Short run with ds before the rain, a lot of housework and a trek around the big supermarket. I'm sitting down for the rest of the evening.

90 mins dance class
181.
I've missed loads this week due to a horrible headache /nausea - must be viral as loads seem to have the same.

henlake7 · 18/10/2025 23:21

Weight training and cardio today plus got my steps in.
Really wanted to get out for a couple of runs but I couldn't find the time.

Happleandhorange · 19/10/2025 00:35

WearyAuldWoman, can you afford a physio session? The reason I ask is that if it's tendonitis the kind of exercise you should be doing will change, and you would probably benefit from some professional advice as to how to get it better: you cant just plough on or you will do more damage.

Happleandhorange · 19/10/2025 00:38

Today I did a free trial Muay Thai session. Not at the gym, at a little place in town centre. I really liked it and we've agreed we'll come back in six weeks and see what my shoulder and ankle are doing. They've recommended personal training to start with as I am so crap but it will only be 30 minutes at a time, so not too extortionate. I've realised that longterm "going to the gym" or "being a bit fitter" will not motivate me. I need to feel I am learning a skill. I am going to try out aikido as well.

Comtesse · 19/10/2025 10:09

Am I in the right place? I have been trying to exercise every day. Think I’m at 225 now. Some days just 5 mins stretching or 10 mins yoga so I don’t feel I’m over doing it. Mainly YouTube videos, walks with weighted vest, trying some jeffing, trying some weights too (don’t count walks or cycling to the office/ shops). I’m not very hardcore at ALL but I appear to be very very consistent.

BezMills · 19/10/2025 11:34

Welcome @Comtesse you're in the right place!

henlake7 · 19/10/2025 15:20

Just some light pilates and cardio for me today.
Im just chilling coz its sunday!

Alittlefrustrated · 19/10/2025 18:53

36 x 25m swim
60 mins line dancing class - I was a bit rubbish this week 😳but it was fast and sweaty, so still good. She's a fitness instructor, so she plans it like a fitness class, with warm up, cool down, stretching.
182.
Welcome Comtesse!
This thread is on fire!

stilldumdedumming · 19/10/2025 20:10

Well done @BitOutOfPractice
i did around 20 mins Pilates yesterday. Nothing today except physio but I need to keep a balance. Seeing the physio tomorrow too

Comtesse · 19/10/2025 23:37

20 min walk wearing my weighted vest. That’s it for today!

Happleandhorange · 20/10/2025 11:46

Saw foot physio today. Lots of new exercises plus a,brace for my foot. I'm counting the exercises as a workout because they were very hard!

BitOutOfPractice · 20/10/2025 14:06

I did a pretty intense 70 minutes with my pt this morning. It felt good to be back at it hard. I even did some box jumping - as a 58 year old with arthritic knees I felt quite pleased with myself!

BezMills · 20/10/2025 14:38

Oh well done! Box jumping is a bit scary at first but very good training I think

WearyAuldWumman · 20/10/2025 18:48

45 minutes pilates class - a different teacher while ours is on holiday. A wee bit more strenuous than usual, but I managed most of it.

Went up to the gym and did leg extensions and leg curls...but I could hear my knees cracking as I did them. Yeuch.

WearyAuldWumman · 20/10/2025 18:50

I'll add that I was able to get off the mat again without having to go onto my bad knees. Couldn't have done that a few months ago.

FurForksSake · 20/10/2025 18:53

Hydrotherapy session today, 40 minutes and it was exhausting! I’ve taken my creatine, collagen, glucosamine and tart cherry to try and help the joint pain.

stilldumdedumming · 21/10/2025 07:46

Yesterday was 60 x 25m swim.
Pilates was cancelled.

Comtesse · 21/10/2025 09:26

Yesterday - 13min Lucy Wyndham Read videos, plus 16 min yin yoga video. Plus 8k steps but that doesn’t count as “exercise” that’s just incidental.

stilldumdedumming · 21/10/2025 20:02

Ooo @Happleandhorangei had big needle physio yesterday for my dystonic foot. Apparently in the trigger points. I felt triggered! Woke up at 2 am in so much panic! foot braces don’t work for me sadly.

anyway hard core core class today and medium tough Pilates. Work stopped yoga tonight 😔

stilldumdedumming · 21/10/2025 20:12

Oh 12

WearyAuldWumman · 21/10/2025 20:19

Attended half hour Stretch class this morning. I had to take ibuprofen for my glutes half an hour ago...

Used the lat machine after class. 3 sets of 10 at 25 kg for lats, triceps and biceps.

Worried that the sore foot is never going to sort itself out. I'm fairly certain that I did the damage with the calf stretch - put on 45 kg, had a sore foot...Tried the same the following week but only did 2 sets of 10 and then stopped. (I've been doing two leg days a week, so it wasn't a full week in between.). That pretty much confirmed it.

Have not done any more on the calf stretch machine since then and also stopped using the leg press. Have still been using the leg extension and leg curl (but not today).

The pain has died down a bit - after the second damaging round on the calf stretch, I thought that I was going to throw up a couple of times. I've had problems with my feet for years - previously saw my GP, who took me to the practice podiatrist. The podiatrist just told me to wear lace-up shoes (which I was doing anyway).

NHS website seems to be pointing to a tendon problem. I fit the description: older, overweight, foot operations and increased exercise.

Hey ho.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 21/10/2025 21:26

Bad s&c class today (shoulder has been really sore for the last week) and sprints with ds. He has obviously testosterone surge (he's grown 3 inches and voice has dropped a lot!) and even when I cheated he absolutely hammered me in all of them 🤣

Just to add that I sometimes chat to another woman in the changing room - we do different classes. I had finished Pilates and my lower body work-out. She was heading in to BodyPump.

I thought that she was in her 30s...possibly very early 40s. She is 62.

If that's what BodyPump does for you, maybe I should change classes! (She's not only slim - she has great skin. Not jealous. Definitely not jealous...)

On the plus side, Pilates and Stretch have most definitely improved my flexibility. At the end of Stretch was once again able to get off the mat without crawling to a chair or wall... I've taken to pushing up with my knuckles and then onto my toes, thereby excluding the dodgy knees. Couldn't do that a couple of months ago!

Also, in spite of my moans about my feet I can now bend my weird big toes. (They each contain one screw and one pin, post surgery and one is shorter than the other.)

stilldumdedumming · 21/10/2025 23:35

@WearyAuldWumman firstly, that’s a tremendous victory on the floor to standing. Definitely one to celebrate.

on the foot thing, I know it’s good to challenge but I would be tempted to be super protective of those feet of yours and exercise everything around it. Eg I absolutely will not do lunges or even stepping back movements because my feet are so unstable it puts pressure on my knees. I can squat well and my core is amazing!

also, I would say be prepared for healing to take a long time and that’s even more of a reason to exercise around it (which I’m pretty certain you are doing - but just wanted to offer a bit of solidarity on exercising while injured!)
