Anyone want to join me?
Yes I know it’s an oldie but I did it about 15 years ago and it was really effective.
I’ve just done day one and the weights and abs stuff weren’t too bad but the cardio nearly killed me, I’m more unfit than I realised.

L1 D5 ✅

Thankfully my boy was sitting on the arm of the sofa above me rather than on me @IDareSayI’m sure your doggy was just helping your fitness regime 😀

Today another cat got the zoomies as I was doing pushups and ran under mid exercise - thankfully only once and he didn’t decide to jump on my back on his second loop round the room!

I kind of like the 20 minute slog as it gets things over and done with quickly. When I go to the gym, it’s usually over an hour (which I enjoy) and the whole getting there/getting back takes over 2 hours.

😀

IDareSay · 17/01/2026 13:19

Oh he was always helpful @Saggyoldclothbody , very willing to eat any leftovers as well to save me from myself 😄

Week 2 Day 6 of Ripped in 30 done, having a rest day tomorrow. Now for a sunny walk on the beach with the young ladies (dogs, not humans 😎)

Buntyforgirls · 17/01/2026 13:28

Can I join back in, please? Did level 1 and half of level 2 last summer , and saw great results- unfortunately -as I did not enjoy it!!
EOL for DM then happened, and that was it for any normal life for a while.
Had hoped the exercise I love, yoga, pilates and walks would be enough, but doesn't bring the same visual results to waistline as the shred, so... starting again. And with a better mindset, as I KNOW it is worth it.
Thank you, Happy Saturday!

IDareSay · 19/01/2026 12:09

Week 3 Day 1 of Ripped in 30 done and it’s the return of the rock ’n’ roll squats! (Still can’t do them 😅)

Welcome back @Buntyforgirls yes like it or not the Shred does work! I did it twice last year and it’s good to have my waist back. I’m working my way through lots of other Jillian workouts now.

Saggyoldclothbody · 19/01/2026 12:16

L1D6 done. I have no idea why but my max HR was 10bpm higher than Saturday with no change in the weights I was using 🤨

Welcome back Bunty. Easing yourself back into a new normal takes time but you’ll get there Flowers

Buntyforgirls · 19/01/2026 12:23

Thanks everyone! Delayed start as I slipped on a muddy hillside walk and the tumble has given me a few bumps and bruises.
Started with just the cardio and abs, but can feel I was dialling it in! Will go on the treadmill at gym instead today.
You are both doing so well!

OublietteBravo · 19/01/2026 19:02

Welcome back @Buntyforgirls! I know what you mean about it actually working and making a difference.

I didn’t do very well over the weekend. But it’s a new week, and I’m back on it!

WinterOnItsWayOut · 19/01/2026 21:46

I dusted off my DVD from about 15 years ago, reactivated my DVD player once I’d located the remote and did L1 D1 💪

Now just got to keep going….

IDareSay · 20/01/2026 16:13

Hello @WinterOnItsWayOut and welcome to being sucked back in to JillianWorld 😄

No serious shredding for me; I have managed to crick something in my back just from existing. I'm pretty sure it’s because my left hip pain is altering my gait and consequently my lower back has now rebelled. Whatever it is, it’s bloody painful. Did a gentle walk with the dogs to try and ease it, but given I was struggling to stay upright in the gale that probably didn’t help!

Have had to resort to painkillers but did manage 20 minutes of gentle yoga just to keep things flexible if I can. I’ll reassess tomorrow and see if it improves at all.
Bum.

WinterOnItsWayOut · 20/01/2026 16:52

Thanks @IDareSay and sorry to hear about your back - hope it improves soon. I put my knee out a few months ago and it sucks 😩

L1 D2 completed 💪

OublietteBravo · 20/01/2026 19:05

Ouch! Back pain is the worst. I hope it relaxes and releases soon.

I’ve just done 30DS L2D1

I hate this workout so much. It's my nemesis! That final circuit is just horrible.

Saggyoldclothbody · 21/01/2026 11:07

L1 D7 30DS done. I’m finding the first cardio session the most difficult but the third is the one where I can do jump ropes with both feet off the ground at the same time. Now I’ve started again, I’m wondering if I should rotate through each level instead of doing 10 of each at a time.

Welcome @WinterOnItsWayOut and bad luck with the back @IDareSayI often have a sore back when my hips are too tight so revert to walking and floor work to improve things. Having a sore back is so debilitating 🙁

IDareSay · 21/01/2026 11:45

Thanks all for the sympathy. It’s much worse today and I think I know what is going on; my arthritic left hip (which is definitely in need of replacement) has got suddenly worse and painful, with an audible ‘click’ when I go upstairs. Consequently my gait has been affected and this has caused my lower back to get pretty cross.

I managed some gentle yoga yesterday but by the evening I had a lot of pain in my right leg (my right hip has been replaced) particularly in the thigh so I think my back is now quite inflamed and that has put pressure on the nerve, so my ‘good’ leg is now even worse than my ‘bad’ leg! Ibuprofen and stretching are keeping me more or less mobile but I’ll be holding off on the exercise, including yoga, until things feel more stable. It’s very tempting just to lie still but i am getting up and walking around every half hour even though it is painful.

I see the GP next week to discuss my left hip replacement and I’m hoping he will get on with referring me quickly. I’m still annoyed he didn’t just send off the referral last week when I contacted him as it clearly says in my notes from the surgeon that I should be referred back as soon as it deteriorates further.

At least I’m in as good a physical shape as I can be thanks to 6 months with Jillian!

OublietteBravo · 21/01/2026 21:35

I took my running kit to work, where it sat under my desk whilst I looked out of the window at the pouring rain. Which is why I ended up doing 30DS L2D2 this evening!

WinterOnItsWayOut · 22/01/2026 07:48

L1 D3 completed yesterday 💪. I shall continue to post here to keep accountable!

Take it easy @IDareSay. Do you have anyone who does sports massage/physio near you? I have a great guy who does massage/acupuncture and ultrasound who I visit whenever I knock any part of my body out of whack!

IDareSay · 22/01/2026 10:36

That’s a very good call @WinterOnItsWayOut

I had a great osteopath/masseuse who could always sort out my dodgy shoulder quickly but sadly (for me) she retired last year. I haven’t got around to finding someone new so that is now on my to do list. A good person is worth their weight in gold so I’ll start asking around.

Meanwhile I am awaiting a call back from the GP after getting the runaround with 111 and a paramedic on the phone last night (wish that was literal and I could run around!)

WinterOnItsWayOut · 22/01/2026 15:00

Hope you got your call back @IDareSay. My physio is saying he’s going to retire in 5 years 😢. He’s a life saver for me!

L1 D4 completed ✅

Unfortunately GP has sent me to A&E….65 minutes and counting despite being told there isn’t much of a wait.

WinterOnItsWayOut · 22/01/2026 15:15

Oh no 😟. Hope the wait isn’t too long AND they can give you some answers 🤞

WinterOnItsWayOut · 23/01/2026 14:10

How did you get on @IDareSay? 🤞

In and out in 6 hours….

X-ray not showing an obvious fracture, but boy doctor not ruling out hairline stress fracture, so basically they don’t know but also suspect soft tissue injury (ligaments/muscles/tendons).
Rest, ice, analgesia and crutches for a few days and come back if no improvement. 'Complicated things, hips', was the general vibe. Bloody painful still!

I’m at the GP next Thursday for my original appt so will see how it goes. Definitely no Jillian, obviously 😟

Saggyoldclothbody · 23/01/2026 15:04

L1D8 of 30DS completed today - with the addition of a vibrating plate for some of the weights exercises! 😲 I’ve been reading about the benefits for lymphatic drainage, bone density and balance, and someone on MN said they thought it had helped with their loose skin (of which I have a lot!) so I bought one on FB marketplace and now I have to actually use it. It’s…. different (and pretty horrifying to watch how much it makes me wobble 😀).

You're not having a good time of it @IDareSay - I hope the pain is manageable. One of my friends had their hip replaced earlier this week and they had some terrible bouts of agony before getting the right medication to help them get to the operation stage.

OublietteBravo · 23/01/2026 18:28

You poor thing @IDareSay. I hope your GP gets in with referring you asap!

I had a distinct dip in motivation yesterday. Feeling better today: 30DS L2D3

WinterOnItsWayOut · 25/01/2026 19:28

Day 6 and 7 done 🙌

I’m away for valentines weekend so won’t make 30 days (away this weekend too) so think I’ll go to L2 tomorrow.

My memories of L2 still haunt me 😩

Saggyoldclothbody · 26/01/2026 12:19

L1 D9 30DS done. Occasionally I do days back to back but realistically I’m aiming for 3-4 times a week so I’m very impressed by those of you who aim to do it in 30 days (even if life gets in the way to prevent that) 👏👏👏
