Anyone want to join me?
Yes I know it’s an oldie but I did it about 15 years ago and it was really effective.
I’ve just done day one and the weights and abs stuff weren’t too bad but the cardio nearly killed me, I’m more unfit than I realised.

🥳 level 1 is completed, survived the 10 days and happy to be a third of the way through. Onto level 2 tomorrow which despite having done this a few times I cannot recall and am therefore a bit fearful of! Ah well, I can only give everything I’ve got.

Gummylump · 02/07/2025 19:23

Well done! Everyone's doing so well.👏

Level 1, day 2 done. Barely managed to fit it in after work, picking up my children, getting home, doing dinner, showrs etc etc.

Don't think I'll manage to fit it in tomorrow as well tbh, but will try my best. 😢

Scorpion84 · 02/07/2025 19:32

phoned it in and did beginner shred which is on Jm app

its Still tough to be fair but less impact for the knees .

think it was filmed around 2020 and features Anita and Nat who don't look any older !

Woo finally done the 30 days! I’ll report back with weight loss once the water retention has gone from the sore muscles. My thighs, calves and arms, chest and shoulders are so sculpted!

Has anyone had any weird side effects, like I’ve been getting more headaches from all the blood rushing around.. looking forward to them sodding off!

FloofyBird · 03/07/2025 15:35

Did you take measurements too @Disturbia81? What do you mean by when the water retention has gone, is this something that happens when you're strength/muscle building? Thanks

Well done btw!

Ah thanks ♥️ I weirdly enjoy the last week, and as someone who generally hates exercise it’s nice to feel it get easier as I go along, my body getting stronger.. and I realise why fitness people love keeping fit, instead of thinking they are crazy 😂

I never take measurements no, just see how my clothes fit differently. I’m getting into size 10s/small now in primark so that’s a great feeling

So our bodies swell up cortisol/fluid when we work our muscles, because it needs to do that to heal the little tears and allow the muscles to grow. Once we stop working out we release the fluid and see the true results of our hard work. I was only told this in the last few years, and it made sense as I always gain weight when I workout and then end up giving up. Because I’ve always thought diet + exercise will make the scale go down quickly. But it’s a waiting game. My face is so puffy! But I know in a few days/week I’ll feel good about myself

L1 D2 completed. Couldn’t do it yesterday as my muscles ached! 😩 I tried your approach of staying on the floor for the last abdominal set @TheBang as I don’t think Jillian gives enough time to get off the floor to pick up your weights and start. That did mean I had to do two sets of side lunges. I’m not sure if that was a good or bad thing - my thighs will tell me tomorrow 😀

TheFormidableMrsC · 03/07/2025 16:31

This has motivated me to dig out my DVD of
this. I do know it’s bloody hard work but fast results and it tones you really quickly!

Ikwym. A few years ago I really got into my fitness and actually looked forward to working out. It made life a lot easier I have to say 😂. Then I lost it and really have to force myself again now.

ohhh I didn't know that. So what happens if you're working out consistently all the time? surely you won't stay puffy forever?

From what I’ve read as our muscles get more used to doing the same exercise, they retain less water, but then when you want to push them and grow them they will retain more again as they are getting injured and sore in order to grow.
Whatever exercise we do there will always be some retention, it’s why professionals stop working out a week before competitions so they look chiseled etc. If I know I’m going out/wedding or something I’ll stop exercising about 5 days before at least.

Jillian Michaels saved my sanity on maternity leave! Lifted me out of my terrible depression for a brief time every morning. I still have the dvd. Level 2 was my fave. Inspired to get it out and start again!

Gummylump · 03/07/2025 21:19

Day 3 done. Really enjoying it! 😮

Careerdecisions · 04/07/2025 18:51

I had to skip a day yesterday, I had a three hour commute home after a long day and decided Day 1 of Level 2 was probably unwise. Back on it today though and Jillian would be very pleased with me because I did indeed ‘feel like I was going to die.’ I’m still here though so will need to do it again tomorrow. Quite enjoyed the change of exercises although still very challenging. All the face down floor exercises gave me a very unflattering view of my thighs to spur me on to do more. 😂

NcforMeNc · 05/07/2025 05:58

My DVD came a few days ago but I'm scared to start it 🤣

Buntyforgirls · 05/07/2025 09:12

L1 d5 yesterday, I think, and I did C25k first rather than after, and that was a better way round.
Also wore trainers which helped with the jj- which I hate, boooo.
Want to complete 3 days back to back and rest Monday with yoga.
@NcforMeNc , open the box!
Happy weekend all, and happy shredding!

Careerdecisions · 05/07/2025 09:31

@NcforMeNc the sooner you get started the sooner you will be on your way to cracking it. Just do what you can, follow Anita and see how you get on. As Jillian says ‘just give her everything you’ve got!’ Good luck and see you on the other side.

Gummylump · 05/07/2025 11:43

Yesterday was a very busy and stressful day so I missed a day.

Day 4 done today...with my children in tow, which was distracting but also very cute. My 6 year old was especially invested and giving it all a go. 😁 Will see if he has the same enthusiasm tomorrow.

Saggyoldclothbody · 05/07/2025 12:04

L1D3 completed. Before I had anything to eat though and it felt harder than Thursday. I had to stop, have a drink of water and open the window for a bit of a breeze.

Since i last did attempted this (in 2014), or any kind of structured exercise (in 2020) I have stiffened up so much. During the cool down, and for most of my life before that even at heavier weights than I am now, I used to be able to get my head to my knee. Now, I can barely touch my toes 😳

Jumping jacks are getting a little more bouncy with arm flapping, my knee kicks are more like slow skipping rope.

I had two cats watching very intently with a look of distain. I hope they don’t decide to join in 😀

Careerdecisions · 05/07/2025 13:18

Haha, loving the stories of the children and pets joining in. My dogs just normally lounge about watching but my golden retriever was quite keen to join in the skaters in level 2 and started jumping on me, I really didn’t need the extra resistance training!

REDB99 · 05/07/2025 13:59

Level 2 is killing me, it’s so hard!

HermioneWeasley · 05/07/2025 16:42

I think level 2 is harder than 3

I agree! Level 2 is my nemesis.
