Hello. Had a busy weekend but I walked a lot on Saturday and a Quick run on Sunday.

But can I just shout this from the rooftops? I have just done three perfect sets of lunges. With my dodgy knees. Something just clicked in my brain this morning. I feel like queen of the world!

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 27/10/2025 12:06

Well done, Bit!

Yes, the water is definitely colder, frustrated. It's about 12c I think. It makes my soul happy though. Bank Holiday here and the tide is coming in so I'm going to head down in a bit. And then I'll have a run with ds this evening.

Went to the Musical Theatre Fitness charity event yesterday, but just waved my arms around and shuffled whilst everyone else leapt.

Supposed to be at Pilates today and Stretch tomorrow, but the classes are oversubscribed. There's a cancellation system, but I was too late to nab the Stretch place and nowt has come up for Pilates.

The teachers have said just to come along if that happens but....

Guess I could go see and then just try a gentle gym warm-up if I can't get in.

WearyAuldWumman · 27/10/2025 12:15

@BitOutOfPractice Lunges with dodgy knees? Well done!

Comtesse · 27/10/2025 12:58

On holiday - just completed 20 mins of Lucy WR videos and a blustery walk by the beach. Keep trucking!

Alittlefrustrated · 27/10/2025 20:37

That's dedication Comtesse!

I managed gentle weights without wrecking shoulder further tonight, which was a great relief. Did 25 minutes of an RPM class (which was rubbish, the teacher was quite shouty and her music kept breaking down) and then 5 min on ski erg for a half hour of cardio. It was probably 2 hours in all as I did stretches for ages and then had shower/sauna. Legs definitely getting stronger which is nice.

Happleandhorange · 28/10/2025 09:48

I wanted to say, @WearyAuldWumman , that if you could get a professional to show you how to strap your foot, that would give you tendonitis support. It made a big difference to my ability to exercise with torn/slowly healing ligament.

WearyAuldWumman · 28/10/2025 10:02

Thank you, @Happleandhorange .

Comtesse · 28/10/2025 12:26

24m of jeffing down along the seafront with some banging beats. I am not a natural runner but trying to take the cardio up a notch….

stilldumdedumming · 28/10/2025 15:27

Attended the 30 min Stretch class and my sore bits feel the better for it. Also used the leg extension and leg curl afterwards. I'm having to use the leg extension with the lowest weight - dodgy knees just aren't up to anything heavier.

Mightily relieved that I managed something.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 28/10/2025 19:44

S&c leg day. I have lost the will to squat. I can't mange any decent weight and I don't know why. I was able to do proportionally heavier on Bulgarian split squats without any trouble.

At gym. Updating midworkout as waiting for Bodybalance to start. I've been in women's area trying out my ankle brace (great so far), and working out which machines and weights shoulder can handle (most of them, in small doses. I just can't go too heavy or do too much at once).

roonetta · 29/10/2025 08:18

I love vicariously joining you on your sea swims Motherforkin. Autumn is now officially here 🥰

Happleandhorange · 29/10/2025 08:56

(Googling Bulgarian split squats)

WearyAuldWumman · 29/10/2025 13:05

i have Senior Flex - mix of cardio and hand weights today - plus Active for Life. (Much the same.)

stilldumdedumming · 29/10/2025 18:27

@Happleandhorange tell me about body balance- possible class for me just added to the timetable at the gym.

today was swimming I went in the fast lane because there was lane rage in the medium (not me but I had to get out the way quick!). Didn’t count lengths but it was full pace- so, excellent!

followed by hippy yoga where we welcomed our celestial coven. Yes we did…

stilldumdedumming · 29/10/2025 18:28

16!

Alittlefrustrated · 29/10/2025 20:12

40 x25m swim - wish I could go in the fast lane stilldumdedumming, but I'm a breast stroker/back crawler. We only have 1 lane as well, though sometimes they make it a medium lane.

Happleandhorange · 29/10/2025 21:32

BodyBalance is a third yoga, a third tai chi and a third Pilates. It's very flowing, very low impact. I didn't finish the class because I discovered (again) that if I turn myself upside down as in Downward Dog, I vomit. Shall do a bridge as adaptation if I go again.

stilldumdedumming · 29/10/2025 23:22

@Alittlefrustrated I do one legged breast stroke, front and back crawl. Back stroke is so good to keep the shoulders moving.

@Happleandhorange that sounds difficult (the vomiting part). A surprisingly difficult downward dog variation is to sit on a block, legs straight ahead and hold the arms in a downward dog angle - so diagonally upwards. Elongate through the torso and challenge yourself with the angle of the upper body. Shoulders down from the ears. Or chair pose…or yes just do anything but dog!

Happleandhorange · 30/10/2025 06:35

Oh, that's really useful to know re adaptation, thank you! I'm going to mention to my doctor because I think I have slight reflux or something.

Gym today was good, and just vigorous enough that I felt I'd done a proper workou,lt, if you know what I mean, without being exhausted at the end. My next six week stint starts tomorrow - actually it started on Tuesday but I am delaying it until I get my programme from PT tomorrow.

I had been feeling a bit miserable about not doing as much as I wanted, due to shoulder pain (which is thankfully receding a lot with gentle treatment), So a nice vigorous workout today where I felt I was fully doing what I could was great. And I hit 50kg on the leg press (15 x 2 reps) which for me is a huge achievement, I had to wait so long to push myself on it because of ankle. But it seems to be handling it well enough now.

Happleandhorange · 30/10/2025 06:42

In terms of my progress this six weeks. I had three goals - cardio, upper body strength, relearn pelvic floor skills. I've done the cardio and PF to best of my ability ( have got gynae referral going forward). Upper body obviously got disrupted by shoulder but I did see specialist physio as a result so have learnt what not to so and how to train safely in the future.
My lower back is obviously wanting attention as it has started to hurt in last couple of days. All our chiropractors are offering complimentary intro sessions at the moment so I'm going to see one on Saturday. Trying not to catastrophise about it!

Placestogo · 30/10/2025 08:41

After 2 weeks of inactivity (painful periods + holiday) i went for a core control hot pilate class this morning. Felt good… ish! As its hell! 😅
