90 mins dance class - Charleston 😅
7/300.

FurForksSake · 10/01/2026 21:28

Twenty minutes of physio exercises. That’ll do me. Might get ds12 out for a stroll tomorrow if it’s not too wet.

Great. I have been standing and batch cooking for our next, trip. Foot now sore. It's stupidly hot so will do heat first, then jump in pool

Placestogo · 11/01/2026 09:58

I’ve had the new year blues. Has hit me like a bus. I think my ds has finally left his violent girlfriend and he appears to be making some progress on access to the baby. So I should be feeling better as it’s less scary now - but I think it’s caught up with me. Plus the bloody weather.

so, I have only managed one 1.5 mile walk (good for me and no ill effects so pleased with that).

1 core and 1 lower body workout at home. I am desperate to get back to the pool and a routine. Physio tomorrow a full 8 months after I fell hard and injured my knee.

@Placestogo don’t underestimate rest when you’re ill. The gym will still be there. Did you manage to get there this afternoon?

Placestogo · 11/01/2026 19:04

@stilldumdedumming sorry to hear about the difficult situation your DS and your grandchild are in. I hope they have appropriate support.

i did go to the gym but i was easy on myself. I also enjoyed the jacuzzi and the sauna 😊

WearyAuldWumman · 11/01/2026 19:13

Chickened out again. Was scared to brave the icy paths and roads. Hoping to make it tomorrow.

FurForksSake · 11/01/2026 21:02

@WearyAuldWumman it’s good to be careful in this weather. It’ll be spring before we know it.

I’ve managed my physio exercises and some Pilates exercises and that’ll do me for today.

Still going. 28min Grow with Jo video yesterday plus some planks. Today 40 min walk with weighted vest.

In the past 12 months I’ve lost 8.2kg (18lb) - no dieting , better habits, more exercise.

Onwards!!

stilldumdedumming · 12/01/2026 13:43

Physio today and 44 x25m in the pool. The pool was chilly due to some maintenance issue and so I had a lane to myself! Beat the blues for a bit.

And a cheesy walk (for any new-comers, I cannot walk very well but have discovered I can do a decent pace on the spot so I’m trying to do a few of those cheesy American walking videos a week).

1 mile apparently - but it was fast and I was out of breath so that’s good

WearyAuldWumman · 12/01/2026 19:12

Shall be avoiding the gym during evenings for the rest of the month. Couldn't even access the free weights I wanted.

45 min Pilates class with focus on abdominals. Ouch!

[ETA We used balls today. Once we moved onto leg raises whilst holding the balls between knees and thighs, they were scooting all over the place.]

3 sets of 10 side raises with 2.5kg weights, interspersed with the same for biceps curls.

The gym no longer appears to have 3 or 4 kg weights* and the 5 kg weights were all being used. The lat pull equipment was taken up by groups of teenage girls.

*I know that this sounds ridiculous, but they appear to have got rid of their old weights and replaced with equipment from the same company to give a uniform look. The new 2.5kg weights are ridiculously bulky - maybe to make them more 'manly'?

FurForksSake · 12/01/2026 19:27

Sounds like you are at the mercy of the January members. They’ll be gone soon enough. Very annoying about the weights. But Pilates sounds fun!

Forty tough minutes of hydrotherapy, she worked me today!!

im considering getting out for two miles tomorrow as my rehab steps, but will depend on the weather.

Nowt wrong with those walking videos I have done many!

stilldumdedumming · 12/01/2026 21:50

We did a thing in Pilates once where we balance a weight on our shins whilst in a kind of dead but position. The sound of the weights dropping everywhere felt perilous!

Alittlefrustrated · 12/01/2026 22:17

55 minutes pilates class
8/300

Happleandhorange · 13/01/2026 00:36

Camping. In a very remote bit of the Coromandel (nearest shop an hour's drive). One of those times I am thankful for the workouts that make this kind of thing possible.

Happleandhorange · 13/01/2026 00:37

We're camping in that bay, by beach.

FurForksSake · 13/01/2026 07:19

@Happleandhorange that looks stunning!!

stilldumdedumming · 13/01/2026 15:23

I love camping. That looks amazing.

Today I did hard core core class and later hard Pilates.
I need to get my physio done as well as we are being very precise with timing it with other exercise.

20 minutes Stretch class. Damn near killed me - different instructor from usual: apparently, she usually takes advanced Pilates and Yoga.

At the end of it, my arms were shaking. Realised it's cos my arms were having to support all 14 stones plus of me at various points. Shaky legs too.

The plan was to do a full gym workout straight afterwards, but...

Couldn't get on the lat pull, so used the abductor and adductor machines. 3X15, 36 kg.

Had lunch and returned for the lat pull. 3X10 at 19kg for the lat pull. Moved up to 26kg for triceps pull and biceps.

Thighs are currently killing me - combination of stretches, balancing and the machines.

Happleandhorange · 13/01/2026 19:05

Thank you. It's glorious here. Yesterday I did 12 000 steps, had two, swims and yanked a kayak around. Yeah, that's a workout. Will count when I get home.

FurForksSake · 13/01/2026 19:51

Twenty minutes of physio exercises, it was too wet and miserable for a walk.

An aside: the friend who goes to a class with me once a week started back last week. However, she's still expressing concern over the possibility of my overdoing it at the gym as well as referring to someone else as 'obsessed' with the gym.

So far as I'm concerned, I have a year's membership and I'm as well getting my money's worth out of it. Also, I'm widowed and retired so the gym is a way of giving myself a reason to get out of the house. There's also the need to get fitter, of course. I don't think that's weird, is it?
