NCO 2018 (continued)

Hi
I thought I would start a new thread as the other one must be nearly full and I might have lots of questions as it is our first time!
My DD is in the U10s for 2018 and hopefully also in South Easterlies. I told my parents about her getting a place and they would like to come to her concert if possible (I understand that this is 11am on 19 August at Port Regis school) or have volunteered to look after my younger children instead if needed. Given my parents get booked up months in advance (they have a very active social life!) and Port Regis isn’t particularly near where we live so we might end up booking accommodation, then I wondered if anyone could let me know how this works:

  • do we get a limited number of tickets? I assume there must be some kind of limit.
  • would the concert be suitable for children (my younger DC will be 7 and 5 by then)?
Thanks very much.

Not why who !!

Siriusmuggle · 15/01/2018 09:37

I did the web form. I actually got my reply via Facebook as I asked through there too.

Trumpetboysmum · 15/01/2018 10:19

Thank you I'll do that later if I don't hear back

stringchild · 15/01/2018 13:14

We have heard of a couple getting places off the reserve list last week. Fingers crossed for those hoping to hear.

Trumpetboysmum · 15/01/2018 14:48

Yes fingers crossed for reserve places Smile they had received my forms so that's a relief

TrumpetVoluntary · 15/01/2018 19:10

Yes fingers crossed for Waffle’s DD and others waiting to hear about reserve places.

name changed as this is so outing... you can figure out who I am if you are interested Smile

Got a call from the NCO this morning that DS2 has a place in the U10s (violin) after all. There was a clerical error, which they only picked up when they were about to chase me for the acceptance forms.

Fingers crossed for all those on the reserve list! Sounds like they are busy sorting everything out.

They also told me that DS2 has a place in the southeasterlies (I asked), so I guess news on regionals will be out soon.

Kutik73 · 16/01/2018 14:14

Yay, Ta..., ruperts! We may see in real very soon as I put Southeastlies as the second choice! We should start using a rose on the chest or something!

Kutik73 · 16/01/2018 14:15

It would be nice if our minies get to know each other and be friends! Smile

rupertswife · 16/01/2018 17:32

Yes - definitely Kutik. Making musician friends is one of the main reasons I was so keen for DS2 to do NCO. Selfishly - I hope you get southeasterlies so we can meet (although better for you to get the most convenient orchestra, obviously)

Kutik73 · 16/01/2018 18:47

It's 15 mins vs 1 hour, so yes the first choice makes our life a lot easier. But DS is hoping to get southeasterlies as he really enjoyed it last year. I put our convenience before his wish... But it seems like lots people on the thread go to southeasterlies so it may worth an hour journey!!!

TrumpetVoluntary · 16/01/2018 19:09

That’s great news Rupert! Hopefully see you and others from the thread at southeasterlies.

I had to phone nco yesterday to change our regional preferences as ds had a date clash and they said they are doing the allocations at the moment. We are nearer to London Junior but he is now doing south easterlies so hope he will enjoy it. Am hoping he will meet other training orchestra kids there as it will help him in the summer if he knows some kids on the course.

TaggieOHara · 17/01/2018 19:21

Great - there will be quite a few of us at Southeasterlies Smile

TRL · 19/01/2018 13:05

Beyond ecstatic to let you know that DD1 has come off the reserve list for U12's - she will be so very thrilled, I know, and will be back with her mates (almost as important to her as the orchestral experience!!). Phew!!

TaggieOHara · 19/01/2018 13:44

Yay for mini-trl Smile What instrument?

TRL · 19/01/2018 14:09

Harp, Taggie Smile

stringchild · 19/01/2018 17:26

Fan news TRL - see you there. Was dd in u11s or U12s last time?

TrumpetVoluntary · 19/01/2018 18:04

Great news TRL!

Thanks.
She was U11's string. One really happy girl here tonight. 😊

Minimusiciansmama · 20/01/2018 06:52

Congrats to miss Trl!!

stringchild · 20/01/2018 08:50

TRL - are you doing regionals?

DD a bit nervous that many of her friends are in u13s, and she won't know anyone in u12s - think she is finding it strange after 3-4years with many of the same people, to now be 'starting over again', esp as the majority of her previous section have been in age-banded together for 3 years, and also done regionals together for the last few years

TRL · 20/01/2018 14:33

string DD1's doing London Seniors (I asked when they rang yesterday). Which one is yr DD hoping for? London Seniors will be a good way to meet U12's as it's only U12's upwards. DD knows a few U12's already as they were U11's last year + she also does another orchestra with some of her section who were U12's last year but are repeating.

She's super-friendly and will be v happy to make contact with your DD before regionals or the Easter residential if your DD would like that?

WindMum · 21/01/2018 19:53

Any idea when we'll find out which regional orchestra has been allocated? It's getting a bit close!

Paulweller11 · 21/01/2018 21:32

Ive just found regional orchestra info in my junk mailbox if that helps- email was sent yesterday
