Anyone want to join me?
Yes I know it’s an oldie but I did it about 15 years ago and it was really effective.
I’ve just done day one and the weights and abs stuff weren’t too bad but the cardio nearly killed me, I’m more unfit than I realised.

You’ve done brilliantly keeping up with it all despite everything. Sending best wishes for a very speedy recovery @IDareSay

Althing are you sure you’re ok to hoover?! 😉 (Any excuse not to do housework!!)

I’ve not shredded this week but I have done 3 Zumbas and walked 3 miles every day.

Saggyoldclothbody · 15/03/2026 12:46

L2D8 30DS ✅

I’ve avoided Jillian this week as my knee was displaying symptoms that took me down the road to an arthroscopy last time so I’ve concentrated on standing dumbbell weights this week. 🙏 it appears to have settled so I joined Jillian this morning.

Good luck with the operation @IDareSayand avoid the hoovering afterwards. I had lunch with a friend this week who still has her husband doing all the hoovering on the basis that “I’ve had a hysterectomy” even when that was over 30 years ago 🤨😂

I am looking for a long series with lots of episodes to watch (well, listen to really) as I do housework. ER is a good contender. I don’t know how you manage to shred with it. Treadmill I can understand but following a routine would be beyond me 🥴

IDareSay · 15/03/2026 18:03

It’s purely a treadmill watch @Saggyoldclothbody I would be arse over teapot if I tried to shred with something on the telly!

Only 331 episodes, you know you want to...😄

Your friend sounds very sensible 😉
Hope your knee continues to settle down.

IwanttotakeyoutoaNailaBar · 16/03/2026 19:35

Great to hear you are still motivated @IDareSay . Speedy recover

@Happyhettie I think mixing it up works too. Walking is for the heart.

@Saggyoldclothbody as Gillian says @ no getting hurt”. Weights will pay dividends.

I’ve done a L3 tonight because Made in Chelsea’s on. Skinny 20 year olds are motivational 😁

BelgianSleuth · 28/03/2026 13:05

Just found this thread, I'm going to start 30DS. I have a holiday booked for July so have around 15 weeks to tone up! I love JM and used to do her workouts years ago when the kids were toddlers. I cant remember how long I should spend on each level before moving on though, what has worked for you guys? Would love to hear any success stories, anything to keep me motivated 😂

IDareSay · 28/03/2026 13:14

Hi @BelgianSleuth

Each level is 10 days and I found the most benefit was if I did do it every day. I enjoyed it so much I did it twice back to back last year! It really works if you commit to it and it completely changed my shape.

I am currently recuperating after surgery and I am itching to get back to Jillian’s workouts; I did her Beginner Shred before my op to get in the best shape I could even though I wasn’t up to doing the 30DS due to injury (not Jillian related!)

Might be worth looking out for it if you do find 30DS a bit much to start with. I use the app as it has all her workouts on but the DVDs are usually available fairly cheaply. I came across on in a charity shop the other day.

BelgianSleuth · 28/03/2026 17:09

Thanks @IDareSay glad to hear you had success with it, hopefully you'll be able to get back into it again soon!

I used to have one of her DVD boxset's but I think it got scratched to pieces, and no idea where it is now. I was looking at getting the app but decided to buy 30DS on youtube, will see how I get on with that first! I'm going to start tomorrow, I think i'll need to force myself to do it first thing otherwise will come up with excuses all day!

WinterOnItsWayOut · 28/03/2026 18:25

I’m currently away but hoping to get back on it Monday or Tuesday for my next trip in early May….

IDareSay · 01/04/2026 08:45

Happy April everyone, how is shredding going?

I am now 2 weeks post-op and walking without any aids. Being quite careful and just pottering about but managed a short trip around Waitrose yesterday with no ill effects.

I see the physio for the first time since my op next week and I am hoping he will clear me to get on the treadmill so I can start to build up distance safely.

No Jillian planned for the near future but hoping to start something by the summer, maybe 3 months post op. Will see what physio says; the team know I want to get back to proper exercise so I’m hoping they will be supportive and not assume I am decrepit!

Merrow · 03/04/2026 18:54

I discovered 30DS when getting ready for my wedding 13 years ago, now I'm back at it with the hope of looking a bit better by my 40th next month! It is weird how much I remember, and I'm still amused by "you don't get to the finish line and stop".

IDareSay · 08/04/2026 08:51

Physio was brilliant yesterday and she has no problem with my keenness to get back to exercising regularly.

She has given me new exercises to strengthen the muscles supporting my hip and has no worries about me doing upper body weights supported by a chair to lean on or sit on.

I spent a happy hour last night creating a spreadsheet to monitor my progress and will see her again in 3 weeks to report back. I’m starting today with my lightest weights and just one set of everything, building up the weight and aiming for 3 sets of everything by the time I see her next.

I’m allowed to get back on the treadmill and to build up my minutes, but most importantly I can go out walking with the dogs again 😍

If all goes well, I hope to return to Jillian as early as the end of this month. I have found yet another version of the shred on the app, ‘Beginner Low Impact Shred’ which looks doable, with only a couple of exercises that would break the ‘hip protocols’ so I can just skip those unless physio says they are ok. I’ll show her the programme when I see her.

I’m being very careful and taking things gently but it was so good to put my exercise gear on this morning!

BelgianSleuth · 09/04/2026 19:08

@IDareSay Thats great news, glad to hear you’re on the mend and getting back into things!

I was away visiting family with the kids for a few days, so haven’t even done a full week of it yet. I meant to get back into it today, but couldn’t seem to get motivated :(

IDareSay · 12/04/2026 08:53

Have you found your motivation @BelgianSleuth ? Check down the sofa cushions 😁Getting started again is hard but it feels so good when you do.

Progress so far; started my rehab regime on Wednesday with one set of minimum reps of each exercise and a walk with the dogs (up and down hills!) It was wonderful to be properly active again.

Same on Thursday, but this time with 2 sets of minimum reps and a flat walk.

Friday I upped the reps to maximum for each exercise (mostly 10, but a few are 20), and did 2 sets, followed by a hilly walk.

Saturday; serious DOMS! Haven’t felt those for a while. I took a rest day and just did a steady 45 minutes on the treadmill at 4km ph (flat) while DH took the dogs up the very steep hill.

Feeling good this morning. Longest walking distance was 3.7km (2 miles) on Friday; feel tired and achy after the walks but it passes quickly.

In my kit and about to start my exercises. Sunny but chilly so good for walking later.

IDareSay · 05/05/2026 09:40

Hello all, how is everyone getting on? Or have we all fallen off the shred wagon?!

I have had clearance from the physio to start shredding again and had chosen the 30 minute ‘Beginner Low Impact Shred’ as the ‘easiest’ one to start with. The physio was amused that this was the ‘easiest’ when I showed her the exercises!

There are a couple of exercises I am not allowed to do (curtsey lunges is one) as they involve crossing my operated leg across my body, which is still a no no for some time but otherwise I can crack on as long as I am sensible.

Sadly, I am having to delay starting as my hearing aids have gone on the blink and one is away being repaired so I can’t hear my phone through them. As I use the Jillian app this means I will have to cast it to the TV or find the bluetooth speaker for my phone, both of these are doable of course but I would have to have the sound up very loud and inflict it on the rest of the household.

So, I shall delay starting until my hearing aid comes back for the sake of household peace 🙂

Continuing with my other regime for now, but looking forward to getting back to Jillian.

Iheartmysmart · 05/05/2026 11:52

Hello everyone. How are you all? I’ve been away for ages ☹️ Firstly due to feeling rubbish at the end of last year which was eventually diagnosed as severe iron deficiency. Had treatment for that and was ready to restart Jillian and now I’ve torn my rotator cuff!

I hear you’ve been in the wars @IDareSay

IDareSay · 05/05/2026 12:05

Oh no @Iheartmysmart ! That’s a bugger. Glad you have sorted the anaemia but shoulder injuries really put a stop to a lot of exercises 🙁Are you having any treatment?

I am technically out of the wars now with my seven week old shiny new hip, so just technology holding me back from shredding.

Iheartmysmart · 05/05/2026 13:12

Gosh @IDareSay that’s pretty serious if you needed a new hip. I’m glad to hear you’re on the mend now.

I have exercises from the physio to do for my shoulder but they aren’t really helping. Fortunately it’s my left shoulder so it could have been worse but I’m bored of it now.

IDareSay · 02/06/2026 13:58

Hello all!

Very quiet on here but I’ll post into the void if I have to 😄

All the planets finally aligned and I am back on it with Jillian since yesterday, starting gently with her Beginner Low Impact Shred on the app.

Yesterday wasn’t too bad, good mix of exercises and plenty of upper body weights, but today has really kicked my arse! No plyometrics (hence the low impact) but lots of squats and lunges and planks, my quads are still trembling hours later 😭

I have clearly lost a huge amount of strength in my lower body, even though I have been doing my physio led rehab exercises religiously, so I have a long road ahead to build up to my previous fitness level. Shouldn’t have surprised me really but it has; haven’t been able to do any serious exercise since January then had my op in March.

Tomorrow is a rest day and I’ll need it!

OublietteBravo · 03/06/2026 07:44

Hello! Coincidentally I did my first Jillian for ages on Monday (BFBM). I was a bit achy yesterday, so I did a dance exercise DVD instead. Planning a run today (weather permitting).

OublietteBravo · 04/06/2026 07:59

The weather was so wet yesterday. So I bailed on the run, and did 30DS L1 instead.

IDareSay · 05/06/2026 10:16

Well I can finally use my legs without trembling but was very relieved to see that yesterday's session was just a 10 minute cardio workout!

A repeat of day 1 upper body to do today and then a repeat day 2 for tomorrow (the dreaded lower body!) and then a rest day on Sunday.

Feeling so much better for getting back into the swing of exercise; with any luck I won’t need to take any extended breaks. Would love to get back to feeling as fit as I did before Christmas.
