Anyone want to join me?
Yes I know it’s an oldie but I did it about 15 years ago and it was really effective.
I’ve just done day one and the weights and abs stuff weren’t too bad but the cardio nearly killed me, I’m more unfit than I realised.

Oh @Saggyoldclothbody I do hope you feel properly better soon. You are over the halfway mark now!

Good to see you back @Happyhettie
It’s quite shocking how a lay off sets you back so quickly and I’m in the same boat with the weight gain.

But it’s finally March and we can only go up from here!

Happyhettie · 01/03/2026 12:17

It is March and spring is springing and everything seems better with more sunshine / flowers!

L1 D2 completed. Feel better for it, hopefully I’ll look better for it soon too. Feel very podgy and lethargic at the moment.

Going to sound totally vain, we have staff photos and class photos in a few weeks and I don’t want to look so awful on the photos.

Happyhettie · 02/03/2026 19:36

L1 D3 completed. Bit achy but feeling smug!

IwanttotakeyoutoaNailaBar · 02/03/2026 23:00

Done the 30 days ( started Jan 24th - sounds so long ago now we are in March).

Trying to keep it up until Easter although had a “rest day” last week and yesterday. I am flipping between 1 and 3 and using 5kg weights when I can (2kg normally). Motivation is dwindling though …

IDareSay · 03/03/2026 09:54

Day 4 of Beginner 30DS done yesterday ✅ rest day today but will do a treadmill walk.

Keep going @IwanttotakeyoutoaNailaBar you are doing really well; can you see and feel a difference in your shape?

If a little bit of vanity is motivating then I’m all for it @Happyhettie !
I do want to be fitter, stronger, and more flexible but not ashamed to say I want to look better too. I’m very soft around the middle again and missing the waist I was seeing before Christmas!

IDareSay · 04/03/2026 12:17

Day 5 of Beginner 30DS done ✅
Still finding it pretty tough and sad to have lost so much fitness but I will get it back once I get my bionic hip. So glad I bit the bullet and booked in for it as it’s really painful now.

Did 45 minutes on the treadmill yesterday, watching ER.
I decided to watch from the very beginning now it’s all on Netflix with no ads. Everyone looks so young! Mind you so did I in 1994….half my life ago 😳

Happyhettie · 04/03/2026 19:16

Well done! Sounds like you’ve form the right thing booking the appointment, I’m sorry to hear it’s painful. Are you ok to be exercising?
Once you are bionic, you’ll soon get your fitness back and have a new lease of life but it is frustrating when you’ve done so well last year!
Make sure you’re not over doing it an looking after yourself.

L1 D4 completed. Couldn’t fit it in yesterday with work / family commitments but I did miss it. Got class photos AND now a birthday party to go to in a few weeks. Definitely want to feel better about going out / photos etc. Maybe if I were more social on an ongoing basis, I’d be more motivated?!

ER was brilliant, hope it’s just as enjoyable now. Can’t believe how time has flown.

Happyhettie · 05/03/2026 18:47

L1 D5 completed. Jumping jacks were a bit easier. Did 3 lots jumping but the others were half jacks, being careful with dodgy ankle.

IwanttotakeyoutoaNailaBar · 05/03/2026 20:58

Well done @Happyhettie how long are you staying at L1 for do think?

I’ve missed 3 days now due to having a cold. Must get back on it.i’’ve done 30 days and DH says I look better. However I’ve also started making my own bread which is fatal. No good having muscles hidden by layers of bread and butter.

Happyhettie · 05/03/2026 21:17

Thanks @IwanttotakeyoutoaNailaBar the plan is to do 10 days and then on to level 2 which I hate but I know works.

Well done for completing the shred. Do you feel better for it as well as looking better?

IDareSay · 06/03/2026 11:02

Thanks @Happyhettie I’m following physio orders and I know walking is the best thing I can do so treadmill and ER it is, with a teeny weeny bit of Jillian to keep me from going crazy!

The pain is nothing new so I’m used to it, if I get any ‘new’ pain then I’ll stop. I’m already feeling the benefit of exercising again, much less stiff and walking better. I can feel the strength is returning to my legs.

Look after that ankle!

Bread, especially toast with butter, is my downfall @IwanttotakeyoutoaNailaBar 😋
Having said that, I might go back to making my own bread again as I find it tastier and more satisfying as I can tinker with it.
I definitely have a six pack under my toast layer, honest 😄

Saggyoldclothbody · 07/03/2026 13:13

Well, I’m just terrible at updating my progress:

27/2/26 L2D5
3/3/26 L2D6
7/3/26 L2D7

I’ve been adding an extra dumbbell session on the vibration plate after finishing Jillian and it’s putting me off my accountability reporting stride. My Fitbit keeps the evidence though.

I’m going to be the outlier here and say i quite like level 2 😊

IwanttotakeyoutoaNailaBar · 07/03/2026 13:25

Well done all. I did L3 today after having a cold this week.
It felt ok.
I do feel better for having do it and my core feels and looks firmer. If I dropped 10lbs it would definitely show. Thats thd he t challenge.

I know the feeling @IwanttotakeyoutoaNailaBar

Before Christmas, after I had done 2 shreds and the 90 day body revolution, and had been gradually losing weight, I definitely had visible abs (In the right light and standing at the right angle and tensing them 😄).

They have disappeared under a layer of hot cross buns and toast now but I have seen them! I know I can get them back!
(I’m around 5lbs heavier than my lowest weight which isn’t a lot in the scheme of things and I know I can shift it once my op is done.)

Happyhettie · 07/03/2026 19:20

Well done everyone!

I had a day off exercise yesterday because I was so achy and today I’ve done a couple of miles walk and a little bit of weights. Back to 30DS tomorrow.

IDareSay · 09/03/2026 09:07

Day 6 of Beginner 30DS done on Friday ✅
Day 7 of Beginner 30DS done yesterday ✅

3 to go then I’m under the knife!

Did an hour on the treadmill yesterday and walking is much better now.
I’m really ploughing through ER! Susan’s sister has just turned up...😳

WinterOnItsWayOut · 09/03/2026 10:04

I go on holiday in 2 weeks so back on the Shred after putting my back out and then turning my ankle resulting in some lovely purple bruising 🙄

L1 D1 completed. I won’t be able to do every day as away at the weekend but figure something is better than nothing!

cocoloco12 · 09/03/2026 17:49

Was looking for a thread on this. Holiday at the end of April and need a kick up the backside. It worked well before so hoping still works now!

IDareSay · 11/03/2026 11:12

Ouch @WinterOnItsWayOut your poor ankle 🙁

Welcome @cocoloco12 it definitely is still working for many of us 😀

Day 8 of Beginner 30DS done yesterday ✅
2 to go...

Still treadmilling every day in the company of the staff of Chicago County General...

WinterOnItsWayOut · 11/03/2026 12:06

Welcome @cocoloco12and lovely to have a holiday as motivation! I’m off in 12 days so panicking now 😂

Well done @IDareSayfor keeping on with it pre surgery 👏. How long is your recovery time?

L1 D2 and 3 done 💪. My Fitbit says my cardio fitness is improving so I’ll take that! I’ll stay in denial over the body fat % 🙈

IDareSay · 12/03/2026 08:34

It’s a great achievement to see improvement on any front @WinterOnItsWayOut (Love your user name by the way).

Expected short term recovery time is 6 weeks. When I had my other hip done I bounced back quite quickly; op in late July, back at work beginning of September. (Well, back in the office, I worked remotely throughout including when in the hospital!)

Now I’m retired I can completely focus on my recovery so expect to be up and about pretty quickly, which is encouraged. Full and complete recovery is expected to take about a year. I’ll be consulting my physio on an exercise programme of course, but they seem to mainly deal with very basic stuff so I expect I’ll have to wing it a bit and adapt things as I go along, following basic rules for hip safety (no crossing legs or bending past 90 degrees to begin with for instance). I won’t be damaging my investment for sure 😁

Having the treadmill is going to be very useful, definitely. Still have 320 episodes of ER to go!

IDareSay · 12/03/2026 15:53

Day 9 of Beginner 30DS done ✅
1 more to go...

Just did an hour on the treadmill because I watched the end of one ER episode, started the next, and it was the Christmas one so I had to watch it to the end 😍🎄

WinterOnItsWayOut · 12/03/2026 22:51

@IDareSayim sure you will nail recovery and in the right way! Good luck with the op and it’s great you have ER to aid recovery!

I missed the Shred today but did 2 dog walks and will be back on it tomorrow 💪

I also hope sincerely that Winter is def on its way out 🤞🤞

IDareSay · 14/03/2026 10:16

Thanks @WinterOnItsWayOut
I expect I shall be watching quite a few episodes of ER from my armchair but will look forward to being back on the treadmill. I can see the physio finding me annoying with my constant questions on how soon I can get back to proper exercise!

Day 10 of Beginner 30DS done ✅

That’s me done with exercise now apart from walking until after the op. Took my last painkiller last night so this weekend might be a bit uncomfortable.

IDareSay · 15/03/2026 08:50

Already feels weird to get dressed into normal clothes this morning! I am usually straight into my exercise kit for a Jillian or treadmill session 🙁

Friend is coming for lunch so I shall have a distraction at least. I might even do a little light vacuuming in her honour 😁
