Crossfit today, and I had a relatively chilled one. It was rope climb for the skill, well I can climb the rope so demonstrated that I could do so a couple times then spent most of the skill/play time just relaxing near the rope and chatting.

The workout was rope climbs, box stepping, ski erg, one minute each, 8 times round (24 minutes). I did a couple rope climbs for the first rounds, then just did various other accessory exercises. I'm not feeling it at the moment, the rope digs into my shin doing the crossfit foot clamp and I don't really like it. Box steps I did completely correctly but nice and slow, same with the erg. I was sweating and did some work, but I had plenty left in the tank - definitely sandbagged that one a bit. I'm completely ok with that, I'm giving myself a burnt out cbf pass for the rest of the year. Anything more than turning up and good-moderate effort is a bonus but not required!

I had a couple of newbs start my Boxercise class last night and they enjoyed it and are keen to come again tomorrow. Well happy about that.

Alittlefrustrated · 04/11/2025 16:39

46 x 25m swim this morning.
193.
You must be good BezMills if they're coming back!

WearyAuldWumman · 04/11/2025 16:47

Did my 30 minute Stretch class and followed up with the gym. Couldn't get onto the lat pull, so just did the legs.

I'm skipping the calf press at the moment.

As suggested by the osteopath, have dropped the weight on the leg press - 30 kg only. 3 sets of 10, legs high up and akimbo for the inner thighs and together and mid-level for glutes, quads, etc.

3 sets of 10, lowest setting for leg extension. 3 sets of 10 split between 15 and 20kg for leg curl.

Freaking out a bit...I've realised that the lump that the osteopath wants checked out is at the back of my leg and is not (as I thought) a bit of muscle growth. Buggeration. Mind you, at my age you do get strange bumpy bits appearing.

So jealous of your swimming @Alittlefrustrated - I don’t think I can get to the pool til Friday lunch time - and that will be quite busy.

I did a core class today and 4 x half mile walk. Which has done me in!

Happleandhorange · 05/11/2025 04:21

Like the sound of swimming and walk. We have the beginning of nice weather here which is so great after all the rain!

I had a picnic with DS3 and went to gym after that. I was at different one, near synagogue. It's nice but I realise the selection of machines is a bit smaller there, so I have to improvise to make sure I've covered all major muscle groups. I managed 2000m on ski erg at level 2 without hurting my shoulder which was exciting, I think I shall increase gradually and see how I go. It's a good seated exercise (I sit on a ball) while I let knee recover from last week.

Oh, and @BezMills - Crossfit sounds so much fun and completely terrible at once.

Happleandhorange · 05/11/2025 06:51

(And good luck with lump @WearyAuldWumman )

roonetta · 05/11/2025 10:51

🥴 had to scroll down a long way to see what my last number was! Well done everyone, you are putting me to shame.

Shall try again for doc's appointment tomorrow.

Have two classes today - Senior Flex with cardio and weights and then Active for Health, where we work individually on what we need.

Oh, and @BezMills - Crossfit sounds so much fun and completely terrible at once.

haha that's fair comment actually!

Today was much better for me. We did some shoulder mobility then went big on the bench press. I did a new 10 rep max - and I think I had a couple reps in reserve too - so well chuffed. The workout was handstand wall walk for 1 minute, then 30s flat out row. I felt good on the handstands, did the best I've done at that too.

There was this one bit where I did the absolute opposite of what the bossman said on the bench, but that was just some kind of processing blerp, and when we realised it we laughed it off and boom PR time. Both might be attributed to the can of Dr Pepper I smashed in the car on the way to training. Definitely felt better on that, than Monday where I had a Banana and an Aldi medium sized mars bar. Generally I like to train cardio fasted (I find it really uncomfortable if I've eaten in the last 4 hours), but lifting big weights on completely empty doesn't work for me either.

So, yesterday was 'just turn up and do some work' and today was 'turned up and bloody smashed it out the park'. Rest day tomorrow then training again on Friday. Kapow, can't wait.

S&c today

Finished senior flex. Sets of one arm lifts today - overhead. Managed 3.75kg. Most I’ve managed with side raise would be 4kg in each arm, I think.

Doing better with lunges. But held onto a chair for balance, given my crunching knees.

Coffee now. Active for Health next.

stilldumdedumming · 05/11/2025 19:43

@BezMillsthe art of letting go! well done!
I am still car-less and so have limited options. Home workout of glutes and hamstrings in my lunch break. Walked to the community centre to give blood. I couldn’t walk a step in June so I’m at least grateful for the opportunity to build it up a little.

WearyAuldWumman · 05/11/2025 20:29

Well, did my Active for Life/Health workout.

4 min HIIT on the treadmill warm-up. 2 sets of 10, 30kg and one of 35k on the low row machine.

4k weights for side raises, wrist curls (both ways) and biceps curls.

9kg weights for side twists and side dips for abdominals. 3X10 of dead bug for abdominals

Don't know what it's called, but 3 sets of 10, balancing big yoga ball against the wall with my lower back and sliding down the wall.

Happleandhorange · 06/11/2025 02:29

I had neurophysio today. I am nearly dead. It was just assessment. But my neck is agony.
I decided in advance not to do anything else today as I knew I would be tired, I was very right. Having chicken burger and chips from airfryer and then going to nap.

stilldumdedumming · 06/11/2025 22:48

I did no exercise today! I sat at my desk and my body felt terrible for it! Which I am taking as a win! Because clearly it is much more used to moving. Had to stretch and move it throughout the Traitors final!

WearyAuldWumman · 06/11/2025 23:35

No exercise, but surgery confirmed that sample was clear of blood and Adv Nurse Practitioner reckons lump on leg is just a cyst.

StrongLikeMamma · 06/11/2025 23:49

PT today- was exhausting!

Comtesse · 07/11/2025 00:12

Still going - just isometric planks and wall squats today. Shocking how much harder forearm plank is than straight arm plank. Oh well, keep going!

stilldumdedumming · 07/11/2025 13:41

I agree @Comtesse but my physics knowledge is v poor so I don’t know why!
today was a lower body class at the gym and then a bus to the pool for a swim. Probably around 50 lengths.

I am being very bad at not doing my physio. My knee is healing but I still can’t walk very well. Which is disappointing to say the least.

23 maybe?

stilldumdedumming · 07/11/2025 13:42

Oh and that sounds like good news @WearyAuldWumman?

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 07/11/2025 18:45

Short run with ds in a horrible evening so lighting the fire now.

Happy weekend.

Happleandhorange · 07/11/2025 19:26

I can only do forearm plank, the full version hurts my shoulder. I did not realise it was harder on core and now feel well smug :-)

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 08/11/2025 11:38

Same Happle.

And I did some at s&c this morning.
