Good advice @UnaOfStormhold. Being tired before I start or not having eaten are the 2 reasons generally I have a bad run.

Intervals today. Was freezing and super windy. As usual first 2 felt grim but got into them. My favourite is the lovely slow jog home Smile

Thank you both. I was thrown as it’s the first bad one. I hadn’t slept well and have had the vaccine recently so maybe that. I’ll try again on Friday morning. Thank you!

Purpleraindeer · 08/04/2021 07:01

@QuentininQuarantino - I had a terrible run the day after the vaccine and I know lots of others have too

Doublethecuddles · 08/04/2021 11:27

Had a run along the beach this morning and it was incredibly windy, I beautifully exfoliated now! A wooodland run yesterday.
QuentininQuarantio you will get the odd bad day, it just put in behind you and know the next will be better.

Two runs to add so far this week, both a bit shorter than usual as I was pushed for time on one day, and had DS with me on his bike on the other. I’m going to do a very short one tomorrow to introduce the extra day and make the distance up.

Today’s run was a mixture of hilarious and frustrating, DS took off on his bike like a rocket to start with and I could barely keep up. Then he gradually ran out of steam until we were only just going above a brisk walking pace! He did really well on all the twisty paths through the woods though and my foot barely complained so it’s all good. Here he is, going for it!

@QuentininQuarantino Sometimes you just have a crap one for no good reason you can put your finger on. Makes the good ones stand out more though.

32 miles to add from me. Monday and Tuesday intervals, Wednesday and Thursday trails. Rest day tomorrow. I’m on holiday this week so plenty of free time for a change and discovered more new routes.

@QuentininQuarantino I think everyone can identify with rubbish runs. Sometimes for no reason and other times slightly under the weather. Hopefully the next one will be fine.

QuentininQuarantino · 08/04/2021 16:14

Thank you, I’ve just managed 4K and struggled but maintained a good pace, and I would not have had the courage to go back out if not for the reassurance!

Amaura · 08/04/2021 21:35

I’m enjoying recovery week. Currently do three weeks high, one week low and have combined with my period week which works out nicely.

Two recovery runs plus a gentle reintroduction to hill intervals (14.5 miles)

I’d say once a fortnight I go out and just turn around early or before I’ve got to the end of the road. I know they say you never regret a run, but I’d rather not injure myself and trust my body. Admittedly sometimes you do have to push through and it’s tricky to read it right

I had a couple of weeks in December of low energy runs, where I'd get half way through then walk. I think it just happens! Go with the flow is always my advice.

My knee is getting better but still not 100% if I go over 4 miles. But 4 x 3.5 miles a week seems to be ok. Weird. I'll stick with this but aim on getting faster, and hopefully can increase the distance v slowly...

Anyway...

Introduced a fourth run into the week this morning with a steady 1.5 miles. Few grumbles from The Grumbly Foot but nothing to write home about - I think it’s sulking about the speeds I was having to put on to keep up with DS on his bike yesterday...! Physio again next week.

That was my run on Tuesday for sure, absolutely nothing in the tank at all.

I've had this week off, and quite frankly feel like asking for a refund. Spent Tuesday afternoon in hospital getting 10 stitches in my leg, all Wednesday evening in A&E with DS1 who has cellulitis, back again for 4 hours on Thursday morning.

Oh well, at least he is on the mend and I can chill out today now that I have run with the dogs this morning. Just a gentle 6km so as not to stretch my stitches.

What a week @Iamblossom! Glad Ds is getting better, take it easy on that leg!
I have just been knackered this week so skipped my run yesterday; I have next week off so get a break then.

A great run this morning, with virtually no wind.

Purpleraindeer · 09/04/2021 18:48

@Spudlet my ds does runs like that. It’s like sprint training! I quite enjoy it though - half sprint, half walk and a snack stop half way Smile

Hill reps today. Was 16 short ones rather than the longer ones. Honestly doing anything 16 times just feels mentally like hard work. Got it done though so felt a nice sense of achievement afterwards.

IRun4Me · 09/04/2021 18:55

I definitely have good and bad runs
lamblossom I hope you and your DS are on the mend.
Had the first evening social for months (outside and socially distanced obviously) so felt like I was sweating out wine this morning- sorry not a pleasant thought Grin

Lovely cold frosty run, needed gloves this morning. Ran well and got a new 10 km PB.

Hilly 4 miles, set off fast and carried on, regretted that on the inclines 😂

Well done @Doublethecuddles!

@IRun4Me given the temperature I’d have thought a lot of booze would be required to handle an evening outside!

10m today - was damp and grey so glad to get it done and get in the warm. Have a sore hip so physio on Monday. Hopefully she can do some magic and fix it

@Doublethecuddles well done on the new PB

More sunshine today @PaddingtonPaddington; it’s very cold though if that helps!
Lacking a bit of motivation this week - it was a busy week at work so quite tired and I’m off next week, so maybe it’s just that ending down feeling. So pushed myself out the door, beautiful morning, did a nice steady short run while listening to a very interesting podcast about breathing. Have come home determined to improve my breathing during running!
