30 Day Shred

Anyone want to join me?
Yes I know it’s an oldie but I did it about 15 years ago and it was really effective.
I’ve just done day one and the weights and abs stuff weren’t too bad but the cardio nearly killed me, I’m more unfit than I realised.

Hurrah, I have started!
Cardio was a bit sedate,-yes Jillian, there is such a thing as a modified star jump -because I found it!
L1 D1 ✔️
Well done to everyone, enjoy the day

WinterOnItsWayOut · 26/01/2026 17:41

@Saggyoldclothbody I’m cutting it short to fit in round things rather than doing the straight full 30 days 🤣

@Buntyforgirlswell done for starting, always the hardest part 👏

L2 D1 done (Day 8). It’s as bad as I remember! I recall quite liking L3

IwanttotakeyoutoaNailaBar · 26/01/2026 18:05

L1 D1 yesterday.
Getting on it in a bit. I never do L2. Hate it and it’s too hard. I skip straight to t3 after 2 weeks or so.
Might be longer this time - I’ve not aged well…

WinterOnItsWayOut · 27/01/2026 11:28

L2 D2 (Day 9) done 🙌
Going ok with L2 so far this time so 🤞🤞

WinterOnItsWayOut · 28/01/2026 12:27

L2 D3 (Day 10) ✅

i really wasn’t looking forward to L2 so decided to do L1. Then gave myself a good talking to and did L2 💪

WinterOnItsWayOut · 29/01/2026 22:14

L2 D5 (Day 11)

Am away for the weekend so will try and do it tomorrow morning and have Sat off. Not sure I’ll be feeling it when I get back on Sunday afternoon but we shall see….

Saggyoldclothbody · 01/02/2026 20:27

Today I did L2D1 30DS (after forgetting to update on Thursday that I did L1D10). I can’t remember the different workouts so went back to 1.5kg weights throughout.

What do people find so difficult about L2? I can’t say I find any of it better or worse than the rest.

IDareSay · 02/02/2026 11:53

You are all doing so well and I am very much missing my Jillian workouts!

GP I saw on Thursday seems to have got to the bottom of the problem by actually examining me, very likely a tear to the biggest quad muscle in right thigh. Referred to NHS physio but that will take weeks so I’m seeing a private physio this afternoon.

Still can’t walk without crutches/sticks, so I’m hoping she will get me moving safely again. Realistically I’m thinking end of this month before I can do anything even slightly strenuous but will do what she tells me 💪
Even a walk in the rain with the dogs would be an improvement, I’m going a bit stir crazy 😏

(GP did refer me back to surgeon for left hip replacement too; he agrees it’s very clicky and creaky).

WinterOnItsWayOut · 02/02/2026 17:20

@IDareSay good that you’ve got a diagnosis and hip referral. Also good news on the private physio - hopefully they’ll have you up and running (literally!) soon.

@SaggyoldclothbodyI think it’s the continual squats/plank and effect on the knees that does it for me but I am 53 so feel it there!

I did Friday and today (L2 D6 - Day 13) so after tomorrow I’ll move to L3. I seem to remember quite liking it! #weirdo 😂

IwanttotakeyoutoaNailaBar · 03/02/2026 07:34

L1D7

Level 2 is too jumpy and fast so I never feel like I’m doing it properly.
I just carry on with L1 but increase the weights and use them for cardio moves.

The weekend late morning sessions are so much easier than after work Initice.

Saggyoldclothbody · 03/02/2026 11:38

L2D2 ✔️ still with 1.5kg weights but I did most of the standing stuff and plank style exercises on the vibrating plate. Since my wobbly arms are a main focus, that felt like they were really being worked so I might increase the speed a bit, although looking at them wobble is not for the faint hearted 🥴

Thankfully my knees aren’t too bad although I have had an arthroscopy in one. As long as I do more warm up, it’s not too bad but I have to be careful jumping too much @WinterOnItsWayOut

How are you feeling after your trip to the physio @IDareSay ? I’ve found most NHS physios don’t lay hands on you but I had a marvellous private physio who treated the local triathlon club and could give amazing (and sometimes quite painful) sports massages that always got the knots out.

WinterOnItsWayOut · 03/02/2026 13:42

Well done @Saggyoldclothbody - I’m using 2.25kg weights and for some of the rows use 4kg. I also use some lighter weights in the cardio too 💪. I used to use the vibrating plate at the gym and really liked it but they’ve removed them now ☹️

L2 D7 (Day 14) done. On to L3 tomorrow and hope I’ve not misremembered quite enjoying it!! 😬

No movement on the scales and the only thing which seems to be shrinking are my boobs 🤨

IDareSay · 03/02/2026 13:58

Thanks for asking @Saggyoldclothbody

She was certainly very hands on! Took quite a while to go through the whole history of the saga again but once she had that she did a thorough examination and asked lots of questions about what hurt, where it hurt and how much (I find it difficult to describe pain levels as I have quite a high threshold for pain [not dental pain though!] even to the extent of not needing painkillers after my hip ops.)

Anyway, she says my pelvis is completely out of whack, (as I thought) and we need to get that back in shape first so she asked if I would try some acupuncture (I had it in the past for menopause and it made not a jot of difference). I agreed to give it a go and I am certainly a lot less stiff this morning. Also gave me a thorough pummelling and prodding on various areas around the hip so that will have helped too.

I have some exercises to do every day (and I have to sit my right buttock on a hot water bottle when I sit down 😳) and I see her again next week when she says we will work on the leg muscle. Still need sticks to walk as leg feels like it will give way but she says that will heal and I will be able to get back to Jillian once my pelvis is back to something resembling normality.

I can see this being quite expensive but I am hating being so immobile so needs must. Haven’t seen any sign of an orthopaedic appointment yet re my left hip replacement. DH is saying I should just bite the bullet and go private. If the appointment ever does turn up and is months and months away I may have to admit he is right for once! It is a huge outlay though.

WinterOnItsWayOut · 04/02/2026 11:47

@IDareSayI have had acupuncture on my knee and shoulder. Is usually accompanied by massage and sometimes ultrasound so can’t say which it is that helps but it can’t do any harm! Hope it starts to help soon x

L3 D1 (Day 15) ✅

Not sure why I thought I liked it 🤣. But it was a nice change from L2. Plyometrics are hard 😬 🥵

IwanttotakeyoutoaNailaBar · 04/02/2026 17:42

Only just seen Natalie in Level 1 skip the leg luges in the static lunge!
I see why Gillian says “ they are so tough they don’t cheat when I’m not looking” little reminder.

WinterOnItsWayOut · 04/02/2026 18:22

She cheats all the time 🤣. Butt kicks and rock star jumps for starters….

WinterOnItsWayOut · 05/02/2026 13:08

L3 D2 (Day 16) 💪

Nothing more to really say 🥵 other than it’s keeping me accountable!

IDareSay · 05/02/2026 13:35

Well done to all of you who are ploughing on!
Looking forward to be joining you again soon so I’m glad the thread is still alive.

I don’t know whether the acupuncture, massage, heat, or exercises that are doing the trick but there is a slight improvement here thank goodness.

WinterOnItsWayOut · 06/02/2026 14:30

L3 D3 (Day 17) ✅

4 Days to go before heading off on holiday. Sadly its not a hot beach but was nice to use as a target…

Glad to hear @IDareSay that you’re feeling a little better 😊

WinterOnItsWayOut · 07/02/2026 17:30

L3 D4 ✅

3 days to go until I go away 🙌

ImwaitingforMadeleine · 12/02/2026 17:00

Hi, I hope it's okay to crash your thread. I'm thinking of doing the 30 Day Shred but have a couple of questions.

  1. I need to fit it around gym, full time job and pilates (as well as my children, inconveniently). Will it be effective done only 3 times a week?
  2. Is the version on Amazon prime for £6.99 the right one?

Thanks

IwanttotakeyoutoaNailaBar · 12/02/2026 18:05

@ImwaitingforMadeleine

Well it won’t hurt. But it depends what you mean by work. Thinner, stronger, fitter?
I did level 3 intermittently once I’d reached my ideal weight and shape.

That sounds like the right one. I found the digital download ideal as I can watch it on my tv, iPad or phone depending which room I’m in.

I think 30DS is one of the most effective workouts out there; I did it twice last year and it transformed my shape but I did do it every day.

More toned I mean.
