Just popping in to say hello.

I am the total opposite to the daily weighers and haven't weighed at all and don't intend to until feb. I get too distressed. I can feel changes though - less flab as I bend over, back fat going etc. I have also measured so will see how that goes.

So 2 weeks in and I have had a planned day off. We have a birthday (not mine) so I've had a pizza, a bit of garlic bread and a slab of birthday cake.

I was really looking forward to it but actually it was a bit meh, I got full quickly and missed my usual light meal and yoghurt. However, I had been feeling a bit light headed and run down and feel a bit better for having had a 'feed'

So it's cemented my plan to only stay on this plan for a few more weeks - I want to get below 11 7 and I suspect I'm under 12 now. Once I'm under that weight I will switch to 5:2 until I'm under 11.

Wish me luck for tomorrow when I get hunger pangs from the carbs!

Kimlek · 16/01/2021 08:46

Well done phoenix! 7lbs is fab. I’m still exactly the same at 10.2.0 not an ounce up or down. Think I should start a maintenance instead. I’m cool about it though as I’ve not exactly been trying and keep succumbing to chocolate. 10st was always my goal and I’ve been that now for around 8 months albeit I did dip to 9.10. I’m wondering if I really do need to lose those 6lbs or if I’m fine. If I should work hard or just cruise but be mindful to stay at this weight.

Kimlek · 16/01/2021 08:50

Hi FunTime I can’t abide pizza now! Always under-delivers. Bit of a shame given we built a pizza oven last year 🙄 so totally understand you feeling a bit meh about it. I’m impressed with your lack of weighing and good for you to be so mindful about your body and how it ‘feels’.

texican · 16/01/2021 09:29

Hi @funtimefrank. We woke up this morning with a pizza fantasy but like you I think when we eventually have it I might be a bit disappointed. It was always one of those regular meals we had that was for convenience rather than because I wanted it so maybe it'll get phased out. A pizza oven sounds ace though @Kimlek so maybe I'm not completely ready to part from pizza forever!!

@Kimlek sounds like you're ready for maintenance even if that changes later in the year when you feel ready to have another try. Perhaps you're a bit bored of being so restricted and it's making the temptations easier if you're happy with where you've got to.

I was another 1.2lbs down today and I'm now definitely at a weight I have seen for a number of years. 9.2lbs in 12 days and so surprised how easy it has been. I've not noticed it anywhere on my body yet apart from underneath my boobs and around my back there but I'm hoping the next few weeks my body will catch up. It's a great motivator.

PhoenixMama · 16/01/2021 09:30

@Kimlek I know what you mean about maintenance Vs trying to lose that last bit. I'm not so great at maintenance in the long term so I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I get there!

I fell off the wagon yesterday and had some chocolate treats with movie night. Definitely pmt & exhaustion driven and scale up 1lb today but I'm ignoring that. Its chucking it down here which I took one quick look at and then decided there's no way I'm running today. Will put that off till tomorrow! I'll definitely do yoga today though. Otherwise I'm having a very chilled day off (but will be good about food hopefully!)

PhoenixMama · 17/01/2021 12:47

Woke up with the scale saying I'm down 2lbs but let's see if that's real over the next day or so! My period's late now, which I remember happening last time round in the beginning - just annoying as I feel so bloated.

Made an amazing lamb saag curry last night from the Fast800 cookbook - it was so good even dd gobbled it up! Today I'm doing roast chicken but I'm just having greens and I'm doing sweet potatoes for dd.

How's everyone's weekends going?

Marsis · 17/01/2021 16:09

Hi everybody hope it’s ok if I join in. I started IF on the 1st and fast 800 on the 4th after stepping on the scales. I’ve been fine so far but this weekend struggled. I ate a magnum yesterday after resisting pizza I made for everybody else. First big ‘fail’ although I am having a fibre one bar every night so I’m not 100% following. I’ve lost 4.75kg since starting and aiming to get to 70kg. I was hoping to get to 85-80kg on fast 800 then switch to 5:2. I’m still feeling quite lethargic at times physically and struggling to start exercising hoping to next week.

funtimefrank · 17/01/2021 17:51

Hey Marsis

I hear you in the feeling too tired to exercise- I was feeling like that after the first couple of weeks. In week 3 now and a bit less fatigued - did a bit of running today during my walk.

Good luck :)

texican · 17/01/2021 21:18

A pretty good weekend this week despite last weekend being so incredibly hard. Wasn't hungry for lunch yesterday so decided to push through to an early dinner to have some extra lee-way to have a bigger meal. Made Chipotle Chicken Tinga from the BBC Good Food site and it was beautiful. Had it in lettuce wraps which I'm loving as an alternative to tortillas. I've not missed the alcohol this weekend either which is a small miracle and a big win.

@PhoenixMama I'm the same - period overdue and all the grim side effects still hanging round (bloating, period pain, lethargy etc). Hoping it won't scupper my weekly weigh in tomorrow.

Welcome @Marsis. I was definitely very fatigued in week 2, particularly days 6-11. I feel a lot better now though so hope it improves for you too.

PhoenixMama · 18/01/2021 08:45

Morning all! Scale still down this morning so guessing it's not a fluke lol!

Those chipotle chicken wraps sound delish @texican - think I'll look them up. I love the Chinese duck wraps in lettuce leaves!

Welcome @Marsis yeah definitely found the fatigue the first few weeks. Actually in my first round of Fast800 I couldn't do any cardio really for the first month because otherwise I was ragingly hungry, so I waited till I lost a bit and then added running in. This time I think the running is working because I'm not doing it on top of life and 10k steps a day (it basically IS my 10k steps rather than on top of) so it's easier. I also think the yoga is making the running way easier because my muscles are less tight. I don't know, sometimes I think things just work cuz they do!

Marsis · 18/01/2021 09:45

Thanks everybody it’s given me a boost reading through the thread and seeing how well people have done and some tips for meals. Also a fan of Heck sausages although nobody else in the house is Grin

texican · 19/01/2021 06:49

Yesterday was a bit of a fail but in an opposite sort of way to normal fails. No time to eat lunch so had a tiny bit of leftover curry and a cheesestring (!) and then I made a new dinner we hadn't had before and I really didn't enjoy it! So i barely ate any of it. Ended up with a yoghurt and a bit a strop! Need to plan better today as I'm back to back zoom meetings again all day so I will make something before I start ready to grab at lunchtime I think.

I've also not drank enough the last two days too.

However, on a more positive note - 9.8lbs down in 14 days which is wonderful. I'll try not to get irked about missing the nice round 10 by 0.2lbs!!!! Have a great day all x

PhoenixMama · 19/01/2021 13:04

I've definitely not drank enough either @texican! I was a bit grumpy this morning because the scale had gone up and i'd been so good all day. Weighted myself again after my run and it had gone down a full lb so I'm taking it, although I do sometimes have to wonder why it's not going fast when I am eating SO much less. Heigh ho. Am down 8.6 lbs in 3 weeks. Hoping I can make it 10lbs this month (had hoped for a full stone but don't think that's going to happen by month end).

I really really want to get back to 177 asap as that's the lowest I've been in the last 2 years and I bought a bunch of new clothes which are currently just that little bit too tight (I'm currently 184) then I want to get to 168 but starting to think that's going to take a LOT of work!

Did W4R2 this morning and I'm actually enjoying running and did Day 18/30 of yoga so I'm also a lot more active - just wish it showed more!

Off to fill up my water glass!

texican · 20/01/2021 07:05

Morning all! Well done on the run @PhoenixMama! I did the C25K a couple of years ago from definitely being couch rather than ever being a runner. It was a great way to get into it. Have to admit to doing weeks 3 and 4 about 4 times each though so took me a lot longer to get to 5k!

Drank a lot more yesterday. It definitely helps when I fill a jug. Probably still not enough as have a bit of a lingering headache at the moment. Period did arrive too yesterday so feeling a bit all round bleurgh.

8.6lbs in 3 weeks is really good going. Have to keep reminding myself not to be too impatient as with any other diet it would be a 1lb a week and I'd have given up by now.

New clothes are a good incentive to lose. I partly have the opposite having been given loads of lovely 'loungewear' for Christmas that I loved and is now already a bit big for me. Might have to promise myself I'll replace it if I lose properly.

texican · 20/01/2021 08:22

....I just spent 50quid on new loungewear 🙈

PhoenixMama · 20/01/2021 08:49

Way to Go @Texican!

How's everyone doing with their weigh ins this week?

I'm down another half pound so nice to see the scale moving even in little bits. I was very excited to see some definition on my abs this morning - I have a 2 pack Grin but not seen anything there in a looooong time!

Woke up with a bad headache and so I'm going to try upping my salt and water again see if that helps...

Have a great day everyone!

PhoenixMama · 20/01/2021 19:42

Well today went off the rails. Awful day with DD and juggling home school/work - ended up ordering 5 guys for dinner (at least no bun) and a small bag of M&Ms so that sucks. Back on it tomorrow with a run and yoga but annoyed with myself tonight.

texican · 21/01/2021 08:34

Hey @PhoenixMama - don't worry, today is a new day. Sometimes life gets in the way and that's just the way it is! It won't sabotage anything and to be honest if I compare my 'disaster' days now to my normal days before they're not so different!

It's my birthday today and I'm staying on plan today I think. I'm probably going to have a drink on Saturday which will be my first for three weeks 🎉 but going to stay on track with the food. If I'm honest I'm a bit worried about having a drink in case it starts a disastrous spiral into falling off the wagon. I'm nervous as it's felt so easy, like my body has just decided and I don't want to jinx it!

Anyway, on with the day. Leftover beef and veg stir fry for lunch and turkey meatballs and salad for tea :) AND DRINKING LOTS OF WATER! I've been so bad at that this week and have the headache to show for it.

PhoenixMama · 21/01/2021 13:44

Happy Birthday @texican! I hope you have a great day despite the circumstances!

I'm having another tough day, god I hate lockdown. Have been a lot better on the food and trying on the water. Did also get my run in this morning - starting to feel like I NEED them, rather than it's something I HAVE to do which is nice actually. Now to stay good today!

texican · 22/01/2021 07:34

Thanks @PhoenixMama. How was yesterday? Did the run help you to feel a bit better? I've not been out enough for walks this week as work has been frantic but getting out for a long dog walk with a good friend today and it's so welcome.

Yesterday went to plan. My lunch was absolutely lovely as had the leftover veg from the stir fry and added extra bean sprouts and a scrambled egg to the beansprouts so it tasted a bit like a takeaway. Lovely treat and still v low cal & carb. Didn't have any alcohol yesterday and was proud I didn't. Might have some tonight and tomorrow, or maybe just tomorrow. Haven't decided.

I was originally going to review my progress at this point to see if we wanted to/could carry on for a bit or switch to 5:2. I would like to try another 2 weeks and then review again I think. It's been very possible, almost easy some days, so I want to capitalise on that as much as I can. Plus still at least 7-9lbs to go so if I can ditch some of it through this approach more quickly then it will be easier to maintain through 5:2. I'm feeling very motivated at the moment.

I put a top on yesterday that I haven't been able to fit into for about 2 years so that was a nice birthday treat! Don't feel much slimmer yet but I've obviously lost some from somewhere!

Have a great day ☀️

texican · 22/01/2021 07:34

Sorry, wrote a mini essay!

PhoenixMama · 22/01/2021 08:31

Morning! Glad you had a great day @texican and hooray for smaller fitting clothes! That's a great win!

Well it's weigh in Friday here and I'm relatively pleased! Not necessarily with the scale lol I've lost 1.8lbs this week (hoping maybe I can push that to 2lbs if I'm good today.) BUT the measurements are great! I didn't measure last week because of my period but since the start of week 2 I've lost another 4.25 inches making it 10inches in total with 2.25" off my waist alone and I'm within half an inch on 2 of my goals.

I'm now within 15.6lbs of my ultimate goal and the smallest I'll have been in 15 years. But my next goal I'm focussing on is just getting back to the lowest I was last year which is 177 (and 6lbs away).

If I keep losing at 2lbs a week I've got another 8 weeks ahead of me but I know it will slow down, so a bit torn. I had planned to go to the end of March so I'll keep that in mind and re-evaluate then. I know if I stop too soon I'll just get annoyed with little gains and will fall off altogether and be back to square one. That said when we are free to live actual lives I want to go on loads of dates and eat all the food and drink all the booze so maybe doing something like 2:5 will be wise!

It's very much TGIF here - hope you're all hanging in there!

Also - for those of you who are lurking or struggling and not posting really no judgement here - I've fallen off so many times and I know it really does help to post even if you feel like you're messing it up!

Have a great day!

funtimefrank · 23/01/2021 15:18

Sigh - bad day. I'm really struggling and can't feel settled. Usually I don't think about food at all in the day but have been starving and tired all day and the idea of no carbs and yet another heavily restricted day of fish and veg (pescatarian and have eaten so many eggs) is making me feel hugely down and I want to gorge on pizza and cake.

My lovely dh has just come back from the shop with one of those dr oeatker spinach based pizzas which I quite like. Less than 700 cals and a lot of veg so a good compromise to get me over today. Carbs less than 100g and cals for the day 1200 so hopefully not too much of a stall.

Need to get back on track tomorrow in preparation for next sundays grand weigh in!

PhoenixMama · 23/01/2021 18:35

@funtimefrank Sometimes it's all about just making a better choice than we would have done. Pat yourself on the back for that!

I'm thrilled to say I've had a mini-WHOOSH! And I'm down 2lbs! So glad I stayed (mostly) on track the last few days! 10lbs so far this month and less than 5 to my first goal! Definitely giving me the energy to stay on track!

I ran this morning and did yoga but I'm just back from a 4 hour walk! Although we stopped at a banging food truck and I'm pretty sure I ate most my 800 calls in one place I'm not remotely hungry. Going to chill for the rest of the evening now!

texican · 24/01/2021 08:29

Ah yay @PhoenixMama that's really motivating! Well done you as it's been a hard week this week but you got through it. Well deserved!

@funtimefrank completely agree that you shouldn't beat yourself up. I personally think if we are craving something that badly (mentally or physically) then we should listen to our body and make a good choice with it. You made a really good choice (alternative was head first into a large Domino's!!) and hopefully gave yourself enough lee-way to feel satisfied and therefore continue for another good week.

I have found this way of eating surprisingly fine given I was a white carb addict but I've definitely made a couple of compromises to stay on track (sweet potato is my weekend 'treat', oh how I have changed!!!). Had wine last night for my belated birthday meal and feeling it this morning so good incentive not to drink again for a bit! Having steak and salad today so looking forward to that!

Happy Sunday all. Lighter than we were a week ago!
