA style meatballs, veg (chunky oven baked chips for DD)

Chicken Ramen Bowl

Korean BBQ Beef Buddha bowl.

There a few wholewheat cards in there but small portions and no cards at all in the rest of the day's meals. I guess I'm gravitating slightly more to GI, but it still making me think more about my food intake and I'm logging it on an app which is helpful.

PhoenixMama · 30/01/2021 11:37

Morning gang! Loving the flurry of activity!

Welcome to @shreddergodo & @greyinganddecaying!

Shredder - 7kgs is really not much on this woe. I think for me how I feel is so much more important than the way I look, whether that's confidence in my clothes or just my body feeling like it operates so much better on low carb/low sugar. My brain works better too!

Grey - I lost 48lbs the first time I did this in about 20 weeks so its definitely doable to lose larger amounts (although the amount per week does start to drop). Highly recommend tracking your food on MFP or similar.

@BarryWhiteIsMyBrother I do a very light fry (tiny bit of oil in a non-stick pan) I actually love it because it's decent protein, super low carb and it fills me up!

@funtimefrank It sucks when you think you're further ahead than where you are. How often are you weighing? My weight fluctuates so much from day to day that if I weigh on a bad day I can be out by as much as 3lbs!

So I'm using today as my end of month 1 results:

Weight lost: 11.2lbs
Body Fat: -4%
Waist: -2.5"
Hips: -1"
Belly: -2"
Bust: -1.5"
Chest: -2"
Thigh: -1"
Bicep: -1"
Total inches lost: 11

I'd hoped to lose a stone this month but there have definitely been some tough emotional moments which is my Achilles heel but I've done almost 30 days of yoga everyday and tomorrow I'll run for 20 mins without stopping which I couldn't imagine doing a month ago.

So I have 4.4lbs to get back to my lowest last year and 13.4lbs to my final goal. Planning to do 12 weeks properly so hoping in Feb I can lose another 5-7lbs. Definitely need to start tracking my carb intake more closely to keep it under 50g!

Tomorrow is my friend's birthday (and we're bubbled) so there will be treats and cake so going to be very good today and then back at it on Monday!

Marsis · 30/01/2021 16:39

I had my first ‘evening off yesterday’ Nando’s and dessert. I ate less than usual and straight back on today.

Lost 6.95kg and 1.5% body fat since I got my fancy scales on 3rd of January. Feels like it’s working for me.

Going to make the Parmesan chicken tonight. Don’t have ground almonds but another recipe with polenta came up and have some so will try that.

texican · 30/01/2021 19:57

Hi everyone, so lovely to see new and lurking faces! Problem is I'm on my phone so can't respond to people properly individually but welcome and hi.

I've had a semi day off today - still low carb in food (not so low cal!), and only one meal today. Made the Hairy Bikers skinny lasagne (of sorts) which uses leek sheets instead of lasagne sheets. I say of sorts because I basically made my usual bolognaise and bechamel sauce rather than the recipe (higher cals obvs!) but used the leek sheets instead. It was actually lovely and I didn't miss the pasta. The only downside was the top leek layer didn't quite 'hold' the bechamel and cheese in the same way that pasta would (I.e. crispy and naughty!) but it all mixed together. Still lovely.

I have however had some wine - and two squares of 85% dark chocolate which is the first choc I've had since Christmas. It's not quite hit the sugar spot but have looked at the carbs and cals and actually not as bad as I thought it was!

So great to see new people here and I found it really interesting to see your weekly menu @MintyCedric. @PhoenixMama still great losses - scale and non-scale - even if not quite at your goal yet. @marsis and minty impressive to have your takeaway and get back on it. I'm thinking ahead to half term and would quite like to have a good few days 'off' but also scared of losing the momentum which I've actually become really proud of. So nice to start feeling slimmer and don't want to lose that.

PhoenixMama · 31/01/2021 11:07

Oooh @texican That lasagna sounds great!

Not weighing today but.. I ran for 20 mins straight today with C25K AND completed 30 days of yoga so I'm really impressed with myself! Lol.

Today's the mini-birthday party so I'm cutting myself some slack but will need to be back on it super hard tomorrow. Goal for next week is to record everything in MFP so I know where my carbs are at and can really make sure I stay within low range.

I'm also starting a new 30 days of yoga (last year's) because it's brought so much calm, steadiness to my life this month when I have definitely needed it!

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

greyinganddecaying · 31/01/2021 11:59

I'm cooking Sunday roast today. It's pork, so probably high fat so I'll have to bear that in mind for calories but am I right in thinking that if I avoid potatoes and carrots I should be ok?

shreddergodo · 31/01/2021 12:40

@funtimefrank - So sorry you feel dissapointed- a good idea to just take today off and join again- I'll be starting Monday too :) thank you for all your tips that's really helpful- I hadn't ever heard of slim rice but sounds like a great option if you fancy that satisfying 'bulkiness' if that makes sense- really good to know for when I'm craving that. I also would like to switch to 5:2 when I'm nearing my goal weight as I don't want to go 'crazy' at the end of a big restriction time.

@PhoenixMama Absolutely BRILLIANT results in a month- WOW! I know exactly what you mean- how you feel is so essential, it's so important to have the right mindset too- I want to feel like I'm doing this for me, not to punish myself or wtv if that makes sense. yeah, as far as I've seen , 7kg is on the lower end of what people are managing to lose on this amazing woe but I really need something that will motivate me and more importantly, I have no energy and I'm obsessed with sweets- so that part really appealed too! 30 days of yoga sounds great- I might actually join you on Monday- will have to modify for my knee is all. Before lockdown I was going to classes 2-3 times a week and it really really helped with everything from back ache to mental health.

@Marsis WOW well done.

I have a question for people living with partners NOT doing the diet/kids- how do you manage- any tips? I'm not exactly hiding my diet from my partner but I've got a feeling he will think it's too restrictive...he says I don't need to lose weight which is very lovely of him but it's how I FEEL not how I look that matters to me ATM.

Marsis · 31/01/2021 14:26

Thanks @shreddergodo, regarding the rest of the house it does take a bit of extra thought but is helpful that I am eating quite simple meat and veg type food so i quite often have a left over piece of chicken and some stir fry or just take the potatoes off for me if it’s something like that. My OH probably similar he did say oh you don’t need to make separate for me then wasn’t impressed by the lack of carbs. He doesn’t fully ‘get’ the restrictions either and would probably have something to say if he did.

Squaretoe · 31/01/2021 17:39

I’ve been lurking for a while and have decided I’m starting tomorrow! Book has been ordered, I’ve had two “practice” days of fasting 8pm-12pm and I’ve written out a meal plan for the first week. Really hoping I can lose a good chunk in the first month, I’ve got about 4st to lose in total.

Chunkymonkey123 · 31/01/2021 18:18

I did this last summer and it worked well so back on it again now. Change of user name, I used to be postmanbear.

I’ve recently bought the cookbook and enjoying the recipes. Had the salmon with broccoli and pea mash tonight which was lovely.
I’ve been going since last Monday but it’s only really the past two days that my appetite has reduced. I was so hungry the first few days that I was well over with calories but trying to get my carbs under control.
Tomorrow we are having the easy chicken casserole, I’ll report back how it is.

PhoenixMama · 31/01/2021 18:38

@greyinganddecaying Sorry just saw this - generally if you avoid root veg you'll be ok.

@shreddergodo I often make a carb side for dd - so we'll have the same main but she'll have spaghetti and I'll have courgette or I'll make her potato or rice on the side but not have any myself. I've also cut right back on the amount of bread, biscuits, etc I have in the house - i.e. only enough for her snacks so I don't pilfer them myself!

Welcome @Squaretoe & @Chunkymonkey123

We had our party food today and it's really interesting how much my palette has changed - I found the cake too sweet and couldn't have any more than my piece - a long way from the 'sneaking all the cake I could eat' days...

Actually looking forward to eating less than 800 cals tomorrow!

shreddergodo · 31/01/2021 20:09

Thanks everyone for the advice.
I'm slightly nervous NGL- I'm just scared of it becoming a binge/restrict cycle- anyone just gone off the rails and binge eaten after doing a few days? I just don't want to get into that.

Reading the book- my goodness it's so convincing. Really interesting how your body and brain can be starved for energy because of your insulin levels preventing fat being used as energy. My mind is BLOWN.

MintyCedric · 31/01/2021 20:35

So, i have 16yo DD who has put on some lockdown pounds over the last year and is keen to get them off, so that helps, although her approach is more exercise driven.

She makes her own breakfast - usually scannable egg or avocado on seeded wholegrain toast or banana oat protein pancakes, and lunch which will be a toasted wrap of some variety.

Re dinner...this week:

Tuna puttanesca and roasted veg - she's made herself a tomato and parmesan risotto

Jerk chicken salad - the actually recipe is jerk chicken burgers and sweet potato wedges, so she'll whatever version of that she wants. I'll probably have a few wedges but no burger bun

IKEA style meatballs, veg (chunky oven baked chips for DD)

Chicken Ramen Bowl - includes a small portion of wholewheat noodles which I may or may not have depending on my mood - I can generally take or leave noodles/pasta

Korean BBQ Beef Buddha bowl - includes a small portion of whole grain rice, which I'll probably have as I love rice.

I must admit having had my tuna I'm still craving something else tonight. Can see a very early bedtime coming on.

texican · 01/02/2021 07:14

Lots of activity here, so nice to see! Welcome @Squaretoe and welcome back @Chunkymonkey123. Well done for persevering through the initial hunger barrier. It’s designed to make us give up, I’m sure, so pushing through gave me a lot of satisfaction!

@greyinganddecaying - depends how strict you’re being. Potatoes are off my menu but I’m still eating carrots, just making sure I count the carbs. Mainly though because I only seem to like the slightly higher carb veg so if I cut that out I wouldn't be eating anything!

@shreddergodo my partner and I are both doing it, but my stepdaughter (18) isn’t so I am just cooking most of our usual meals but we’re having it with salad or veg and she’s having the carb. E.g. turkey meatballs(pasta), salmon/tuna(rice), stir fry(noodles) etc. It’s worked much better than I thought and has been fairly straightforward.

@funtimefrank hope you’re feeling better now. Get back on it this week and it’ll help you to feel more positive. @PhoenixMama glad you enjoyed the party, v interesting about how your tastes are changing! NSV!

I cracked for the first time in 4 weeks yesterday and had 2 bags of quavers. Not too bad in cals or carbs really and I enjoyed them so much. I did it really consciously and made them last ages, so really felt like a treat. I was really missing the specific ‘crunch’ sensation you get with crisps and couldn’t think of anything else that would replace it. I’m still so close to the next stone bracket but don’t think I’ll see it until maybe the end of the week after a slight weekend bloat. Good incentive to stay on track this week though. Gammon with roasted veg for dinner and poss tuna or cottage cheese salad for lunch. Happy Monday all!

Squaretoe · 01/02/2021 08:06

Weighed at 14.12 this morning. I’ve put on almost 1.5st since the end of October! Want to get back down to the 11s.

Have been fasting since 6pm last night, green tea for breakfast, tomato and pepper omelette for lunch, chilli and green veg for dinner. How much protein do people have a day? I’m at 56g for the day which I’m sure is no where near enough!

MintyCedric · 01/02/2021 09:10

Well I've lost 1.5lb...hardly dramatic but given the amount of cheating that went on last week not a huge surprise.

Going to mix it up a bit this week...cheat day today (so I have a week to make up for it!); much less wine; definitely no takeaway Blush.

Also going to eat breakfast earlier as I think having an underactive thyroid I need need give my metabolism a boot up the bum earlier in the day.

PhoenixMama · 01/02/2021 09:14

Morning all!

@Squaretoe There's an equation for protein I believe it's 0.36 grams of protein per pound (0.8 grams per kg) - but I think most people just work to % on Fast800.

For example I do Carbs: 25% (50g), Protein 40% (80g) and fat 35% (31g). I'll be honest I almost never hit 80g of protein but when I'm hungry and looking for something to eat it's good to see on mfp what i should be looking at.

My bloody scales are acting up again, they're less than 2 years old but they're saying I'm up 5lbs since last week which is crazy and definitely wrong. Not sure what to do, feels so wasteful to just get another one but I really do better when I'm weighing everyday.

MintyCedric · 01/02/2021 09:42

Have just decided on my breakfasts and lunches for the week.

Cheese and tomato omelette

Cajun tuna and bean salad

Going to have the chicken ramen tonight rather than the IKEA meatballs as it's DDs choice and I'm not feeling enthused so want to get it out of the way!

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 01/02/2021 11:03

@PhoenixMama thank you. I tend to batch boil eggs and then use them throughout the week.
