Can we make a Les Mills on demand thread?

Upsidedownrightnow · 05/06/2020 14:54

I'm just wondering if others are using Les Mills on demand and if we could maybe check in with each other to discuss what we are doing and what our goals are etc?

I am trying to loose 1 stone and doing 5:2 but i eat too much on my non-fasting days so I don't really loose any weight, so I'm adding exercise in the hope of shifting some weight Smile

So far I have done bodycombat 3 times this week for about half an hour each and some weights and flexibility training, but I think from next week I will be adding in bodypump

Is anyone else using this? I am really enjoying it so far Smile

Am a big fan of les mills. Prefer it in a RL group because of the camaraderie, music and my gym has great instructors, but on demand is good too if can’t get outdoors.

I finally broke the exercise drought and did Bodypump 111 (as I predicted!). Is there another release people would recommend with as good music as this one?

@jerometheturnipking Marlon is great isn't he? Very entertaining and motivating.

I've been using this since lockdown

Love body combat 66 and 78
Usually do the 45 min classes online if stuck for time.
I've done some weights at home but don't have a bar for pump

Greenteandchives - I do it in the living room in front of the big tv too. I push back a chair and a footstool to give me a bit more room. I do some of the moves on the spot or take smaller steps than I would do if I was in the gym studio. I have to watch where I stand for pump and step so that I don't hit the ceiling lights Grin

jerometheturnipking - I love combat 82, mind you I haven't really found one yet that I don't like but 82 is a fave.

I did combat 82 today too. It's my fave. When Rachel yells 'say my name' and 'play with me' I have to sing along. How sad am I?! Blush

Oooh Love this Thread.

I joined the free trial at the start of lockdown, specifically for The Trip, and thought I’d,try combat and Balance for a laugh.

Im now hooked. My sister warned me it was a cult. And she was right. (She has been doing LM at the gym for years, and signed up to LMOD in Marcutoo)

Still love the Trip, 12 is my fAvourute. But I have to be careful with some releases as the give me migraines (#14 ow.ow.ow) does anyone else get that?

I do combat and balance in the garden, and I started pump last week for the first time. I don’t have weights, but use soup cans and milk bottles. Seems to be working ok so far.

Im looking to graduate from Pump Basics, what’s everyone’s favourite release? 106 seems popular on the Facebook pages.

We have a ceiling fan. I had it switched on for The Trip. Top tip, don’t do a yoga cooldown UNDER a fan.

If the music on OD is the same as real life, then I love 109

I was a regular body pumper pre Covid 😢, how much is the on demand?Do you think you can adapt the pump session as I do not have any weights at home but could maybe adapt something!

I joined LMOD for the free trial and have been totally hooked ever since. I usually do the Attack, Combat and Step workouts (haven't quite been brave enough to try any of the Hiit classes yet). I don't think I'll go back to my pure gym classes as I find I'm getting a lot more out of Les Mills and it cost less per month. If I'm feeling a bit tired I'll sometimes shove on a 20 min cardio blast but once I've finished that I'm usually in the mood to shove on another 20/30 min class.

I’ve subscribed, but it won’t play on my so called smart TV and the only other device I have is a phone, which doesn’t really work in terms of being able to see it and follow the workout.😖. I was so looking forward to this as I love combat and attack at the gym.

I didn't have much luck with my smart tv either. I use the casting feature on my phone to cast to the tv - never had any problems with that.

Pump - I much prefer the real music that they play in the gyms but understand that ppl licensing means that have to use cover music. Once you can get over that I like remix #03, particularly the triceps and shoulder tracks. Quite like 112 as well.

Signed up to LMOD yesterday too, I’m really impressed at how many classes they have. I usually do combat, pump and balance at the gym but look forward to trying the others especially the one with the step. I’m not sure about returning to gym even when it reopens, Les Mills classes usually get booked up within 2 minutes of release under normal circumstances, so it’s going to be impossible if numbers are restricted.

Is the smart barbell worth it? I’m so tempted but it’s a bit pricy. I’m not sure whether to buy the smart barbell or a spin bike. Barbells seem to be out of stock everywhere.
Has anyone seen any?

Big fat picnic and nbee84 I had the same issue too, so just put the phone on the charger and mirror it on the Tv

Sorry if this has already been covered, but is there a lot of equipment needed for this?

Report
nbee84 · 06/06/2020 22:56

Shopaholic100 - yes, that's what I do mirror/cast it to the tv.

Nathan - there's loads of workouts that can be done with no equipment at all; combat, attack, balance, grit cardio, sh'bam. Barre uses hand weights in some tracks but they are still good to do without. Cxworx uses hand weights and a smart band (I use ones like <a class="break-all" href="https://smile.[[//amazon.co.uk/Basic-Model-Resistance-Exercise-Training/dp/B087PQQL7N/ref=sr_1_16?dchild=1&s=sports&crid=1R6C3CY82P392&keywords=resistance%20bands&sprefix=resist%2Csports%2C156&qid=1591480378&sr=1-16&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">https://amazon.co.uk/Basic-Model-Resistance-Exercise-Training/dp/B087PQQL7N/ref=sr_1_16?crid=1R6C3CY82P392&dchild=1&keywords=resistance%20bands&qid=1591480378&s=sports&sprefix=resist%2Csports%2C156&sr=1-16&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21 this]] but again can be done without. Pump, grit strength and plyo use a combination of hand weights and a bar, you can do the workouts with just hand weights. Pump and step both use a step - for pump you can get away without a step.

There’s a video called No Equipment, No Problem. They go through all the ways you can do stuff with no gear. In all honesty, you can do pretty much everything except the cycling based ones.

Pump works fine with improvised weights.

Oh my god I’m so glad I found this thread, I had no idea this was a thing and I’ve been missing combat and pump so much!

What do you all use for weights for pump? We don’t own any so I’d need to buy some and would rather invest in a decent set as work have said they won’t be renewing our gym memberships due to people not being in the office (next door to the gym). Also space is a slight issue in our flat so something I can pack away into a cupboard would be great

Happy to see this thread. I’m very overweight but trying my best to lose it. I’ve lost 1st5lbs so far and signed up to Les Mills just this week on a free trial. I can’t see many videos so far but wonder if that’s just because it’s a trial? So far all I’ve tried is body combat, did the training videos and the 3rd one was a bit of a killer...28mins I think? Not sure how I’ll cope with a 45 minute one! I did t know there was a Facebook book so I’ll go have a look.
