Yay! I did two of my K under 7 minutes!

JonHammIsMyJamm · 12/06/2020 08:30

I’m like a t-Rex crossed with Mr Blobby (don’t bend down in case your head falls off!). Hmm. I look a right tit

choc27 · 12/06/2020 08:34

Wow so many of us with injuries. I hope after resting we haven't lost our progress. I'm desperate to get back to it!

Stopthehop · 12/06/2020 08:44

Just done wk 5 run 1, It was much better today then last time I think I must have just been having a bad day last time.

Sexnotgender · 12/06/2020 09:11

Ouch @JonHammIsMyJamm that sounds painful. I did something similar a couple years ago. Took me about 4 days to feel ok, I couldn’t even dress myself!

imamearcat · 12/06/2020 09:22

@Sunshineandflipflops the 10K included 5 min warm up walk and then at about 4k I walked for 2 minutes but ran all the way apart from that. Did it in 1hr 8mins.

I'll have the weekend off now. I think I'm going to try and run the whole 10K on fresh legs on Monday. 💪

Sorry so many of you are injured.Sad

TryingToBeBold · 12/06/2020 09:37

Who else had shin splints on here? How are you doing?

Although I'm worried about fitness.. I also now know I can do 5k so I have no excuses If that makes sense?
And I'm not running a random route. I know where 1km is. So I'm confident I can progress quick when I've healed.

@Alamindah under 7 mins for 1k is great!! My quickest is 7:17 I think but now I'm pacing myself so they're a lot slower. Quickest since is 7:30 or so.

@Stopthehop bad days happen. It's getting past them that shows your progress!

Love to my fellow injured Flowers

JonHammIsMyJamm · 12/06/2020 09:42

It’s awful, @Sexnotgender. I don’t know how I’ve done it. I can’t pinpoint a particular moment. Hopefully it’ll ease off in a couple of days, going by your history.

Sexnotgender · 12/06/2020 10:04

You haven’t necessarily done anything JonHamm I woke up with mine. If you haven’t already look up Wry Neck or Torticollis.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 12/06/2020 10:09

It’s definitely something like that, @Sexnotgender

Sunshineandflipflops · 12/06/2020 10:10

@imamearcat excellent time!

JonHammIsMyJamm · 12/06/2020 10:13

The pain is more at the base of my neck though. Very top couple of vertebrae of my thoracic spine/bottom of my c spine. When I attempt to twist my neck the pain moves up my neck but is still mostly focused at the base. You don’t realise how much you move your head in normal daily life until you can’t!

Frouby · 12/06/2020 14:18

Ive just done wk 6 run 3 so 25 mins.

Last few minutes were hard. Was praying for sarah m to come back in and tell me to stop. But I managed it. Me, dd and ds and the dog. It's chaos but we did it.

I've got Under Armour trainers and they are lovely and supportive. I started in adidas sambas and really struggled. Definitely couldn't run in them.

Was really pleased today, said by the end of this I wanted to be able to run round our lake. Smshed it today, all way around and a bit further to keep going the 25 mins! It's not as far round as I thought tho, I thought it was about 4k but it's just under 3k. To do 5k we are going to have to go a different route which is fine tbh.

I've also signed up for The Childrens Society run 50 miles in July. Thought it was 50k (was slightly pissed when I saw it) and then thought 'well, it's just round the lake and a bit more every other day.' And it's actually twice round.

Fook. Got over 100 quid of sponsorship so far as well so really need to make sure I do it.

Something to train for though I suppose. Had a feeling I would be a bit lost once c25k finished.

So need to make sure I run every other day to get my fitness up. And lose some weight. Am a fatty and can't drag 14 stone around.

FloatOn · 12/06/2020 15:21

W3 R3 completed this morning in the passing rain with ds following me round the house on his bike.
Slightly apprehensive about next week after reading some the comments above 🥺
Well got a weekend of relaxation and wine before monday!

RonBurgundyspanpipe · 12/06/2020 15:41

I was just about to ask whether anyone is running in this horrible rain but I see some of you are. I really want to run in the rain but when I open the back door for the dog even she doesn't want to go out! I'm desperately trying to look for an excuse but I think I should just bite the bullet and get wet.

Frouby · 12/06/2020 16:00

@RonBurgundyspanpipe I was glad for the rain half way through. Debated actually not taking the dog as she hates rain (she's a whippet) but she was fine once we were out and moving.

ChanklyBore · 12/06/2020 16:05

I’m on here thinking about running but it’s so wet and crap. So I ate a chocolate bar and now I feel sick

Someone tell me to go. I don’t have the app to make me go any more. This is what I was afraid of!

ChanklyBore · 12/06/2020 16:07

It’s so wet. And the grass is so wet. I’ll have dripping wet feet by the end of the first km. I always thought shoes were meant to be waterproof, turns out that not the case for the majority. Will it matter? How do you deal with wet feet?

imamearcat · 12/06/2020 16:24

It's fine. The grass is always wet when I run in the morning. They feel a bit cold at first but then I dot even notice.

Sexnotgender · 12/06/2020 18:31

What app is everyone using on the Apple Watch? My current one isn’t compatible 😢

GuyFawkesDay · 12/06/2020 19:07

I like running in the rain, my only proviso being a baseball cap.

Tomorrow do I try to go further in my 30 minutes, or do I go slower and try to do 5km....hmmm...

OP posts:
ChanklyBore · 12/06/2020 19:16

I went. I got wet. I don’t like it. My socks were soaked up the ankle with a tide mark and I avoided all grass on purpose. I definitely do notice and spend the run getting annoyed about shoes that aren’t waterproof which is surely one of their basic functions. And cars out splattering me. Never mind. A 33 min 5km which isn’t too shabby but as a bonus, I noticed some shops opening up along my route, I might finally be able to get new shoes.

Hoping all the injured folk aren’t too bad. Must be frustrating

RonBurgundyspanpipe · 12/06/2020 19:38

I went to. Not a good one, only got to twenty minutes and conked out. Shouldn't of had that big dinner as it made me feel quite nauseous which is a first. I'll try again Sunday.

TryingToBeBold · 12/06/2020 20:11

I like the rain once I'm in it. I become so hot that it's a great way of cooling me down. I wear a baseball cap.

Getting out the house to actually run in the rain however ...

@GuyFawkesDay a vote for you to slow, pace yourself and hit 5k!

Greenmum2019 · 12/06/2020 20:54

Hey everyone.... Glad people are still doing this. Sorry for peeps injuries.

I'm on week 9.... Three runs to do.

Altho this week I decided to try a longer run and managed 4k of solid running.
