UnaOfStormhold I’m nearly at Glasgow. I only count my runs for that one. I’m also doing Route 66 which I count runs and bike rides as it’s 2000 miles

UnaOfStormhold · 03/04/2021 15:38

@Irunforme you are definitely getting to the beautiful bit - I'd sort of given up on motorway screenshots but they have been much more worth looking at since Loch Lomond! I started Lejog in September a few weeks after finishing C25k and definitely wasn't getting in enough running miles at the time, but I am doing more than double now so it should work out. I don't cycle much at the moment so I decided Route 66 would be a bit too much, maybe next year if I manage to keep increasing my mileage!

Amaura · 03/04/2021 17:39

7.6 miles today. Just randomly felt good so kept picking up the pace meaning I did the last 5km in 22.5 mins. Was a very pleasant surprise but still won’t be pushing speed for a while yet.

5 miles of more trails yesterday. Rest day eating Easter eggs today!

Nice work @Amaura, 22 minutes for 5k is fantasy speed for me!
Nice steady half-marathon run for me, didn’t push pace, just enjoyed the countryside. Now for chocolate!

3 miles to add for me from Thursday and 5 miles today. The Grumbly Foot made its presence felt on Thursday so today I jeffed my run at 2 minds running to 1.30 walking. It did seem to help manage the grumbles so I might stick with jeffing for a few weeks with the possibility of jeffing the marathon too - I’ll have to see how things go. I must admit that it did make for a lovely relaxed run this morning though.

@Amaura 5k in 22 minutes - bloody hell woman, that’s like superhero speeds to me! 😯

Iamblossom · 04/04/2021 13:04

@amaura bloody hell that is super speedy. My fastest ever was 27 something.

6 miles to add from this morning, a slow plod with my friend. I am weary from running this week, 41km, the most ever.

Wow that's fast !
My PB is 31 minutes.
I'm doing half marathon training and those of you who run these distances make it sound so easy but I'm not feeling it's going to be for me !

IRun4Me · 04/04/2021 17:58

I think I’d die if I did a 5k in 22 minutes. Well done amaura
schoolcook you will get there and be proud of yourself when you do. I have run a few half marathons but I have to say my preferred distance is between 6 - 10 miles. I’m definitely not one of those people who goes - I think I’ll just do a half marathon today!!
Nice run this morning. The child was at sports training so I enjoyed the different scenery

Amaura · 04/04/2021 18:28

Sounds like there has been some good trail running this weekend

@schoolcook it’s not easy for anyone (it never gets easy, you just accept it quicker). For me good runs, where it all clicks and feels nice, come about once a month 😂

Thanks all, it was a genuine surprise as I really have been Mrs 9:30 min/mile for nearly all my runs. What’s even nicer is my leg doesn’t hurt today.

Did a 19 mile walk with DD so absolutely knackered but nothing to add to the total. Recovery week thankfully beckons.

schoolcook · 04/04/2021 18:47

Ah that's good to hear thanks both !

Purpleraindeer · 04/04/2021 18:48

Happy Easter!
Reporting a 4m yesterday and 21m today. Normally do my long runs with a friend and This was on my own so felt a bit harder, but good to know I can.

@IRun4Me - 6-10m may be your sweet spot distance now but you might find it gets longer as you get comfortable with the distance.

@Amaura - that is a fast 5k especially as part of a run. I wonder what you could do if you properly focussed on it? I guess you’re proof that easy running does really help if you’ve been doing lots of runs at 9.30min mile. That’s my automatic pace too!

IRun4Me · 04/04/2021 19:08

I doubt it purpleraindeer I’m happy with my shorter runs I don’t have the time or inclination to do long runs regularly. I did a marathon 3 years ago and that was fine. I’m really quite happy with my hour out with the dog away from the world. Especially the older I get!! Grin

50FootWave · 05/04/2021 09:35

Morning everyone. Logging 7.5 miles over two runs since Saturday - hoping my knee can handle the extra run + extra mile this week!

Lovely weather and relaxing last few days - hope everyone is enjoying the break/chocolate.

Did a few hill repeats towards my club challenge - feeling my legs today!

A freezing cold short windy run this morning and a much warmer run on Saturday.

Chilly run in the snow this morning, the weather forecast promises it’ll be gone by lunchtime so here’s hoping.

Cold run which seemed to have a headwind all the way. But the sun was shining.
Come back spring!!

8 miles this morning. Weather was truly stupendous, and I was really looking forward to it, but for some reason it was probably the hardest run I have done in years. Hmm. Felt like I had nothing in the tank at all, and even stopped after the planned 13km even though I was a km from home, and I never do that.

Lack of carbs yesterday maybe? Legs still tired from all the running last week?

Will have a couple of days off now, as having more of my leg cut and stitches out in today, so will see how my next one goes.

Purpleraindeer · 06/04/2021 13:23

Yikes @Iamblossom your leg sounds a bit painful. Hope it goes ok.

Really struggled to get out the door today as felt a bit tired. But was a lovely (if a bit cold) run with almost wintery sunshine. Was glad I got out in the end but am wondering whether I’ve now just stored up more tiredness for tomorrow.

Iamblossom · 06/04/2021 13:25

Thanks purplereindeer, it's a mole I had cut out a few weeks ago that they now want to cut a bit more of the skin around it off, which is a bit annoying. But better to be thorough.

Doublethecuddles · 06/04/2021 18:45

lamblossom hope your operation goes well and you are back running soon.

A cold run this morning, wish I had taken my gloves!

QuentininQuarantino · 07/04/2021 16:04

Hello, I hope you don’t mind me popping on to ask a question of more experienced runners. I’m new to running, two months in, and have been loving it. Worked up to being able to do 5k easily and a 10K at a push on a Sunday in an okay time (1.09).

I’ve just had to abort a run at 2.5k which I was practically walking. I’m shocked as u was doing really well and have my eye on a half marathon at Xmas time! I didn’t feel sluggish or anything, but just sort of conked out!

How often does this happen to you? How do you come back from it?

UnaOfStormhold · 07/04/2021 17:34

It's normal for some runs just not to be right - could be an illness coming on, tiredness from a previous run, nutrition or hydration not right, time of the month or a combination of these. I wouldn't worry about it, just go out again and see what happens.
