Last thread is nearly full so here is a new one.
All runners are welcome, regardless of age, experience, speed, distance etc. Just join in and chat about all things running.
The numbers in bold at the bottom of posts are the total we have run together that month, so just add your numbers as you go.

Addition however clearly requires some further work.

Feel rather relieved it's not just me that can have a hangover on a Saturday run. Friday night is my favourite time of the week and I usually get a bit carried away with the booze and forget to eat dinner, so Saturday's run is usually a bit of an exercise in self flagellation!

Hmm, marathon training you say, might take a look at this.... Need some structure to my running I think...

Purpleraindeer · 28/03/2021 16:05

Lots of good running on here!
Was it @Spudlet who asked re adding days running? You could keep your mileage the same and just add another day to see how you get on and then build miles from there? I went from 3dpw in December to 5dpw now just gradually adding with most of my miles very easy.

15m for me today. Was supposed to be 13 but we took a few wrong turns. Was quite the mission by the end of it. But have just done my biggest ever mileage week 45miles! Am pleased with that Smile

I think slightly hungover Saturday runs are a bit like altitude training. If we can do that, then imagine race day already pre hydrated, we’re bound to fly along.

Nice one @Purpleraindeer.

10 mile walk and a 10 mile run today.

Well done @UnaOfStormhold!

Sorry @UnaOfStormhold missed your achievement (my working memory is shocking). Well done, you’ll be addicted now. That distance is a lovely one to knock out every few weekends

UnaOfStormhold · 28/03/2021 22:28

Hmm, right now never moving again is very tempting. But once my legs unseize I suspect I will be out there again!

Iamblossom · 29/03/2021 10:21

Yes @UnaOfStormhold I am very impressed, I can't imagine getting to anything over 10 miles at this point, and 10 is my next target.

UnaOfStormhold · 29/03/2021 10:46

@Iamblossom I am sure you will manage 10 miles and be looking beyond before you know it (only need to an extra 5k to make it a half!)

Doublethecuddles · 29/03/2021 11:58

Well done UnaOfStormhold

I have completed my 200km March Strava challenge. Would never choose to run in a gale this morning but I have 4km left to do and wanted in done, ended up doing 4 1/2 miles.Off for a walk and chips with my DD.

Definitely add your miles @schoolcook, all welcome!
Day off today so took myself off into the Cairngorms to run around Loch Muick. Absolutely gorgeous, no one around for most of it. Herds of deer, eagles, rabbits and lapwings all made an appearance and I ran through the grounds of a house Queen Victoria had built for overnight trips from Balmoral. Really lovely, especially enjoyed the stepping stones to get around the head of the loch!

10.128 miles run this morning (the 128 is obviously very important Grin).

Very pleased with myself.

12 miles is next milestone.

Veeeeery slow 2.8 miles done this morning with DS on his bike - he has bursts of speed then stops to look at something interesting, or runs out of steam and starts shouting for a ‘turbo boost’ (a shove!). Bit frustrating at times but good fun and probably good that it was a slow and steady (probably at least as much walking as running tbh) as The Grumbly Foot was in a sulky mood and kept complaining, much like a teenager unearthed from their bed before 1pm. Maybe that’s it, my foot is ageing in reverse and has hit about 15 or so? 🤔 It seems to approve of moving at 5 year old on a pushbike speed though.

Hi
Can I join you over here?
I completed C25K earlier this month and now trying to run a bit further and faster and keep the momentum going.
I'm never going to be a marathon runner but I just want to get better at what I'm doing and not lose motivation.

Spudlet · 30/03/2021 16:32

@emummy Those pictures - I am GREEN with envy! Every run must feel like such an adventure there!

@WhereAreWeNow Hello and welcome! Be careful what you say, I said I’d never run a marathon too once. Mind you, I still haven’t yet...Grin

schoolcook · 30/03/2021 19:21

Thanks to those who said about adding my mileage but since doing C25K my brain is broken and only works in km so I'll keep reading in awe Grin

WhereAreWeNow · 30/03/2021 19:46

Thanks @Spudlet Smile No, seriously, I really don't see myself ever doing 10k let alone a marathon! I did 6k at the weekend but I think that might be about my limit!

Amaura · 30/03/2021 19:49

How lovely @emummy. I can’t wait until I’m allowed to travel up and get some mountain days in. My Snowdonia trail marathon has just been postponed another year.

8 summer feeling miles this evening

Me too, I have to ask Alexa to convert my runs into miles just for this thread!!
Purpleraindeer · 30/03/2021 20:44

Welcome @schoolcook and @WhereAreWeNow - this is a lovely positive thread!

@Spudlet - I now have a slightly grumbly ankle. It’s annoying so I feel for you with your foot.

5 lovely easy miles for me today. Watch ran out of battery after 1min but it recorded that as me running at 4.5min miles! Clearly data error as I’ll never see that pace Smile
The sun felt warm even at 7.30am today. Was a treat.

WhereAreWeNow · 30/03/2021 21:08

This is probably a daft question but what are the numbers at the end of posts?

schoolcook · 30/03/2021 21:21

Glad it's not just me !
Thanks fir the welcome.

Amaura · 30/03/2021 22:32

We have a collective running total each month (in miles). So if I do a 5km run I’ll look at the last total and add 3.1 miles to it

And welcome, we have a wide range of runners here but each mile is treated equally
