Back on 30 day shred after years of phoning it in at the gym. Just stepped up to level 2. It’s so hard 😭😭

Hope your arm and hip are getting better @CalmConfident and @ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson Flowers

roonetta · 07/10/2020 12:28

Did a cardio workout from FitOn today. Was actually Kenza from BR doing it. It was a tabata style workout and got my heart rate up. Not a fan of Jillian's cardio (can you tell? Grin) - too hard on my grumbling knee.

TinyHouseFan · 08/10/2020 08:38

Morning Roonetta, sounds like you're still giving it your all. I did a workout from YouTube on my holidays and I think it was Natalie. I think a lot of the "athletes" from BR are trainers in their own right now. (on a side note, I worked in LA for a couple of years about 20 years ago and I'm fairly sure David at the back of BR worked in the same hotel as me!)

WO5 done here. I skipped yesterday, I was up and in my runners at 6.30am but my husband had disconnected the TV download box - thingy so I was all flustered and just had my breakfast instead. Gotta try harder to stay focused when something is off plan.

roonetta · 08/10/2020 12:38

Ooh I didn't know Natalie had her own workouts. Grin at David working in the hotel. Jealous that you have even been to LA, let alone worked there!

I know what you mean about losing focus when something is off plan. It always puts me out because my mind is set on what time I am working out and what workout I am going to do, so when something upsets that, I get in a fluster too. I think I am afraid that if I don't keep up with the workouts, I will all too easily fall into the trap of not bothering and undo all my hard work.

Anyway, WO11 done today. That one is brutal Shock

roonetta · 10/10/2020 11:16

Rest day yesterday as in the office. WO12 done today.

TinyHouseFan · 10/10/2020 12:23

WO12, Roonetta, eek, so close to the end. I'm so jealous.. but as you say above, you're a planner. So what's next?
You need to set a plan now for the first day or so after BR so you have something to move straight into. Any ideas?

I'm thinking of doing it again, once more, just doing each 2 weeks once though, making it only a 6 week plan. That should get me to January 01st. No idea what then!!

Cardio 2 and a 10km run done here, first time in almost 10 years that I've done a 10km. My son is 8 and a half and I've done barely any running since I got pregnant with him. I used to do 10km training 5 mornings a week and usually a 10km race on Saturday before I had kids.

roonetta · 10/10/2020 13:46

Wow well done on doing cardio 2 and 10k! You are hardcore. I don’t think I have the stamina to do anything else after a Jillian cardio.

I like your idea of doing BR again once through. I have decided to start Body Shred and see how I get on. I have heard people need to modify a lot so will see what happens.

TinyHouseFan · 11/10/2020 14:57

Body Shred? I don't know that one, I'll look it up.
I was thinking of something for 30 or 60 days...

HermioneWeasley · 11/10/2020 14:59

Now that gyms are open again I’ve started doing body pump classes and I almost enjoy them!

Hi Hermione 😊

Body Shred is a 60 day programme which is supposed to be Jillian’s toughest workout Tiny. Would be a good one to do to take you up until Christmas

5 mile “Walk with Leslie” today in place of cardio 3.

HermioneWeasley · 11/10/2020 16:05

Hi @roonetta!

WO11 done

TinyHouseFan · 12/10/2020 12:49

WO7 done.. Ouch! Shoulders, arms, triceps and abs.. A lot of "supersets"...
... but I did it and that's one more done!

roonetta · 12/10/2020 16:23

Well done Tiny. I think workouts 7 and 11 are the hardest.

TinyHouseFan · 12/10/2020 20:34

I read a fitness blogger, who had done every one of JMs DVDs and she said BR is the best and WO7 was the one she found hardest. It's only one opinion so don't know how valid it is, but I was definitely in agreement with her this morning.. Grin

OublietteBravo · 12/10/2020 20:36

I’ve just started Ripped in 30. Hoping to finish it before the end of the year. Level 1 isn’t so bad. But IIRC Level 2 has an evil plank jack/mountain climbers cardio circuit. Not looking forward to that!

Todayisanewday75 · 13/10/2020 06:55

I did 30DS back when this thread started and I’m back on it again, day 2 today. I think it helped to keep my weight down during lockdown but it has started to creep up over the last month or so. So I’m hoping the shred will fix that (combined with cutting back on the wine!).

TinyHouseFan · 13/10/2020 09:09

Welcome back Oubliette and Today, nice to have some more shredders/JM fans.

I really liked 30DS so I definitely think I'll do that again. Maybe after Xmas..

As for Ripped, I actually think I'm afraid of that one! Blush

BR WO8 done here this morning. Much easier than WO7 yesterday...

roonetta · 13/10/2020 12:36

Hi Oubliette Smile - I found level 3 the hardest of Ripped and moved on from that level as quickly as I could.

Love the Shred Today - I would be interested to see how my fitness has improved since I last did it having done Ripped and Body Revolution after it.

BR WO12 done

OublietteBravo · 13/10/2020 20:04

Ri30 L1D2 - definitely feeling a bit stiff after yesterday.

TinyHouseFan · 14/10/2020 09:01

Really felt like staying in bed this morning, but managed to get up and get cardio 2 done. Still feeling the effects FROM WO7 on Monday though, so not looking forward to tomorrow morning..

Todayisanewday75 · 14/10/2020 09:13

30DS L1D3 today. I still struggle with the last strength exercise, side lunge with anterior raise, can only do it with 2kg weights even though I’m used to using heavier weights.

roonetta · 14/10/2020 13:44

I always struggle with that exercise Today and the chair squat with a v-raise is my nemesis. I think by the time you have got to the end as well, your arms have had it which doesn't help. Also, each set lasts for a minute in Shred, whereas with most other workouts of Jillian's it is only 30 seconds per set and I find that makes a real difference.

Well done on cardio2 Tiny. Still wimping out of Jillian's cardio and did a 4 mile "walk with Leslie" instead. Also having problems with my son starting secondary school so spent a lot of today trying to get him to go in which meant I really wasn't feeling like doing anything too strenuous.

OublietteBravo · 14/10/2020 19:57

The chair squat with a v rise is my nemesis move from 30DS too (in fact the whole 3rd circuit of level 2 is horrible).

Continuing on with Ri30 (L1D3). Nothing terrible, although the second set of running man seem to go on forever...

Todayisanewday75 · 15/10/2020 06:47

Oh god I’d forgotten about the chair sit with a V raise!

@roonetta my son started secondary school this term too. He wasn’t happy to start with but is settling in now, hopefully it’ll get better for your son too.
