Went to the gym today having missed 2 sessions as we had friends visiting and it just seemed like too much on top of that …. I probably could have gone though. Anyway today was good.

Happleandhorange · 15/10/2025 10:15

@BadActingParsley our gym has as one of its slogans "Be imperfect." I really like that.

Went to branch in north of city today on way to book group. It's small, crowded and on top of a shopping centre, but it's convenient and perfectly good for occasional use. I'd hate to depend on it as my local gym though. I did mostly strength and stretching, with a bit of bike. I was trying to be careful so I didn't collapse but still felt ill when I arrived at restaurant and had row with server.
Book group was good though. One of our members is a yoga teacher , she trained 7am to 5pm five days a week for a year!!!!

roonetta · 15/10/2025 12:44

Nat Hayward mini band workout done ✅

stilldumdedumming · 15/10/2025 12:50

today was 60 lengths of the pool.
And some hippy yoga and meditation in honour of @Happleandhorange😁(which I am not counting as exercise!)

stilldumdedumming · 15/10/2025 12:51

Oh 7

Happleandhorange · 16/10/2025 06:48

Lol to yoga. I shall end up becoming a yoga passionata and eat my words, I know it.

Today I went back to the branch where I got charged for parking, there is now an arrangement in place to try to mitigate that. My Pilates Reformer tutor was on front desk, it turns out he runs the Les Mills group programmes! No wonder he's so good.
44. I am looking forward with more and more anticipation to when I hit fifty workouts and GET NICE CAKE.

Happleandhorange · 16/10/2025 06:51

Oh. And I decided to squeeze my glutes one of the stretches to see if it helped with hip pain. Glutus medius, to be precise. Hip is currently fine but my bum is on fire! Send emergency services (preferably good-looking ones).

BezMills · 16/10/2025 10:05

I woke up a bit snotty yesterday so cancelled my crossfit after umming and ahing about that. In the end I've put in a really solid block of training and I do feel a bit run down so taking a day off seemed to be the play.

I kind of feel like I wrote a post about this already but I guess I didn't press 'post' or sth.

It's the school hols and we're visiting Scotland next week, so will be a 2 crossfits week - at best. I think a couple of soft weeks is just what the doctor ordered at this point. Normally I'd try to get a couple of BodyCombats in and I've now found a Boxercise class too, but this one time is at a premium and at best I can probably get a few monkey bars at the playground or sth like that.

henlake7 · 16/10/2025 13:10

I slept funny last night and hurt my neck so trying to do everything without turning my head!!LOL
Did my usual weight training and cardio on exercise bike this morning and will probably log my usual 10k steps.
Yesterday was post nightshifts (and I hadnt slept for 2 days) so Im shocked I managed to rack 17k steps!😮It helped that I decided to walk to the cinema which is an hours walk each way.

WearyAuldWumman · 16/10/2025 13:14

Managed the Musical Fitness class, but had to miss out some moves - right foot tendons and big toe were simply too sore. However, the workout seems to have eased the tendonitis.

Did a light set on leg curl and leg extension. Didn’t risk leg press and glared at the calf raise machine.

Shall start off light when I return to those.

Actually managed a squat of sorts, in spite of my bad knees.

Happleandhorange · 16/10/2025 13:41

I'm sure those were the right decisions, @BezMills and @WearyAuldWumman. Training when under par from infection or injury has never worked for me.
@henlake7 I am laughing at the not turning head! That wouldn't work in the bodycombat class we did last night, we were constantly being told to kick behind us and follow the moves with our heads!

stilldumdedumming · 16/10/2025 19:50

Absolutely forces myself to do a home quads work out this morning at 6.30 before my dgs arrived. It was a massive effort and I quite like an early start! Then forest school, football and dancing.

stilldumdedumming · 16/10/2025 19:51

had no idea 50 was cake. Superb!

Happleandhorange · 17/10/2025 03:04

I have invented the cake at fifty rule, I confess. It's an exciting thing to look forward to.
Specialist shoulder physio this morning. I was almost crying with pain by the time she had finished pulling me to pieces so went across to city centre gym where I sat with a large cappucino in cafe and recovered. I am counting that as exercise because it was still a gym visit, which is my rule. I will hopefully be at Pilates tonight.

stilldumdedumming · 17/10/2025 10:29

This. Morning was a half hour swim. I didn’t have long so decided not to count lengths and try to tap into the joy of being in the water. Did some treading water too which may have been good for me as my breast stroke is still one- legged due to an injury 5 months ago (sigh)
.
Followed by legs bums and tums class - got there late (a theme emerges) so I had a heavier kettle bell than I liked. But it was a real mood booster!

(mine’s an almond croissant from the local bakery)

WearyAuldWumman · 17/10/2025 11:53

Had an hour’s workout. 4 min HIIT on the treadmill, fast walking.

Full dead bug - 90 seconds only. Side bends and twists with 9 kg weight.

Side raises - 4kg.

Lat machine - 25 kg for lats and triceps; 30 for biceps.

Vibro plate for legs and feet.

BadActingParsley · 17/10/2025 13:09

Weights class - first thing. Glad I went! I'm looking better for it - more toned. Skipped Pilates last night though in favour of a dog walk...last bit of daylight before the clocks change.

StrongLikeMamma · 17/10/2025 16:48

Hour PT today - am going to be aching tomorrow! Am really trying to up my gym sessions to 3x a week plus either swimming or a class now.

The PT is definitely making me feel calmer and stronger ☺️

BitOutOfPractice · 17/10/2025 16:51

Please tell me to go to the gym now and to Stop procrastinating!

roonetta · 17/10/2025 17:16

@BitOutOfPractice off you go! 😁. Promise you’ll feel better for it

Placestogo · 18/10/2025 09:32

I feel so depleted of energy after an intense week at work and an intense week at home. Im not going to my usual bootcamp class today. Ive booked yoga for tomorrow.
im psycing myself for a kind home-workout. DP has installed a thing that turns his road bike into a spin bike in our home gym so i might give this a go. Ive managed to inflate my swiss ball too so i might do some core work.
someone please give me some energy to get up and get dressed!

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 18/10/2025 11:01

I’m plodding on doing the 30-day shred 2-3 times a week (with light weights at the moment as I’m feeling quite weak and wobbly - I think doing something is still better than doing nothing). Otherwise just doing a very short yoga video at bedtime, and trying to lose some weight. It’s all very dreary.

Well done to everyone who is doing better than me!

Placestogo · 18/10/2025 11:42

@ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson im telling myself consistency is key, as you said doing something is better than not doing anything.

Did 15 mins of the bike. Its not really ready as i can only use two gears. I’ll try to find a spin video next time. My bum hurts!!!
Then i did a core session from the buff muff app (specific for pelvic floor) using the swiss ball, sorry, the STABILITY ball. Although the exercises are not hard in themselves, i can see i really need to improve my stability/core! Also some of the exercises using the swiss ball look very similar to some IG reformer pilates videos i have seen. The swiss ball moves in a similar way to the reformer plate. Made me feel quite smug.

BitOutOfPractice · 18/10/2025 14:20

Reader, I went. First run for three week after my op and it felt great. Thank you @roonetta !

I’ve also been today and did an hour of weights. I really enjoyed it. It’s good to be back!

WearyAuldWumman · 18/10/2025 15:00

Having today off. Feet are still quite sore - I'm hoping that the rest will help.

Apparently the problem can be triggered by a sudden increase in exercise. I already have all the other risk factors - older, feet that have been operated on and overweight. Hey ho. Mainly self-inflicted.

Have been doing the foot flexing exercises I found on an NHS website. I'm hoping that it's helping.
