Can we make a Les Mills on demand thread?

I'm just wondering if others are using Les Mills on demand and if we could maybe check in with each other to discuss what we are doing and what our goals are etc?

I am trying to loose 1 stone and doing 5:2 but i eat too much on my non-fasting days so I don't really loose any weight, so I'm adding exercise in the hope of shifting some weight Smile

So far I have done bodycombat 3 times this week for about half an hour each and some weights and flexibility training, but I think from next week I will be adding in bodypump

Is anyone else using this? I am really enjoying it so far Smile

How hard is Sh'Bam to pick up? I go to the local gym for Body Balance and Zumba, my guilty pleasure/one true exercise love. I'm toying with getting LMOD for the Body Balance but a quick look at the Sh'Bam preview sent me into a wobble of middle-aged panic.

And my knees aren't up to the Body Blitz/Attack/Nuclear Strike classes.

flouncy - I don't know why that is? I'm still on the free trial bit and have access to all the workouts, hundreds of them. Maybe pop on the facebook page and ask there, lots of knowledgeable people on there. Have a browse while you're on their, lots of people on their weightloss journeys and have had great success.

flouncymcflouncerson · 06/06/2020 23:34

@nbee maybe I need to have another scout around the app. I’ve requested to join the Facebook group, thanks for the link.

nbee84 · 06/06/2020 23:49

Flouncy - I wonder whether you have signed up to the free trial properly? If you had you would automatically be in the facebook page. There is a set of programmes Les Mills have released for free whilst gyms are closed here but it's not the same as signing up for a free trial. At the bottom of that page is a link to click to access the free trial.

FashionFoodLaughs · 07/06/2020 07:39

@ShaniaPayne Sh’bam is so much fine like a funkier version of Zumba. Some of the remix ones they’ve released are awesome, I think there’s one called Party Bangers that. Is so good.

flouncymcflouncerson · 07/06/2020 08:27

@nbee84 just checked my account and I’m definitely signed up. It’s a 60 day free trial and showing the monthly cost from July with my card details. I can see lots more now when I log in but requested to join the Facebook page last night. Will go check and see if I’m in yet!

I need to try this! I've been running during lockdown but I need a home work out. Used to do GRIT, body pump and CORE at the gym.

How do I get the 3 months trial? I can only see a 2 week one x

flouncymcflouncerson · 07/06/2020 08:29

Still just says pending for both groups. I wasn’t sure which one was right so asked to join the U.K. and the other one!

flouncymcflouncerson · 07/06/2020 09:09

@jelly79 the 2 months was a BlueLightCard offer that I used as I work for the NHS. Not sure what other joining offers or trials they have available.

obviouslymarvellous · 07/06/2020 09:14

Love body combat - been doing it a few years now. Funnily enough in lockdown I've stopped really (weather been good so have been outside working out) I've just been doing lots of variations at home with maybe a couple of tracks I can remember thrown into whatever I can do. I must get back to it especially now it's raining every day! Not much of a fan of sh'bam but I love the rest x

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 07/06/2020 09:17

eastridingleisure.co.uk/lmod/?centre=bridlington

This link will get you a one month trial then a reduced rate afterwards.

NathanNathan · 07/06/2020 09:21

Thanks so much @nbee84 that's super helpful.

I'd never even heard of Les Mills before lockdown. People seem to love it, going to give on demand a go!

jelly79 · 07/06/2020 10:06

Thank you both!!

If I enter the trial can I do it through a smart TV or is it just on the phone?

NathanNathan · 07/06/2020 10:09

Thanks @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa that's great.

@jelly79 as far as I can see you get it on your phone and the man can cast to TV via Chromecast/fire stick/apple TV type things.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 07/06/2020 10:37

Most smart TVs have an app. I have a Firestick and use the app.

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 07/06/2020 11:50

If I enter the trial can I do it through a smart TV or is it just on the phone?

You can also use the website on your laptop. I just open it on my laptop and connect it to the TV with an HDMI.

WelcomeToTheMountaintop · 07/06/2020 12:04

flouncy. You don’t need to do all of a workout. I frequently do 20 mins and then jump to the cooldown. It was a revelation when I realised that (muppet that I am). 🤣

shania I habe all the Grace and coordination of a deckchair and I can do ShBam. The best advice I got was, do the same video several times. In the gym they’d do the same one for weeks, so you can learn it.

The best thing about LMOD is you can pause, rewind, or just doe something else until you can catch up. In Combat, if it’s too hard or I lose my thread i just do squats or a simple punch combo till I work out what to do.

jerometheturnipking · 07/06/2020 12:15

For Pump I use a mixture of 3kg and 5kg dumbbells and a 10kg kettlebell depending on the track. Sometimes when they want you to use a large plate for e.g squat thrusts I stack a 3 and a 5 together. It works well!

flouncymcflouncerson · 07/06/2020 15:27

@WelcomeToTheMountaintop do you know it never occurred to me to pause or fast forward 🙈🙈 I feel super stupid now!

Gonna try another one now, I’ve got it sorted so I’m gonna do another 30 min one I think. Wish me luck!

WelcomeToTheMountaintop · 07/06/2020 17:02

flouncy 🤣🤣🤣

Southeast15 · 07/06/2020 17:28

I’m following this with interest. I kept looking at signing up but really struggle to follow on my iPad.
Does anyone know what app you need to watch it on the TV?I haven’t got a fire stick or similar so can’t go from my phone to TV.
The classes sound really popular and there’s loads of great suggestions of ones to try.

nbee84 · 07/06/2020 17:42

@Southeast15 Do you have a smart tv? I cast direct from my phone to the tv, no firestick. Make sure your tv is switched on and when you open your workout you should get an icon to click to cast it.

Can we make a Les Mills on demand thread?
MozzchopsThirty · 07/06/2020 17:48

Ooh this is great news because when the dcs aren't here I've been doing it on the phone which is ok as I've been doing combat for years but would be a nightmare as a beginner

Southeast15 · 07/06/2020 18:22

@nbee84 thank you so much, I’ll try that.

flatoutpanic · 07/06/2020 18:44

So pleased I spotted this thread; I’ve done a few LM classes on holiday and when I belonged to a gym and loved them.

Signed up to the free trial and did a Body Pump class this afternoon. Just trying to find a barbell and weights online now, everywhere’s sold out! Thanks for the inspiration all.
