Morning all!
I covered my first 5k today 😁😁. It included my 5 mins warm up and 5 mins warm down. Am on W5R1, but kept going at the end and then walked a bit extra too - took 39 mins. Feel super proud.

titsbumfannythelot · 17/06/2020 13:59

Hello strangers. I haven't ran for a good few weeks due to injury, however, I've been walking at least 5k every other day for the past week so I have decided that I'm going to brave a wee run again. I will admit to being very nervous about that though. My last run was week 6 run 2, anyone that's had to go back, how far did you go? I'm thinking week 3 or 4.

stargirl1701 · 17/06/2020 14:11

I managed Week 8, Run 1 yesterday. I used Strava for the first time. I walked and ran 3.48km (5/28/5). Can't see me doing a 5K in 30 mins anytime soon!

choc27 · 17/06/2020 14:20

Well done @mama4321 it's so good you can do 3 times a week. I'm going to build back up to that I hope. Went out again today, did better than last time so hopefully will Continue to do more until I'm back where I was!

NoTeaForMe · 17/06/2020 15:08

I have one more run on C25K left. Still nowhere near the 5k and think I’m a long way off. But I have ran 4k without stopping now and I’m super proud of myself for that! Took just over 30mins though!
Hope all of you that are injured are starting to feel better.

TryingToBeBold · 17/06/2020 16:10

@Murmurur exactly that. Just getting out of the door is progress!

TryingToBeBold · 17/06/2020 16:11

@NoTeaForMe @stargirl1701 I've done 5 k 4 times and I've only just got under 40mins. Don't worry about the 30a

ThickFast · 17/06/2020 16:20

@TryingToBeBold I also have what I think is a shin splint. Inside lower leg. Around ankle. I completed the C25k plus one run before having to take a break. Took a week off which was so disappointing. Back to running but only 15 mins. It’s still a bit sore but not painful. Its so crap

TryingToBeBold · 17/06/2020 16:52

@thickfast mine is mid calf/shin. Inside of my leg. Literally feels in between the bone and muscle. Very deep.
Please rest a bit more if it's still niggling.
Mine is only tender when pressed so definitely healing.

ThickFast · 17/06/2020 16:59

That’s great it’s healing trying. I’m going to get proper gait analysis now shops are back open. I didn’t realise you’re supposed to buy trainers a size bigger and mine do press slightly on my little toes. I still get a bit confused as to whether I have to wait until there is zero pain or if I can run when I can still feel it. So I’m giving it a go with a bit of running but keeping it very slow and not pushing it. Hopefully that’ll be enough. Also doing some strengthening exercises but they are so unbearably dull.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 17/06/2020 18:00

Hooray @PrincessWatermelon! Well done you. It’s such a great feeling. Smile

TryingToBeBold · 17/06/2020 20:08

@thickfast I ran on them for a number of weeks so I'll wait till mine are gone completely. Was a bit paranoid I'd make it even worse

Sexnotgender · 17/06/2020 20:11

W3R2 done. Got a stitch halfway through but plugged on anyway. Wasn’t my most fun run ever.

mumto2unicorns · 17/06/2020 20:15

Just found this thread while looking for inspiration. I just completed w2r3 today. So proud of myself for getting this far and actually looking forward to going out. Think it's because it's a way to get out the house by myself and leave the kids with dad. Lockdown is having some positive effect

TryingToBeBold · 17/06/2020 20:37

@mumto2unicorns welcome! I hope this thread does inspire you!

@Sexnotgender I know they say to slow down but run through a stitch.. but God that's hard.. well done

GuyFawkesDay · 17/06/2020 20:58

Hello!! I love this thread. Full of women lifting each other up 💕

I know what you mean @TryingToBeBold. Mine only hurt a bit for about three runs. Never bad enough for painkillers. But I am wondering if I should just stop completely for another week. But I just don’t want to lose all my fitness. And they’re not getting worse now I’ve cut my runs to only 15 mins. I can’t feel them while walking. I don’t know. I guess I’m trying to justify it to myself that a 15 min run is ok. How long do you reckon you’ll have off? It’s so frustrating isn’t it?

Slowturtle · 17/06/2020 21:39

Have you tried KT/sports tape? I had really bad shin splints a few years ago and could barely walk. A sports physio showed me how to tape them along with some stretches and it really really helped. There's loads of YouTube videos showing you how.
Alamindah · 18/06/2020 07:30

Still felt a bit rubbish from my migraine yesterday, so didn't go yesterday and it's pouring this morning. I hope I can remember how to do it when I eventually venture out!

NCTDN · 18/06/2020 07:56

@Stopthehop I also did week5 run 2 yesterday. Amazed myself that I could run for 8 minutes without stoppingSmile

NCTDN · 18/06/2020 07:57

Pressed send too soon. I also tend to give up at this point so I'm hoping that this thread will spur me on Wink

Turniptracker · 18/06/2020 08:06

I've lost all my mojo for ruining for some reason. Before, I was excited to push myself and get out there for the next challenge but for some reason my last run (w7r3) was a bit meh and I've lost all interest :(

ThickFast · 18/06/2020 08:22

@Slowturtle I’ve seen that. Not tried it though. I’ll have another look into it.

ThickFast · 18/06/2020 08:23

@Turniptracker I think that’s really common according to a running fb group I’m on. Just do it anyway and hopefully the joy will come back.

Cmini · 18/06/2020 08:29

Delurking after completing week 5. I've never been able to run any kind of distance and have stop-started C25K so many times over the years. I've never got beyond week 4! Did my 20 minutes yesterday and I'm so proud of myself-I needed to share with people who get it! My mindset feels totally different this time. Definitely agree with @mumto2unicorns that getting out and having a bit of time to myself is a great motivator at the moment! For me a good audiobook keeps me going. It distracts me from obsessing over how far I've got to go and gets me out of the door so I can listen to the next bit.
