I have been trying on and off to lose weight for the past year but now planning to really exercise 3 times a week if I can and cut down on the sugary crap I eat. A but part of it is the habit of wanting something sweet after dinner when I don't even really want it.

Tuesday wasn't great, I felt it necessary to hoover up the last two strips of fruit and nut chocolate left in the cupboard two hours after my eating window closed (IF) even though I'd had a large dinner (always misjudge mash potatoes) Yesterday however was better although I did ache from upping my exercise this week. I also managed a one minute plank which I was pleased with.

Gymmum82 · 14/09/2023 13:00

Gym session done this morning. Did a Hyrox circuit and full body session. On track with nutrition again.

If anyone is interested in a podcast to try and improve your mindset on nutrition and fitness I would highly recommend ESG fitness podcast. She’s amazing and makes so much sense

Hi everyone!

Meant to check in yesterday but didn't get the chance.

Didn't do as much exercise (just walking) as I would have liked yesterday but still did about 25 mins.

Got weighed this morning and have lost 4lb since Monday morning. Which I can't believe! Maybe some of it is water but it is motivating. However, today is definitely the hungriest I have felt. I had some lentil chips at lunch which was surprisingly delicious.

I have already done a 30 mins walk today- not to be good, was just circumstances so maybe I will have a bit more for dinner tonightS

amiboverd · 14/09/2023 17:08

@Bippertyboo2 well done on the exercise and planking!

@Gymmum82 Ill look that up as I was wanting something like this to listen to - thank you

@helpmebe 4lb since Monday is fantastic! I'd be chuffed with that

How do I get through this part of the evening? We had an early dinner at 5.45 to fit in with my dc1 going out. I've had a couple of round crackers with a slither of cheese since and about 8 grapes, but I'm now hungry again. I can't go to bed hungry as it makes me feel ill. I get low blood sugar too so hunger is not my friend and tips me into a migraine. What can I eat?

amiboverd · 14/09/2023 22:41

@BaffledOnceAgain Toast? Cereal /
porridge? A banana?

OP posts:
amiboverd · 14/09/2023 22:42

Yogurt and some nuts - a bit of protein might help

BaffledOnceAgain · 14/09/2023 22:42

Funnily enough, I've just gone with a tiny bowl of muesli. Thank you for replying.

amiboverd · 14/09/2023 22:43

I went out for a work do and the food was healthy but I did have a bit of chocolate brownie as it was so good

no exercise today but considering it my test day and plan to
do some and and arms tomorrow

amiboverd · 14/09/2023 22:44

@BaffledOnceAgain No problem 🙂

OP posts:
BaffledOnceAgain · 14/09/2023 23:05

I think trying to avoid foods like brownie all the time is unrealistic. I'm a chocaholic and my plan is to try and get things back under control.

amiboverd · 15/09/2023 08:28

@BaffledOnceAgain Same for me. I eat so much sugary food it's more of a habit than enjoyment sometimes and I don't expect to cut it out completely (where's the fun in that?) but cut down.

It's the weekend now so I need to not let myself completely let go...

last time I was trying to cut down on the sugary foods, I let myself eat what I want on weekends but I don't work on Fridays
so it was fri-sat-sun which is half the week...

BaffledOnceAgain · 15/09/2023 08:32

This is my problem too!

amiboverd · 15/09/2023 08:42

I've weighed myself this morning and put on 1.4lb!

Not the end of the world but I was hoping for a minus!

Right I've started. Had a bit of a week... birthday Sunday visit to my mom on Monday meal out Tuesday last day in work on Thursday and meal out to celebrate 🤣🤣 basically I haven't been in the right headspace.

I now have 3 days unemployed 🤣🤣 this morning I've checked my bank account etc then done 15 minutes on the treadmill and 15 minutes on the exercise bike. I'm going to try to do this at least 5 times a week depending on my new work shifts.

I'm also going to go back to intermittent fasting. Should fit in ok with my new job but we'll see.

Off out tonight to a gig so lots of dancing (and drinking but let's not mention that 🤣🤣)

Not just me then! I’ve also gained. I do feel healthier though and my chin spots have cleared up. Hopefully the weight loss will follow.

Went to my second spin class at lunchtime. It didn’t hurt as much as last time and I amazed myself by actually enjoying it! The instructor finished the class a few minutes early and I was disappointed. In the past I would have considered that a win.

Gymmum82 · 15/09/2023 14:47

I still haven’t weighed this week as I don’t want to get thrown off. Went over calories yesterday a little but tomorrow I have a massive fitness event so will be doing 9 hours of workouts. Hopefully that should burn a few calories.
Have been on track today so hoping for a loss when I weigh

amiboverd · 15/09/2023 15:04

@donkey86 I remind myself eight fluctuates and I could weight a couple lb more or less from one moment to the other but I have my fingers crossed 🤞

We had salary reviews this week so planning to get a takeaway to celebrate. It's not a massive pay rise BTW but it's something so going to accept it gratefully rather than my first instinct 😂

Sounds like a fun week @HouseofHolbein and I'm sure you'll burn some calories off with that @Gymmum82

well done everyone else!

I use an app called happy scale. You add your weight and it calculates trends so you can see if you are going up or down. There is a free version which is pretty good and worth a try 😊

amiboverd · 15/09/2023 18:46

That's interesting @HouseofHolbein I'll have a look!

I do try to weigh myself first thing in the morning, after emptying my bladder but before eating or drinking anything and taking off any bulky clothing!!

OP posts:
amiboverd · 15/09/2023 19:37

As well as the takeaway I had half a chocolate cupcake that was given to me as a gift yesterday so not great but then I didn't have a huge amount of takeaway and otherwise all I've had today is some porridge and some chippeas and water.

I did my abs and arms challenge too but it's just 5 mins exercise.

Need to keep it together for the weekend as I usually relax too much...

OP posts:
amiboverd · 15/09/2023 19:38

How is everyone else doing? Any plans for the weekend?

OP posts:
caringcarer · 15/09/2023 20:27

I'll join in. I've lost about 3 1/2 stone but just stopped losing weight now. I'm going to up the dog walking, drink more water and see if that helps.

LBB2020 · 15/09/2023 23:44

Arghhhh this week has not gone to plan! I’ve only done one proper exercise session and food has got worse as the week has gone on! I did however book a session with a PT for the week after next (it’s my DS birthday next week so with that and work I couldn’t fit it in). Will make a big effort to get back on track tomorrow as I feel a bit grim thinking about all the rubbish I’ve eaten the past few days!

HouseofHolbein · 16/09/2023 07:31

Very late night last night so no exercise first thing. I'm timekeeping at parkrun this morning so I'll probably go on the exercise bike when I get home.

Think I'm doing pasta and meatballs for tea and gammon tomorrow 😊 need to do a proper shop tho the fridge and freezer is bare
