You’ll be glad you got your run in before 3 hours in front of a screen!

I woke up to a good few inches this morning (ooer! Grin)

Theonlyoneiknow · 10/02/2022 10:41

Well done Amura ! That's brilliant!

Must get out before the weather turns!

Mostlyjustrunning · 11/02/2022 15:56

A bit icy this morning but just over 5km up a wee local hill - I love to run on the bike trails (not official ones and very quiet)

Nice steady run in wind & rain today - actually enjoyed it! Now Ds is making me breakfast then we’re off to marshal at parkrun

I have great envy for people who can run first thing in the morning!

10 miles yesterday, felt really sluggish however but it was a really lovely day to be out!

I just find it easier to go first thing; if I wait till eve I g I’m too tired and can’t be bothered!

Steady run this morning, grey but mild, still windy!

I prefer running in the mornings too - lockdown was great for getting up, breakfast and out before anyone else got going.

9 miles today, started tipping down about halfway so returned home wet and muddy but it wasn't cold so quite enjoyable!

Has anyone looked at Comrades and been tempted or am I crazy for even considering it?!! It's my 50th birthday this summer and I feel like ripping off my comfort blanket :-D Partner is very supportive if I want to go but with the 12hr cut off it's a big risk!

emummy · 13/02/2022 16:26

I think Comrades would be amazing; the videos online of the start are exciting. And yes, the cut off is a risk but challenges are more exciting when you don’t know how it’ll go! If you can afford it and you have the time to train properly for it, why not. And if you don’t make the cut off you’ve still had the experience.

Comrades would be an amazing experience! I used to live in Southern Africa so I would love to go back.

emummy · 15/02/2022 07:32

Hill reps in the pouring rain this morning; tested out waterproof leggings and they worked really well. Fun moment when the street lights all went off early, good thing I had my head torch!

crikey emummy what time was that if you were wearing a head torch! Kudos! :)

DH is from south africa mostlyjustrunning . We went once for a holiday pre-kids. If I did go though I would probably go on a sports tour as would be travelling solo. Although I have travelled long haul for races on my own before I think it would be easier to have the logistics all pre-arranged for this one (if I do decide to go, I keep changing my mind!)

Mostlyjustrunning · 15/02/2022 11:35

Oh you definitely should! I might starting thinking for my 50th ( not THAT close but close enough 😆)

@emummy which waterproof trousers do you have?

emummy · 15/02/2022 11:53

It was about 6:45; think it was darker because of the rain!
I have a pair of Inov-8 waterproof trousers; got them for the ultra but didn’t need them. They’re nice and light, not sure I would wear them for a very long run, although I might if it was a cold wet day. I think it’s the Trail pant ones, they’re quite expensive, think I found an offer somewhere.

Nice lunch run for me, weather was really nice - cold but blue skies and sunshine!

IRun4Me · 16/02/2022 07:40

You lot are very hardcore with ultras etc. Well done I’m very impressed. A marathon for my 50th (well just before) was enough for me.
A couple of runs to add. Fed up with battling constant wind, sometimes it feels so strong I can hardly breathe.

Can I join in?

emummy · 16/02/2022 09:37

Please do @giraffeski!

Welcome @giraffeski Smile
thanks @emummy - I have some cheap higher state ones which I bought for mandatory kit too! I’ve only worn them once.

@IRun4Me it’s been so windy! We are missing the storms this time I think.

Mostlyjustrunning · 16/02/2022 11:33

Almost forgot to add my miles. I now have kids off with covid so basically keeping runs easy while waiting to catch it!

giraffeski · 16/02/2022 21:28

I have three runs to add then this week so far
Sunday 20 miles off road down the Gritstone trail in absolutely shocking conditions
Club run last night 6 miles easy and then another 5.5 steady miles today- weather was absolutely fine all day and then the moment I stepped out for my bloody run the heavens totally opened

266.7

Mostlyjustrunning · 16/02/2022 21:52

Lots of lovely miles @giraffeski Grin

emummy · 17/02/2022 10:07

@giraffeski I had a similar experience this morning- started in sun, then horizontal snow, horrible & stingy! Then back to sun, was totally frozen when I got home.
