Back on 30 day shred after years of phoning it in at the gym. Just stepped up to level 2. It’s so hard 😭😭

I've finished too - first time I've ever completed it!

Not sure about the Chloe Madeley - reviews say it's really tough but also really repetitive. I've found Maggie Binkley on Amazon who does 15 min HIIT workouts for all different body parts so may start those.

CalmConfident · 09/05/2020 10:58

L2 D1 done ✅

Had to concentrate on “what next” but was good to have a change. Will know more next time about where to have mat and weights as the mat for cardio caught me out.

OublietteBravo · 09/05/2020 11:15

I finished 30DS this morning.

CalmConfident · 09/05/2020 12:30

Nice work @OublietteBravo 👍🏻

Kangourou · 09/05/2020 13:57

I finished this week too. Still undecided as to what to do next Confused

Todayisanewday75 · 10/05/2020 08:16

Last time I finished the shred I went on to alternating Banish Fat Boost Metabolism and No More Trouble zones (first one is cardio and second is resistance). They’re much longer, I think about 45 minutes and definitely leave you feeling like you’ve worked hard

GeraldTippett · 10/05/2020 08:56

I'm still ploughing my way through L2 of 6W6P. Not my favourite and can't wait till I've "polished that sucker off". Finally managed to do the whole thing without stopping though which is a real boost. But I wasnt going as fast as they were in the 2nd circuit as I was trying to keep my breathing under control and concentrate more on good form.

kangarourou what are you wanting to achieve with your next workout? That should help you decide. I went from Shred to 6W6P as I could see how bad my core weakness was and my stomach is a disgrace. 6W6P definitely helping with that but now I can see I need to concentrate on losing fat so its BFBM for me next, adding in NMTZ twice a week too so I retain some strength.

I'm a bit worried about how I'm going to be able to do all this exercise once lock down ends. I love having an extra 3 hours a day which I would normally spend commuting

Kangourou · 10/05/2020 11:44

@GeraldTippett to be honest I don't really know what I want Grin

I usually swim a lot and really really miss it. The rest of my exercise in normal life is cycling to work, walking with buggy etc. Exercise videos I see as a necessary evil when I can't get out the house to exercise (on my own with a toddler) but I don't enjoy them really.

I think I'd prefer a less frequent but longer session, so rather than half an hour 5-6 times a week, which feels like a huge chore, especially when I'm squeezing it in between childcare and working from home, maybe a programme that involves 1.5 hours 2-3 times a week? Even if it's less effective. Then maybe in a few weeks I'll have the motivation to go back to a daily workout.

Todayisanewday75 · 10/05/2020 14:06

I’d imagine going NMTZ followed by BFBM 2-3 times a week would be pretty effective

GeraldTippett · 10/05/2020 14:34

Yes it sounds like a BFBM + NMTZ combo might fit the bill, @Kangourou. I haven't tried either yet but I gather you can choose which of the 6 or 7 circuits you want per DVD, and mix it up that way so you don't have to do the whole of each DVD which would be a good 2 hours or so

Yesbutno · 10/05/2020 16:43

Just seen I can buy both of those on amazon prime - which should I get or both? They are 40 mins I think - can anyone explain the formats? Do you have to do them every day? Thanks!

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 10/05/2020 17:55

No More Trouble Zones is a really good resistance workout, but it’s too long for me at the moment - I need something DD and I can get done before school and work without fail. We’ve tried Killer Cardio and Lift and Shred over the weekend (both under 30 minutes) and will alternate them over the next few weeks. Lift and Shred is pretty good (fairly basic moves with heavy weights, I need to get some heavier ones), Killer Cardio slightly less so, but the two together should give us a fairly balanced week.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 10/05/2020 17:58

Sorry, yesbutno, I meant to explain the format - NMTZ has a warm up, a cool down and 7 5-minute circuits targeting different muscles. The DVD I have let’s you choose circuits, so you can shorten the workout if you want.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 10/05/2020 17:59

Why does my iPad insist on putting random apostrophes in ‘its’ and ‘lets’?!

Yesbutno · 10/05/2020 21:46

Thanks Professor I'll think about buying it! Had a lazy overeating day today so back on track with something tomorrow!

drspouse · 10/05/2020 22:22

Can I ask if any of these have non-leg cardio options? (Hip injury, I can only walk at the moment)

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 11/05/2020 21:30

Lift & Shred done. I think I need heavier weights, the people in the DVD are using 15lb ones and my heaviest are 5 kg. But I found some 8 kg ones on Amazon and they were stupidly expensive, so I'll have to wait a while.

Drspouse, Killer Cardio wouldn't be any good to you, I'm afraid - there's a lot of jumping and running. I can't immediately think of any of Jillian's that would do the job.

Todayisanewday75 · 12/05/2020 07:56

Drspouse on YouTube Body Project have a couple of workouts that can be done seated. More on their site but not free

CalmConfident · 12/05/2020 08:11

L2 D2 done ✅

Bit easier this time as knew what to expect. Lots more mat work and planks in this one

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 12/05/2020 09:57

Killer Cardio L1 done. Either I'm fitter than I thought or it's relatively easy by JM standards- I suspect the latter! DD was killing it, cardio is obviously dead easy for children.

drspouse · 12/05/2020 11:02

cardio is obviously dead easy for children
A school gate mum who's a GP told me that younger children have different muscle quality so they are basically doing HIIT all the time...

CalmConfident · 13/05/2020 10:24

L2 D3 done ✅

Todayisanewday75 · 13/05/2020 11:18

L2D8 today. Looking forward to doing something different

GeraldTippett · 13/05/2020 16:41

I'd not heard of Killer Cardio but I probably need to work my way through my existing JM dvd stash that haven't yet been opened Blush. I've been getting her older DVDs off ebay for great prices and (ok this is embarrassing) reading old JM shred thread in the Weight Loss and Exercise sections to see how other people got on with them Blush. So I'm a filthy lurker!!

I've done 6W6P L2D10 today so only 5 more to go. I finally feel confident throughout the whole work out which has spurred me in as I hated it at first, being so unco-ordinated and unbalanced. I think a mixture of better strength and familiarity has really improved my form and stamina. That said, I can't wait till I've finished the blasted thing.

Well done to those powering through the Shred. I am almost tempted to go back and revisit the horror show that is Level 2. I suspect that (much like childbirth) I've blocked out the more graphic images and feelings from my mind and I'm looking back at it rather fondly. Level 3 however, I bloody hated. Jillian, I love you, but you can shove your supermans up your bum. A total back killer and the only mercy was that they were right near the start. Couldn't bear the plie hops or the rock stars either. Urgh.

CalmConfident · 13/05/2020 21:18

Been on a run today and felt so strong - definitely seeing a positive effect from shred!
