Back on 30 day shred after years of phoning it in at the gym. Just stepped up to level 2. It’s so hard 😭😭

@AvoidingTheWineAisle we are on the same day now

Kangourou · 30/04/2020 17:27

I should be nearly finished my 30 days but haven't been able to shred since Sunday for a combination of reasons, and had to abort today due to an old knee injury playing up Sad

Hopefully I'll get back to it soon and finish level 3, including everything I've been working towards, full-on Rocky-style sit-ups Grin

Zebrasandfairytales · 30/04/2020 17:57

I started it again a few days after a couple of years off. Stupidly tried Level 2 didn’t I...

“You know those people who tell you if you wanna lose weight just to take the stairs? THEY ARE LYING TO YOU. Its a false lethargy!”

AvoidingTheWineAisle · 30/04/2020 18:33

@CalmConfident - Yes, we can be Shred buddies Grin.

Candlesonthetable · 01/05/2020 07:51

Hurrah, L2D1 done! It was hard, but I'm so glad I pushed through. Not looking forward to 10 days of it though and definitely need to work on doing all the exercises properly.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 01/05/2020 13:10

L3 D5 done here! Beginning to think what to do when we finish it - anyone have any suggestions?

CalmConfident · 01/05/2020 14:13

L1 D5 done ✅

Yesbutno · 01/05/2020 21:26

L3 D4 done...I sound like I'm giving birth doing it but oddly enjoying it. I'm definitely more Anita than Natalie for L3. I'm too looking for ideas of what to do after it's done.

StealthPolarBear · 02/05/2020 08:01

L1D1 done...again

Kangourou · 02/05/2020 10:54

@Yesbutno i sound like I'm in labour too. Wonder if that's what she had in mind when she said she wants us screaming right now Grin

I'll join the request for recommendations for something to do afterwards, though I'll probably have to keep doing level 3 beyond day 10 as I doubt I'll have it 100% mastered in 4 days' time.

CalmConfident · 02/05/2020 12:00

L1 D6 done ✅

GeraldTippett · 02/05/2020 16:32

Yay yay yay, a Shred Thread Smile. I finished 30DS last month and am now on 6 Week 6 Pack. Fuck me, that's a step up. I did the recommended 15 days on Level 1 but never realised how much I loved it till I got to the God-awful Level 2. I've done 2 days and I am all over the place. So so hard. Feel very unco-ordinated and my form suffers trying to keep up but I'm determined to do it. L1 felt very core intensive (obvs) but this level really ramps up the cardio so I think I will really notice a difference at the end. I took before and after photos after L1 and definitely notice a difference. Still got a fat stomach but I can see the muscles lurking under there...

My favourite quote from her is in L1 6W6P where she says "Now this one's a little mean, just know it's for your own good". She sounds so lovely and maternal before she proceeds to completely ruin you Grin

I plan to do 3 days in a row, then one day rest, 3 days then one day rest etc. Then after this one I'll do BFBM and NMTZ together (2 days:1 day) to 'really incinerate the fat' but keep the muscles working and retain strength. I plan to emerge from this lockdown looking fabulous!

CalmConfident · 02/05/2020 18:42

Did you see a difference after 30DS ?

GeraldTippett · 02/05/2020 21:17

Calm I did see a difference but I am doing a 5:2 / 800 cal fast mash up diet also which is important as diet contributes more to slimming than exercise does. More importantly though, I saw a huge difference in my fitness which is helping me to do 6W6P which really IS making a difference to my shape

screamer1 · 02/05/2020 23:51

@GeraldTippett is 6w6p just abs? I'm more about general shreddedness and Bum / thighs tbh.

GeraldTippett · 03/05/2020 08:06

screamer I would say it's an all over workout. L1 definitely concentrates on abs but there's some cardio in there to burn fat. L2 is actually very concentrated on butt and thighs. Lots of squat and lunge moves holding weights. I've done 2 days of it and woken up this morning really feeling it in my butt, thighs and arms. Less so in the core but that could be because after 3 weeks at L1 my body is used to core work

Kangourou · 03/05/2020 11:02

Does anyone know what the difference is between Jillian and Natalie's mountain climber style? Cardio circuit 1 of level 3. Jillian appears to touch the ground with the foot she brings forward, whereas Natalie definitely doesn't. I think Natalie's is easier coordination-wise but tires me out faster. But maybe that's just me.

Plus why the hell do Americans say jumping jacks for star jumps? 😂

Day 7 of level 3 done and I'm still struggling with bits of it...

CalmConfident · 03/05/2020 11:02

@GeraldTippett thanks for the feedback. Agree with the “cannot exercise away a bad diet” thought, 16:8 has been working steadily and well for me in last few months.I do not have scales so will have to wait until post lockdown to see numbers and any increase in muscle mass would be a bonus (use Boditrax at gym) . I am running and cycling too.

GeraldTippett · 03/05/2020 12:29

Calm I really recommend either taking measurements and/or before and after photos. I was really shocked at the visual difference in my torso and thighs and that was just after 3 weeks on L1 (15 sessions). I can't wait to take my L2 photos. Three down, twelve to go! If I'm brave enough I'll post them here. Though that would probably break the internet Blush

GeraldTippett · 03/05/2020 12:30

Sorry the above was re 6W6P not Shred. I didn't take photos for that but the recommendation stands

CalmConfident · 03/05/2020 13:53

I have taken a day 1 photo, going to do one at end of each level 👍🏻

CalmConfident · 03/05/2020 13:53

Looks like 6w6p will be the next one after shred 😊

Todayisanewday75 · 03/05/2020 16:16

I’m going to do 6w6p after the shred too. I want to build up to ripped in 30, I started it earlier this year, level 1 was ok, I worked my way through level 2 but quit after 4 days on level 3.

Mystraightenersarebroken · 04/05/2020 17:36

On L2D6 of 30 Day Shred after a 5 year break. I'm in my 50's and slim but trying to lose a few pounds, get fitter and more toned - especially arms. I'm definitely getting stronger but will I see any change in the appearance of my arms do you think? If not, what should I try? Kettlebells?

I've always wanted toned arms but I'm worried I've left it too late!

Redcrayons · 04/05/2020 17:44

This thread title made me smile Grin

Not shredded for ages. Might have to bust the DVD out if we get another month lockdown.
