Hi
I thought I would start a new thread as the other one must be nearly full and I might have lots of questions as it is our first time!
My DD is in the U10s for 2018 and hopefully also in South Easterlies. I told my parents about her getting a place and they would like to come to her concert if possible (I understand that this is 11am on 19 August at Port Regis school) or have volunteered to look after my younger children instead if needed. Given my parents get booked up months in advance (they have a very active social life!) and Port Regis isn’t particularly near where we live so we might end up booking accommodation, then I wondered if anyone could let me know how this works:

  • do we get a limited number of tickets? I assume there must be some kind of limit.
  • would the concert be suitable for children (my younger DC will be 7 and 5 by then)?
Thanks very much.

Radio - were you in blue and white, sitting in front of Three? If so, I will attempt to say hi next time. If not, sorry but I don’t know who you are but can post what I am wearing next time to help identification, or Three can introduce us?
Taggie, sorry not sure who you are. If it helps to identify me, I was sitting in the centre of the stage (next to dominostein - we are both mums of girls playing trumpets) wearing a grey top and black jeans with shoulder length brown hair.
Anyway, fingers crossed we get some firm dates very soon!

I was sitting at the front, but nipped out to do some shopping. I'm glad I was relatively inconspicuous. I felt I was getting in everyone's way with my multiple bags and generally fidgeti-ness (if that is a word!). I wasn't looking around me much, I'm afraid so I can't remember who was where.

Before the next rehearsal, I will PM around my name and photo! Or you can see it on my profile on folk's channel (if you are there).

Radiodependent · 23/04/2018 12:49

No I think I was slightly behind three in a denim skirt and flowery top. Let’s do some kind of recognition thing next time! Hopefully they will confirm the dates soon....

TrumpetVoluntary · 23/04/2018 19:47

Ok it’s a plan - would be good to know who people are!
Taggie - no, I don’t use the channel.

ThreeAndUs · 23/04/2018 20:27

Yes a recognition thing would be good!

Taggie - what's the channel about?

TaggieOHara · 23/04/2018 21:22

Folk started up a channel on an app called Cluster. We post clips of the DCs playing. It is for regular posters on the music threads and is private - i.e. only people in the group can see the clips, although some people choose to post links to YouTube videos.

If you are comfortable with the idea it would be great to have you. Brass is seriously under represented!

If you Pm folk, she will send you an invitation.

Doubleup · 24/04/2018 21:58

Ooh Wellington College would be so much closer for us! There was one rehearsal there at the start of last year before they switched to Ashtead.

ThreeAndUs · 28/04/2018 09:55

Still no May date!

DS is hoping for his hoodie any day now, it's been 4 weeks!

TaggieOHara · 28/04/2018 14:34

I think it is 13th May. Someone at the rehearsal asked Julia. But that might be provisional or have changed, especially if the venue has changed. So don’t quote me!

TrumpetVoluntary · 29/04/2018 20:19

13 May is definitely what Julia said at the rehearsal but it was only provisional and she was hoping to confirm by email last week and I haven’t seen an email. Really hope they can get this all sorted soon.
And hope the hoodie arrives soon, Three!

Yes hope they get Southeasterlies sorted soon, it’s hard to plan ahead.

TrumpetVoluntary · 02/05/2018 12:19

Emailed Julia about Southeasterlies and current thinking is 13 May 10-1 at Wellington College (hopefully email to confirm within next day or so) and maybe 17 June after that although they are struggling to find a venue for June so June rehearsal might be postponed.

GI2015 · 02/05/2018 12:29

Thank you Trumpet for sharing. Hopefully e-mail will be soon.

ThreeAndUs · 08/05/2018 20:45

Yey! One happy boy to find his NCO jumper had arrived when we came home from school! Nicely timed for Sunday's rehearsal! Smile

TrumpetVoluntary · 08/05/2018 20:58

Great news Three - hope the journey on Sunday isn’t too bad.

TaggieOHara · 08/05/2018 21:34

DS2’s hoodie arrived too! He was so thrilled. Had quite a battle to dissuade him from sleeping in it (it is about 20 degC here!).

ThreeAndUs · 11/05/2018 14:02

Yes not looking forward to the journey Trumpet, 2 hours!

Taggie my DS has new wearing it non stop since it arrived too!

Radiodependent · 12/05/2018 12:43

see you tomorrow Southeasterly people, am contemplating doing some baking....

Doubleup · 12/05/2018 18:45

I'm also contemplating baking - but need to get a move on before Eurovision starts! We like a bit of kitsch and cheese here and it will be a bit of light relief in amongst exam revision.

TrumpetVoluntary · 12/05/2018 23:21

Afraid I haven’t had a chance to do any baking but am looking forward to tomorrow. I am fairly short and have shoulder length brown hair (which might be in a ponytail) and glasses, and will probably be wearing jeans and carrying a black handbag. DD is an U10 trumpet player. Do say hi if you see me!

OP posts:
ThreeAndUs · 13/05/2018 06:10

See you all soon! Eta is 1 hour and 30 so hoping it won't take the 2 hours it said yesterday when I checked! My son is also U10 trumpet player! Smile

TaggieOHara · 13/05/2018 06:18

See you soon! I will be with my father, who knows nothing about mn!! DS2 plays the violin in the U10s Smile

Radiodependent · 13/05/2018 07:00

Our travel time has decreased quite a lot with it being Sunday morning on google maps so that’s good. I am bringing a small bass player and have a blue bag with dots on.

Doubleup · 13/05/2018 10:12

I’m at SEasterlies with the littlest bassoonist. Currently I’m chairless until I can track one down....

TrumpetVoluntary · 13/05/2018 12:01

Not sure which one you are Doubleup. I have found Three and Radio. Currently sitting in middle of second row on balcony.
