Can we make a Les Mills on demand thread?

Upsidedownrightnow · 05/06/2020 14:54

I'm just wondering if others are using Les Mills on demand and if we could maybe check in with each other to discuss what we are doing and what our goals are etc?

I am trying to loose 1 stone and doing 5:2 but i eat too much on my non-fasting days so I don't really loose any weight, so I'm adding exercise in the hope of shifting some weight Smile

So far I have done bodycombat 3 times this week for about half an hour each and some weights and flexibility training, but I think from next week I will be adding in bodypump

Is anyone else using this? I am really enjoying it so far Smile

Did step today! Remembered why I loved it ! But also why I hated it (back pain cuz of the impact so took it slow)

sociallydistained · 05/03/2021 22:12

RPM 86 for me today and BP Arms.

Peachypips78 · 06/03/2021 14:01

Didn't know there was a body pump arms. That will be useful to me while my hip is healing.

Anyone tried barre? What's it like?

sociallydistained · 06/03/2021 20:47

They also have BP upper body which is a bit longer.

Has anybody bought any of the copy Les Mills Smart Bars on eBay? They are always out of stock or on pre-order on the LM website.

Are they reliable? Ones like this? www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20kg-Smart-Barbell-Weights-Body-Pump-Set-like-les-mills/265063808269?hash=item3db708bd0d:g:mTQAAOSwW15fZ7V6

Recovery is still slow from my hip flexor injury. Been feeling pretty good pottering round the house, but went for a walk in the park and after 10 minute I had to sit down as it was hurting too much. Feeling it today.

Its not high cardio (unless you can do the jumps) but it does feel like hard work maintaining the posture and Control. Kind of feels like cxworkz for your butt.

rosettesforjill · 08/03/2021 10:29

Back in the office this week so an early start - I'm doing stronger challenge and did the first Ben Main trainer series. It's been the first one I have been a bit disappointed with as it didn't feel challenging - has anyone else tried it? I did the full versions of everything but it was just a bit... something and nothing.

EasterIssland · 08/03/2021 10:49

I had vaccine on the weekends so I've left arm pain, no body combat for me for a few days... will give a try to step in an hour or so... hopefully I'll be able to do it!

Peachypips78 · 09/03/2021 09:26

Yes punching on a vaccine arm wouldn't be fun! I didn't have mine with that so was lucky.

Today going to take the dog for a nice long walk in the sun and do body pump upper body. It's my first day off without the boys at home and I'm so looking forward to just being by myself.

Did body step beginners yesterday and it was really good- I heeded the warning about coordination and did the beginners to learn the moves. Made life much easier.

sociallydistained · 09/03/2021 09:35

I did The Trip last night and Grit Nano again first thing (quite like that one) followed by a short Sprint on the bike. I am so glad I got the spin bike now, I am really enjoying doing the LM bike workouts and can feel my legs getting stronger already.

Two intense cardio sessions so think Bodypump tomorrow.

Anyone in the Facebook groups?

Peachypips78 · 09/03/2021 17:54

Yes I am. I find them quite motivating.

Me too. Really positive which is unusual for FB 😂 So helpful and knowledgeable about releases too.
Peachypips78 · 09/03/2021 18:44

Yes- and really helpful if you have a question. Nice bunch!

wishywashywoowoo70 · 10/03/2021 08:19

I absolutely hate getting up before I need to. But for a week and a bit now I've been getting up an hour earlier to do combat (cos I love it)
I'd let myself get so overweight and out of shape I was embarrassed to see anyone.

Can feel a difference in myself and I have so much energy. I've gone from waking and dressing to my desk at home to waking doing an hour class putting a wash on getting our first coffee organised and having breakfast before work.

It's been so long since I did attack so I'm working towards that.

Peachypips78 · 10/03/2021 11:40

Are you feeling tired? I want to do this but I'm scared I'm going to get more and more tired. What time do you get up?

nbee84 · 10/03/2021 11:47

I've tried several times over the years to exercise early before going to work. For me this means getting up at 6am. My last try was 2 mornings last week. I'm not a great sleeper at the best of times but knowing I was getting up early made my sleep worse. I also felt sluggish and didn't get the best out of my exercise. Even on non work days I prefer to be up and awake for a good hour before I workout. I'd love to be an early exerciser but I don't think it's for me.

Not at all. Feel much better. I was getting up at 7 having a shower then sitting in bed with a coffee for 20 minutes to start work at 7.50. Now I get out out bed and dressed by 6.45. Do 45 minute combat and maybe 15 minute core. I have loads more energy. I didn't fancy it at all but after a few days of making myself do it it's fine. Once I'm downstairs I'm glad I shifted my arse
MsMartini · 10/03/2021 17:40

Just done Step athletic - thanks to whoever recommended that. I'm hopelessly uncoordinated but got a real buzz when occasionally I was doing something similar to the instructors Smile. Really fun and great workout.

sociallydistained · 10/03/2021 20:29

I’m not an early bird in the slightest but after reading an inspirational book a few years ago I decided to give it a go. I find it much easier when the gyms were open as I booked on a class and then just got up and went and woke up in the car... I didn’t want to have to cancel so always went through with it.

At home I find it harder but I’ve recently started doing it again just twice a week but I have to get up at 5.15 as I have a coffee and wake up for half hour before then start at 5.45. I leave for work at 7.20. As long as I get enough sleep on the other days I can manage twice a week. I really feel good for it and love the fact it’s done and I don’t have to dread a workout after work when I’m done in lol.

ZenNudist · 10/03/2021 20:45

Just seen this suggestion. I am not a home exerciser but used to love combat pump and attack pre dc in my 20s! Toying with the idea of a trial

SmellsLikeAHamsterCage · 10/03/2021 22:27

Might sign up for this. I used to love doing attack, body balance and body step classes at the gym.

What are the step classes like? Are they only the 'athletic' version?
