Anyone else want to make a real effort from tomorrow - 4 weeks of exercise and eating well?

I have been trying on and off to lose weight for the past year but now planning to really exercise 3 times a week if I can and cut down on the sugary crap I eat. A but part of it is the habit of wanting something sweet after dinner when I don't even really want it.

What shakes are they? Do they make you revenues or is it quite satisfying? Great that you feel more energetic...

It's by a brand called Feel. Complete meal replacement on Amazon. Not a bad price for 14 servings and yes, I actually get full and it lasts a while. Which, if you knew me you would know is a miracle as I'm constantly hungry.

I'd like to join in too. I'm OK on the exercise front but have a very sweet tooth and like some kind of dessert every evening. Need to get on top of that plus snacking before dinner on nuts and Bombay mix!!

I have the same issue, I love chocolate or cake in the evenings. I've replaced it for less than 5 calorie jelly, Asda brand. I'll also admit I eat some of my children's organix animal biscuits which are also very low in calories. They do the job

Gymmum82 · 11/09/2023 10:42

Day 1 started well with a decent breakfast and got 3 classes booked at the gym tonight.
Work today which always distracts me and stops me from snacking. Hopefully I can keep up the nutrition side as I’m always great for a week or so then it all goes to pot

amiboverd · 11/09/2023 10:49

Morning everyone!

I have done my workout. I must admit I struggled with the cardio so stopped after 25-30 mins (should have been 45) but also did a few arms and and exercises from the blogilates app so overall did 35 mins which is something

I still need to weigh myself as I forgot to do it first thing in the morning

Morning everyone. Key for me will be taking better care of what I eat and portion sizes I think. Took my opportunity to exercise early because much of today will be sitting down.

Hope it's a good day for us all.

Hello all, I would love to join, I am a poster on a regular weight loss thread and with the support of the wonderful ladies on that am now a healthy BMI. I still have about 4kg to loose to reach but I also mainly want to focus on getting stronger and more toned. I try and do 4 days of exercise a week, one being horse riding and the other 3 a mix of classes, gym, running etc. but lately I have been only managing 2 (one being riding). Really need the motivation to get back in the habit.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/09/2023 12:01

I weighed myself and I was back up to 160lbs (I fluctuate wildly and retain water like a sponge) but that means I’m about 4lbs up after this weekend and around 6.5lbs above my mini target of being under 11stone.
I ran this morning, so that’s 5k under my belt for this week. I’m planning to do a couple of gym classes and a couple more runs.
I’ve just made a casserole in my slow cooker which will now simmer away all day, really looking forward to sims hearty autumn food!

Bedonkedonk · 11/09/2023 13:53

Same as that thenewaveragebear1983 portion sizes, careful and healthy eating and more exercise...

PaminaMozart · 11/09/2023 13:58

Really need the motivation to get back in the habit.

Try weight training - dumbbells - with Caroline Girvan. She'll sort you out!

purplesparklydinosaur · 11/09/2023 14:07

Oh - me please!

I joined the gym last week and have been written a plan by my trainer (which I’ll pick up tomorrow).

I do the Body Coach plan for food and HIIT workout as well.

amiboverd · 11/09/2023 14:14

I weighed myself this morning and I weigh the same as I did 3-4 weeks ago but I have been on holiday in that time so I'll take that...

Had a late lunch and now need to resist the snacks - the hard bit

TeeNoG · 11/09/2023 14:18

I find avoiding snacks hard too @amiboverd , especially at night! It's not even hunger that motivates me, just habit I think.

I use Nutracheck to stay within kcal and track nutrients, and find it much easier when I plan everything first thing in the morning. That was I don't have to make decisions later in the day when I am maybe less motivated and distracted by other things.

Key for me is picking up the exercise. I'm off work tomorrow so will be hitting the gym first thing.

JudyP · 11/09/2023 14:40

I'm in! I'd like to lose 20 lbs but would love even 10! It's the menopause belly I need to shift! I'm trying 16-8 fasting - less junk/choc/booze and stepping up the exercise- I have a spin bike and the peloton app and this morning woke up at 5.45 to do a 50 min weights work out! Not sure I can get up that early every day and I want to add in an extra dog walk in the evenings as both of us need to loose the weight! Blush hope we can stick to it as my stomach is the biggest it's ever been!

Bippertyboo2 · 11/09/2023 14:53

Everyone seems to be doing well! I managed to walk just over 5 miles first thing, it's still quite close so I didn't find it easy. I first ate at 11.15am and as we're going out tonight will finish eating at 6pm so a reasonable window for intermittent fasting. I also managed a 10 minute workout with light weights and a 5 minute dance lol! Now I'm pooped but i'm only 9 weeks away from my 70th so will be building up slowly so as not to incur injuries or put myself off this regime.

amiboverd · 11/09/2023 15:19

@TeeNoG This is what I was saying too. I don't feel like I'm hungry and sometimes I don't even really want the chocolate / cookie / ice cream but I feel like it's a habit to eat something sweet when I'm doing nothing (like now when I have a few hours free and watching TV but feel I need a snack!) or after dinner.

@JudyP @Bippertyboo2 That's really good! I was thinking this morning I might have to get up earlier twice a week to help fit in the exercise.

I started fairly small today - but did 10 mins abs non stop and another 10 mins HIIT body weight and weights. Also went for a walk up the hill for about an hour. Going to build up to 45 mins bootcamp and 10k steps walking every day. Can't believe how unfit I've become and how weak my arms and stomach are. They used to be so strong. And will be again! Grin

I used to do 4 or 5 a week and then dropped down to two and then none when my work pattern changed and clashed with all my classes. I really noticed that about 4 times a week was optimal in feeling really fit and healthy and strong. Anything less and my fitness began to decline. 4 is the magic number.

helpmebe · 11/09/2023 16:21

I managed to get out on my lunch break and did a 30 minute walk- which I never do! Also managed a low calorie lunch. But am aware it's only ray one and I'm feeling hungry

Toytransportemergency · 11/09/2023 17:24

I’ve been ok (ish!) so far today. Been for a walk before work, going to yoga soon BUT I had some cake left in the fridge and have eaten half of it. Would normally have eaten it all so still a good effort for day 1.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/09/2023 19:06

I’ve had a good day today. Ended the day on 1400 cals which includes an overnight oats chocolate pudding that I haven’t eaten yet! I ran this morning as well.

tomorrow is my office day (normally wfh) so I will take leftovers from dinner today and fruit. I try to go to the gym at 6 on Tuesdays for a hiit class, I haven’t booked on yet but I will.

feeling quite positive so far.

backtoweights · 11/09/2023 19:17

Well I'll buck the trend, I slept terribly and didn't manage any proper exercise today 😭 I didn't even get my usual step count int.

Well done everyone else though!

Tomorrow I'm going to look up a Caroline Girvan routine - any recommendations?

I do a fair bit of CG. Are you wanting a full body workout with weights or lower body or upper body only? If you're new to her but not new to weights, try one from her Iron series - very weights focused with no cardio and around 30 mins long. If you want shorter take a look at her Advent calendar ones from last December. Unless you are seriously fit and used to heavy weights, do not try and match her weights! I aim for half of what she uses so if she is using 17.5kg dumbbells I use my 8's.

WhatAreYouWaitingFor · 11/09/2023 20:22

I've eaten too much today. Oh well!

I'm not going to beat myself up about it!

backtoweights · 11/09/2023 20:48

Thanks @Anjelika I'll look up the iron series! 🙂

Gymmum82 · 11/09/2023 21:06

It’s been a good day. I’m on about 1500 calories. Haven’t snacked. Have done 3 classes after work.
I always start well though then end up giving up so hoping this will be the push to make it last
