Hi
I thought I would start a new thread as the other one must be nearly full and I might have lots of questions as it is our first time!
My DD is in the U10s for 2018 and hopefully also in South Easterlies. I told my parents about her getting a place and they would like to come to her concert if possible (I understand that this is 11am on 19 August at Port Regis school) or have volunteered to look after my younger children instead if needed. Given my parents get booked up months in advance (they have a very active social life!) and Port Regis isn’t particularly near where we live so we might end up booking accommodation, then I wondered if anyone could let me know how this works:

  • do we get a limited number of tickets? I assume there must be some kind of limit.
  • would the concert be suitable for children (my younger DC will be 7 and 5 by then)?
Thanks very much.

Are you three to my right trunpetv?

TrumpetVoluntary · 13/05/2018 12:22

Yes, I just smiled at you. Didn’t want to disturb the rehearsal by talking right now but can say hello at the end.

Sorry we missed you double up, hope to chat next time. Fingers crossed they find a venue for June :)

ThreeAndUs · 13/05/2018 15:16

Just arrived home. Great rehearsal for the children today and enjoyed chatting with more people. See you all in June hopefully everyone! Smile

TaggieOHara · 13/05/2018 15:34

Yes - it went really well! The Borodin at the end was gorgeous.

Very nice to meet three (I think!) I was looking out for others but we had to make a quick get away to get DS2 to choir

TrumpetVoluntary · 13/05/2018 16:00

Yes the Borodin was really good. And I thought the Sound of music was much improved too.
Fingers crossed they find a venue for 17 June!

Is 17 June the potential date for the next S Easterlies then? That wasn't on my radar. Things were so much better organised last year when they had all the dates set out early and we could plan ahead.

TaggieOHara · 18/05/2018 07:32

Yes - that’s right Double, but they haven’t yet got a venue, so the date may change or the rehearsal may be cancelled.

Doubleup · 24/05/2018 19:36

Hmm - Horsham.....

TrumpetVoluntary · 24/05/2018 21:23

Horsham is further away for us too. But closer for some other people at least. I hope you can still make it!

OP posts:
ThreeAndUs · 24/05/2018 22:08

Horsham is win win for us! Doesn't say a time though!?

TaggieOHara · 24/05/2018 22:20

Might be too far for us Sad

Doubleup · 25/05/2018 07:12

I think if we’d known at the start of the year that they were going to move there, we might have opted for London. Likely to be over 1.5 hours without any traffic. Not the easiest place to get to.

ThreeAndUs · 25/05/2018 07:35

Took us nearly 2 hours to get to Wellington. This should be about an hour. Non school uniform today, guess what DS is wearing!? Grin

Ditto three!

Horsham will be well over two hours for us. It took about 1.5 hours for Ashstead, which was just about ok. It will be a shame to pull DS out but it might be the only sensible option. It will partly depend on timings though.

TrumpetVoluntary · 25/05/2018 09:03

Yes DD has taken her hoodie on her school residential this week. Expecting her to come back today happy but zombie like through lack of sleep...
I hope people can still come to Southeasterlies - it is difficult that it was expected to be in one location and has now moved part way through.

Am glad they have found a permanent, (if more distant!)home- Horsham is about 90 minutes for us, and we might also have opted for London if we had known at the beginning of the year but I think we should be able to make it work. Have got Dh scheduled to do the driving on 17th June as work is busier around then but hope to see you guys again in the Autumn...

Doubleup · 26/05/2018 15:22

Taggie it’s scheduled from 10am to 1 pm if that is any help.

TaggieOHara · 26/05/2018 17:43

Thanks double. Might be doable if I can get DS2 out of Saturday school music commitments the day before. He needs some downtime at the weekend and he needs to be back to rehearse and sing evensong on Sunday night! I’ll keep you all posted.

Radiodependent · 23/09/2018 08:53

Ds and Dh have set off in the rain for Horsham, armed with cake. Anyone else’s dcs back at South Easterlies today?

Doubleup · 23/09/2018 11:00

DD2 is there, but thankfully she had a lift there so I didn’t have to do the nearly 2 hour trip. Did send some gluten free fairy cakes with her though, so I’ve done my mum duty. Failed on sending her with a music stand though - oops!

Radiodependent · 23/09/2018 12:47

Gosh, two hours, that’s dedicated. We have just over an hour and that feels far.

Doubleup · 23/09/2018 14:07

It was already over an hour before they relocated to Horsham. As for Sevenoaks......

Radiodependent · 23/09/2018 18:13

Trying not to think about travel to Sevenoaks... (although the hall is very nice there)
