Hi
I thought I would start a new thread as the other one must be nearly full and I might have lots of questions as it is our first time!
My DD is in the U10s for 2018 and hopefully also in South Easterlies. I told my parents about her getting a place and they would like to come to her concert if possible (I understand that this is 11am on 19 August at Port Regis school) or have volunteered to look after my younger children instead if needed. Given my parents get booked up months in advance (they have a very active social life!) and Port Regis isn’t particularly near where we live so we might end up booking accommodation, then I wondered if anyone could let me know how this works:

  • do we get a limited number of tickets? I assume there must be some kind of limit.
  • would the concert be suitable for children (my younger DC will be 7 and 5 by then)?
Thanks very much.

I am worrying about the black skirts they need for the regional concerts. Is a standard black skirt ok or does it need to be a full length one like for the course? I am hoping the former as otherwise it could be tricky to get something sorted!

And yes, I agree that Sevenoaks isn’t ideal! When we opted for Southeasterlies I thought the venues were going to be a lot closer than some of them have been!

The red skirts have always been long , but normally for orchestras it’s just skirts of an acceptable length so that cover the knee when seated ( unless maybe they play cello) lots now seem to wear trousers ( is that an option ? )

stringchild · 14/10/2018 09:28

I think they said long or trousers. Trousers def easiest to get cheaply! .

stringchild · 14/10/2018 09:44

Just looked at the concert wear notice and it doesn’t seem to say a skirt length - must have imagined it 😀

stringchild · 14/10/2018 09:45

But the earlier email says long....Hmm

TrumpetVoluntary · 14/10/2018 09:51

I can’t see anything on the email specifying length but I thought I saw a post saying about long black skirts somewhere. We find it difficult trying to find trousers which fit her (she usually wears leggings rather than trousers) so we’re thinking of the skirt option. Yes was going to get one which would cover the knee but not right down to the ground.

Trumpetvoluntary yes we ended up doing SEasterlies due to a date clash but next year I think London juniors is our only option because Ds will have the 11+ and the driving has been a bit epic to Horsham. Will need to check boys concert dress fit Sevenoaks, we are all worn out here and half term isn’t till Friday!!

We really enjoyed the South Easterlies concert last night, well done to all the dcs involved 🎻🎺🎼

Radio, have you found the NCO 2019 thread? It was a good concert yesterday - although a day of driving for us as DD1 was playing a hockey match an hour from home in the other direction. Luckily DD2 got a lift to Sevenoaks in the morning.
