Back on 30 day shred after years of phoning it in at the gym. Just stepped up to level 2. It’s so hard 😭😭

Day 3 - 3 mile run and 30DS L3 done!!

Hard work but back to L1 tomorrow for a rest Grin

roonetta · 07/11/2020 15:57

Glad to hear you are feeling a little better Calm ☺️

I hear you cardigans and Algonquin - really didn’t feel like working out today after doing the housework and washing etc. but forced myself to do it and glad I did.

30DS L2 (D11) done ✅

ilovecardigans · 07/11/2020 21:04

Good to hear you've perked up, Calm. You'll be back in the game in no time!

Well done Algonquin & roonetta. You're powering through this!

Feeling much better today, so after a gentle (very cold) 4 mile walk with Mr Cardigans, I did my last 30DS of the week. Yaaay - rest day tomorrow!! 😃

30DS L3 D6 done 👍

roonetta · 08/11/2020 11:41

Well during jumping lunges in L3, something went “TWANG” in my upper back and I had a sharp pain running right around to my ribs. I could barely breathe without a spasm. Stopped for a minute and attempted to continue but it was no good and I had to admit defeat 🙁. I am currently sat on the sofa feeling sorry for myself. I have Googled my symptoms and it looks like an intercostal muscle strain. Says a minor strain can be better in a few days. Will see how I am tomorrow. I am cross with myself now as I don’t want to stop 😡

ilovecardigans · 08/11/2020 13:07

Oh no, roonetta! Sending big (but gentle) healing hugs your way.

I've never done jumping lunges, but when I did 30DS first time round I twanged my right calf muscle doing double jump rope, so I'm always extra cautious in those sections. I'm also a bit wary of the rock star jumps, but I am knocking on a bit so my joints aren't what they were!

Take it easy for the next few days and take some Ibuprofen (if you're allowed to). Hope you're pain free very soon. 💐

AlgonquinBay · 08/11/2020 17:04

Oh no @roonetta hope you're okay and it settles after a few days!! Those jumping lunges are a killer, if I ever pull something it will be whilst I'm doing those.

Day 4 and back to Level 1 for me. Also did a 2 hour walk and some gardening so proper going for it!! Smile

TinyHouseFan · 08/11/2020 22:00

Oh Roonetta, that sounds sore. Plenty of rest for you, by the sounds of it. Hope it heals up quickly.

Cardigans, Alqonquine, you're putting me to shame.. I seem to be able to get it done Monday to Thursday but come Friday, I find every excuse. Nothing done here since Thursday.. but college assignments are done so I have a bit more time this week and have roped in a running buddy so hope that helps.

Managed to gain 5lbs too so have to work that off pretty sharpish

TinyHouseFan · 09/11/2020 09:21

WO11 done, on my last two weeks now and have a virtual 5km this weekend for work too.. Going to try my best food and fitness wise and hopefully be in good shape by the end of the week. Next week is my last week with Jillian's Body Revolution.

My plan for the rest of November... Maybe 30DS again or maybe just keep picking random WOs from BR and trying to keep running till Xmas. Still not sure...

roonetta · 09/11/2020 15:56

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. Did a 5 mile ‘Walk with Leslie’ today but a couple of twinges took my breath away so definitely no Jillian!

Well done Tiny - how did you find WO11? I thought it was the hardest one. It’s so motivating when you know you are on the home straight 😀

ilovecardigans · 09/11/2020 21:40

Good job, Tiny, roonetta & 'Algonquin*. 👌

I had a lovely day of utter sloth and piggery yesterday. Back to the grindstone today though...

30DS L1 D7 done 👍
NMTZ L7
Weighted glute bridges
Hula hooping (wheeee!)

jelly79 · 09/11/2020 22:29

'I just need a good chest fly in my life!'

Brilliant work out!

I have the DVD but tried to get on you tube when I couldn't find it but it's not there

ilovecardigans · 09/11/2020 23:07

'No you cannot' is a regular utterance in this house. But you have to say it in a Jillian stylee... 😁

OublietteBravo · 10/11/2020 08:28

We use Jillian as a verb in this household. As in “are you Jillianing tonight?” Grin

I did Ri30 L2D7 yesterday. One more day and then I’ll move up to L3.

TinyHouseFan · 10/11/2020 09:26

Everyone is doing great with the workouts. Has anyone noticed an increase in strength or stamina or any progress against other goals?

I think I have.. I am almost finished BR and I think if I did L1 of 30 DS which nearly killed me in May, that I'd be OK with it now. Not saying it would be easy but I think I'm fitter and stronger. I've started running again so maybe I have better stamina too.

Roonetta, WO12 done. I enjoyed 11 but it was tough, today was quite OK actually. I modified the plyo moves, just skip the jumping parts really, my knees and pelvic floor appreciate me for that I'm sure!Grin

AlgonquinBay · 10/11/2020 18:37

Hi everyone!

Day 6 of 30DS for me and I did L3 - not sure whether to have a rest day tomorrow or just plough on through. Will see how I feel.

Interested to know what BR and Ri30 are like @TinyHouseFan and @OublietteBravo ?Are the workouts still 20 minutes? Are they much harder or about the same as 30DS?

OublietteBravo · 10/11/2020 19:40

@AlgonquinBay - Ri30 is similar to 30DS. It still has the strength-cardio-abs structure, and still has 3 circuits per workout. However there are 3 strength moves in each circuit (instead of 2), so the workouts are a little bit longer than those in 30DS. Plus there are 4 levels (rather than just 3). It’s a good progression from 30DS IMO.

Just done Ri30 L2D8. Time to brave L3 (which I fear is the one with the evil duck walks).

ilovecardigans · 10/11/2020 23:02

We use Jillian as a verb in this household. As in “are you Jillianing tonight?”

Ha, ha! Excellent Jillianing today, Algonquin & Oubliette (good luck with evil L3 tomorrow). 👌

I've definitely noticed an improvement in my strength and endurance this time round, Tiny. My technique is better and I'm able to do more of the 'badass' Natalie moves (apart from jumping lunges, because I value my knees too much!). I think doing NMTZ has helped, because she recycles a lot of the exercises from 30DS and also because nothing is quite as horrific as NMTZ. If I never do 'surrenders' again for the rest of my days I will be a happy cardigan... 😁

How are you doing roonetta? Hope the pain is easing.

30DS (evil) L2 D8 done 👍
LISS - brisk 4.5 mile walk
Hula hooping while watching Bake Off...

roonetta · 11/11/2020 09:34

Wow, you guys are killing it at the moment! Well done everyone Star

I hear you about the pelvic floors Tiny! I have been known to pause Jillian and use the loo on occasion Blush

@AlgonquinBay - I loved Body Revolution. It's a great, fun programme that gets harder as it goes along. I have to admit to not loving the cardio part of it though and mostly did something else on cardio days. In fact, once I have finished Shred, I might do it again but just do each phase for 1 week rather than 2.

Yep Oubliette L3 = evil duck and bear walks - my nemesis.

I decided to give Jillian a go today as while the pain is still there, it is not as intense. Thought I would do L3 again today as that fits in with where I would have been. Managed to get through it doing it Anita style and obviously no jumping lunges. The only thing which caused me pain were the crunches, so I did standing crunches instead.

30DS L3 (D12) done Grin

TinyHouseFan · 11/11/2020 14:16

Al, I really like Body Revolution too. Each workout is progressive on the last and the cardio ones are good too. All about 30 minutes so easy to fit in.

Take it easy Roonetta, too much too soon and you could really hurt yourself.

I skipped this morning's cardio but planning a 7km run later.. if it stops lashing rain.Shock

AlgonquinBay · 11/11/2020 19:06

Right that's Body Revolution and Ripped in 30 on the list for when 30DS is over. Getting a bit ahead of myself really as I'm only a week in Grin

30DS L1 D7 done! Went for a 5 km run aswell so a good day.

OublietteBravo · 11/11/2020 19:59

Ooof. Just done my first day of Ri30 L3. That was hard. I think I’d deliberately forgotten how awful it was!

TinyHouseFan · 11/11/2020 20:02

7km done, my fastest yet, 40 minutes.
Inspired by Cardigans, I've convinced my neighbour that we can run a half marathon by Christmas Eve. That gives us 6 weeks.. We can both run 5-10km relatively comfortably, if slow so think it's achievable. That's my focus after I finish BR next week..

CalmConfident · 12/11/2020 07:52

Sorry to hear @roonetta hurt but good you are on road to recovery. Well done everyone

Did 7 min total body and 7 min abs today , back to 30DS tomorrow !

roonetta · 12/11/2020 12:14

Welcome back Calm! Glad you are feeling better.

Well done on the half marathon Tiny that sounds brilliant and great that you have someone doing it with you.

30DS L1 (D13) done

ilovecardigans · 12/11/2020 18:50

Well done on all the excellent Jillianing and running everyone! Great to see you back Calm. 😊

Good luck with the half marathon, Tiny. I don't think I've ever inspired anyone to do anything, ever! Are you planning to do the run on Christmas Eve itself?

Was led astray by chums on Skype last night (wine, wine and more wine... 🍷🍷🍷 oh dear), so didn't so my usual 30DS. I did walk 4.5 miles in the morning though, so at least I did something to offset the alcoholic carnage. 🙄 Back on it today though.

30DS L3 D9 done 👍
3 mile brisk walk

Note to self - it's sooo much harder with a hangover. Do not repeat this foolishness. 😒
