70 lengths of the pool this morning- the first 60 were very pacey! Had to do the last 10 as cool down- which I wouldn’t normally bother with.

Followed by an hour’s easy Pilates. (The one that has the exact same routine since July!)

now someone kick me to get my physio done!

stilldumdedumming · 30/10/2025 19:41

Physio done. Ouch!

Happleandhorange · 31/10/2025 00:59

Well done for physio!!! Kick not required, obviously.

Happleandhorange · 31/10/2025 05:47

Today was fairly shit actually. Went to get my program from PT. It was a total disaster. She had not listened to a word I had said, in TWO sessions, and had designed a program that managed to be laughably too easy and physically dangerous for me at once. Like, she had forgotten that I have two plates and screws in my shoulder and that the limited range of motion is a permanent disability. That is not the kind of thing you should really forget. She wanted to work the shoulder really hard to restore mobility!!! Then she tried to blame me for not having given her enough information.
I then realised, she'd given me a program with NO CARDIO OR STRETCHING AT ALL, and a warmup that was so limited as to almost be pointless.
It was all very disappointing. The most useful bit of the session was my 15 minute treadmill warmup on my own.
Obviously not going back. Need to decide whether to ask for my money back as well.

Happleandhorange · 31/10/2025 05:52

(The laughably easy bit was that she refused to believe I'd been doing weights, had me on 10 on same machine I did 50 on yesterday. When I told her she would only raise to 30 although my form was fine. Then when I asked about cardio she suggested I do a short walk on nontraining days, and ten minutes on treadmill if I really wanted to. FFS. I've been doing 60 minute high intensity classes and I had offered to show her my schedule but she wasn't interested).

BitOutOfPractice · 31/10/2025 07:21

Oh @Happleandhorange that is really really poor. I would be complaining about that.

Really really good PTs are worth their weight in gold. Bad ones are positively dangerous.

the first one I tried had me doing Bulgarian split squats despite me telling him about my very painful arthritic knees. Put me off PTs for years. My current one has worked so slowly with me and my Knees are now virtually pain free.

Complain!

Happleandhorange · 31/10/2025 07:36

That's awful @BitOutOfPractice but is it OK to say I am quite relieved to hear it? I hadn't heard of anyone having a bad PT experience before. I feel less embarrassed that it happened now.

Happleandhorange · 31/10/2025 07:49

Basically I want my money back. I paid for three sessions in advance.

BitOutOfPractice · 31/10/2025 08:33

you have nothing to be embarrassed about. She does though!

I think, if you get your money back, you should ask around for personal recommendations. And Id try to find a really experienced pt who is used to working with women and who understands properly how our bodies work. I genuinely love mine. She’s so knowledgeable and encouraging and has literally changed my life. I could hardly get down stairs before I met her. Now I am box jumping and lunging. I want that experience for everyone.

Happleandhorange · 31/10/2025 08:42

Wow, that's amazing. This is how this woman presents but clearly it was a bit of a facade.

BezMills · 31/10/2025 09:00

Hai everyone.

@Happleandhorange what a pain about the PT. To not get what you need, and to feel like you weren't listened to, definite case for "money back please".

@MotherForkinShirtBalls yes I can feel your pain about losing the will to squat! I had some feedback a few weeks ago about my squat form and I decided to drop the weight right down and start again. So I'm nowhere near PRs, but I feel nice and strong/solid lifting what I am lifting. I guess I'd rather lift less but feel like it's good. It will go up over time.

My deadlift on the other hand, is going great. After a hard 1RM session at the crossfit (kabooming my previous one 1RM), I felt amazing. Then a week later had one of those dumb crossfit workouts where matey said "50% of your 1RM" but it was for 10x10 reps. I got two sets done, then dropped the weight down again, then just completely faded and felt like crap for the rest of the workout and basically meh.

On Wednesday, having not done any lifting since then, I did a 5x5 at 70% and every rep felt mint. The boss even said "you moved with great integrity, I had no comments on your lifts" which I'm almost stupidly happy about.

Weightlifting is just a bloody emotional rollercoaster sometimes (possibly all times).

Today is Strict Press and hopefully buddying up with Lovely Anna Sensei. Then a typical crossfit beasting of 20s on 10s off for INFINITY minutes

(8 * 5 exercises but it will feel endless)

BitOutOfPractice · 31/10/2025 09:27

@BezMills i had one of those “mint” sessions on Monday. I was buzzing for the rest of the day. It’s the most brilliant feeling and I genuinely never ever thought I’d be the woman to say that!

Enjoy your session today. If “enjoy” is the right word. 😁

Comtesse · 31/10/2025 13:11

Today was 30min jeffing along the seafront on hols - lovely weather. Previous days were LWR exercise vids and yin yoga.

That means I have exercised every day in October. And every day for March, April, May, June, July, August and September. With the exception of one day in March when I was in Hong Kong for work and had a massive hangover!

8 months on the bounce. Bloody hell. I am NOT a sporty person so that feels like a big deal.

BezMills · 31/10/2025 15:00

That's absolutely fabulous @comtesse !

So far so good this year, and I'm just going to aim for consistent 3 crossfits a week and anything else a bonus.

I'm also giving myself permission to sandbag any and all workouts if I'm having a CBFer

It's been a long year and I'm feeling it tbh

Happleandhorange · 31/10/2025 18:01

@Comtesse what a fantastic personal training record, well done.

@BezMills it sounds like you're doing brilliantly and clearly focusing on the three workouts for a bit was a good move.

I have bad news, which is that on top of everything else PT re-injured my foot. She decided on the basis of nothing that I have a knee problem. (My right knee is turning slightly when I squat, this is almost certainly the result of the ankle issues not a different problem). So gave me this weird corrective exercise on leg extension where I had to scrunch up my toes. Totally unnecessary as my knees are fine and it has wrecked my foot again.

Happleandhorange · 31/10/2025 18:05

It's the beginning of my six weeks focus again. I had been going to take the PT workout seriously, but in the circumstances I'm going to ignore that and go for endurance (low and medium intensity cardio, but for longer).

Alittlefrustrated · 31/10/2025 20:55

Easy day today -
3.35 brisk walk
Also been practicing my dance for tommorrow 😬
189.

Happleandhorange · 01/11/2025 08:18

Dance practice sounds fun.

I've been in agony this afternoon. Both feet are on fire. But in a way this is good, because you are unlikely to seriously injure both feet in same way simultaneously. It now feels more like a fascia plantar flareup, cramping etc, than further damage to ligament. So annoying in extreme and very painful, but hopefully short-term.

I have written a stinking complaint letter.

Placestogo · 01/11/2025 10:34

Went to my bootcamp class in the park this morning - was great.

Placestogo · 01/11/2025 16:14

I am back for a veeeerrrrryyyyy looong walk with DH so I will count it as another exercise for today! It was lovely as well

stilldumdedumming · 01/11/2025 16:36

@Happleandhorange well done for complaining. A physio once wrecked my plantar fascia on both sides.

And well done to everyone keeping at it as winter comes in. I had a consultation this morning for some very expensive neuro physio this morning. I can’t afford it and there’s no saying if it would bring any improvement- so I’m going to concentrate on what I can do!

stilldumdedumming · 01/11/2025 17:55

Lower body class yesterday, upper body at home today.
And physio.

Alittlefrustrated · 01/11/2025 18:06

Dance performance went well 🙂
Followed by 1 hour dance class.
190.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 01/11/2025 18:16

Well done @Comtesse and @Alittlefrustrated , excellent achievements. I'm feeling the same @BezMills , motivation is waning and I don't know if it's my constant injuries, burn out, peri, boredom or a combination. So I took this week a bit easier for exercise, as work was hectic. I had a beautiful but very cold dip yesterday and again today (as part of a memorial for a swimmer friend who died over the summer) and the gym this morning.

WearyAuldWumman · 01/11/2025 18:20

No exercise today. Couldn't get a space on the Sat morning Pilates class, so agreed to a delivery today.

Supposed to be 'morning', but the email says any time up to 9 pm, so I'm stuck. TBH I don't see how it can get here today - was only ordered yesterday, over the phone.

Of course, have since had 7 emails from the council's website, informing me of class place cancellations - most sent less than an hour before class was due to start. Grrr.
