Question about parents applying for accreditation.

I have passed all relevant checks except the DBS with barred checks (my current club one doesn’t but my work one does) and have received the email today to say all checks complete and awaiting certificate to be printed. That’s a SE barred checks one to be DS chaperone so I can hold him on the blocks!

So when I go on to apply for chaperone pass - how do I do it?! (Currently can’t but I think that’s because I have passed chaperone but not yet dbs?)

As timing is tight I’m trying to prepare ahead!

once my club had my dbs through I could just do it on the website. I had a massive issue with the website which crashed several times but aquatics GB helpful. I needed all the right accreditation with the club though. I found moving to team manager made it easier (but still a pain).

I’d call up the SE team and ask them what else is needed. I think there is something else that is needed for chaperone on top of the DBS and safeguarding for TM but can’t remember what I was told. As soon as you get the Green on DBS and safeguarding, try applying for chaperone again.

im not that familiar with chaperone but for TM o couldn't do anything with accreditation until the correct DBS was on the website. i had a club dbs for poolside helper but needed enhanced for TM. does your club have to allocate you role of Chaperone? when i spoke to regional safeguarding team about TM they said my status was just poolside helper with club and they needed to change it to TM.

i was in massive rush just to sort TM before regionals , literally the few days before, so i feel your pain!

hopefully when you get the right DBS you'll be ok, but id also check with club that they have recorded you as "role - chaperone '.

They said all I need is dbs to have barred checks as have passed chaperone bit (I explained it’s my own swimmer and he’s an adult!)

I do have a contact in SE and AGB so as soon as it’s through I can get club to upload it (I’ve already informed welfare officers coming)

It tight timing but I’m glad it’s sorted as it’s a weight off ds (and my!) mind.

Are you certain that non SE checks are allowed? I thought they were phasing them out or maybe they was for the safeguarding area where we have to now do SE specific stuff. SE will be able to answer any questions and if timing is tight, they can help. I remember some of mine running a bit too close - I spoke to SE and also the meet organisers who sent me the accreditation directly as I had the proof of course attendance/passing etc

I don’t think there is anything else to check? (Other than SE barred list dbs which is being done)?

AGB has passed my chaperone on by membership option.

I will be so annoyed if after all this they spring something else on me as I’ve been in contact with them since the assist code was given to make sure I could do it.

And yes his starts have improved which will hopefully translate into improved times 👀😂

I’ve just looked at mine for comparison and the only red I have is for chaperone as expected. I bet once your dbs is uploaded, it will okay.

you should see a blue link saying Purchase Now to the bottom right. I can’t see it on yours, mines next to the price of £26

Ah ha. Thats the bit I am missing. It said apply and couldn’t see how but I expect it’s because dbs isn’t right one yet and so it’s not active.

I’ll check back when it’s here and I’ve sent it in - thankyou!

and now I’ve got the fun and games of starting the DBS process again soon. Aargh!

Sink had an email to say fab on last stage. Welfare then confirmed they’d also received confirmation and this morning I could print my accreditation for chaperone!!!

1 less thing to do I. The next 2 weeks 😂🤗

Sigh, the annual argument surrounding ear piercings is ongoing rn in our household. My dd is adamant she wants it done than wobbles when I mention 6 weeks off swimming. Has anyone had to deal with this?

I don’t know when dd will ever get it done now that she’s 12 and swimming has taken over our lives!
