Back on 30 day shred after years of phoning it in at the gym. Just stepped up to level 2. It’s so hard 😭😭

Oh no @TinyHouseFan how long do you think you will in lockdown for? That’s crap 😡

I am currently finding motivation because I am still WFH but I certainly struggle when I am in the office, so it will be interesting to see what happens when I am in the office full time again. I am also trying to get to a certain weight and am a way off my ideal weight so this is pushing me to keep going. I am also enjoying BR and that helps. Once I reach my ideal weight, I won’t be looking to workout every day and will probably drop down to 3-4 days a week and only do the workouts I enjoy.

roonetta · 22/09/2020 12:19

WO9 yesterday and WO10 today. 10 was HARD! I had to modify lots but hoping to improve.

TinyHouseFan · 22/09/2020 13:16

Well done Roonetta!! Level 10..feels like that's a long way away for me. I did Workout 4 this morning.

We're not in full lockdown, just heavy restrictions. At least the schools are still open so the kids are OK. My office is closed to most of us until at least January 2021 so I have no commute to deal with this winter so I should be able to exercise more.

TinyHouseFan · 22/09/2020 13:18

I've been listening to a few podcasts lately and the advice on habits is to build a tiny one, like one squat every time you boil the kettle or touch your toes once when you get out of bed or something like that. You do it, cos it's small and easy and then you feel good so you do it again or do more.

You can add more some days if you have time, or feel fitter, etc but you do the tiny thing every day. Makes sense...

TinyHouseFan · 23/09/2020 08:43

Cardio 1 done and... Hit my target weight! 9 stone, 0 lbs this morning!!

Right, now the challenge becomes maintaining this. The best way I've found is a decent sized bowl of fruit and granola for breakfast, some lentils or bean stew for lunch and then soup or salad for dinner. That way of eating most of the time me as I can have a take out or a few drinks every now and then and not gain much /any weight.

Dial focus is also on getting fitter. I'm going to finish BR, then pick a new goal in 2021.

TinyHouseFan · 23/09/2020 08:43

Not dial, duel focus!

roonetta · 23/09/2020 12:21

Well done Tiny on your goal weight! I can't wait to get there but have at least another stone to go. I like the advice on creating habits. Maybe I will try to do 1 push up a day and see what happens.

Cardio 3 done today. Hmmm, I am not sure about this one. Lots of plyo work but she has done each exercise for 20 seconds so it almost feels like you don't have enough time to do them properly, and some she misses out altogether or does in a different order the second and third goes round. It felt a bit all over the place to me. Managed to get my heart rate up to 182 though, so it got me out of puff!

TinyHouseFan · 24/09/2020 11:30

Morning Roonetta.

Cardio 3 doesn't sound too inviting.. I'm glad that it's still a few weeks away for me. There's usually something in every workout that I miss the form of, or can't quite coordinate so I end up just repeating the previous thing.

WO 3 done here again this morning for the last time..

roonetta · 24/09/2020 17:25

Actually Tiny cardio 3 was easier than 2, but just confusing 😂

WO9 done ✅ the only move I can’t master are the rock ‘n roll crunches (I think that’s what they’re called) where you start standing, sit down, roll backwards and come back to a standing position. I can never get back up, even using my hands! Any tips greatly appreciated.

I also got attacked by my cat while doing plank jack push ups but still soldiered on. She attacked my head as I was lowering down 🤣

roonetta · 26/09/2020 12:44

WO10 done ✅

roonetta · 27/09/2020 15:05

No Jillian cardio for me today, I am aching too much from WO10 which is a good sign I suppose. Did a 4 mile “Walk with Leslie” instead.

roonetta · 28/09/2020 11:29

WO9 done

roonetta · 29/09/2020 12:27

WO10 done

roonetta · 29/09/2020 12:28

It's quiet on here - hope everyone is okay?

TinyHouseFan · 29/09/2020 14:19

Hello Roonetta Smile

I'm back, missed a few days, but back to WO5 for the first time (this time). Not too bad. I quite liked W04 actually so may go back to that after I'm done.
On a related note, I can now do three full chins ups!

I'm afraid I can't help with either exercise or cat wrangling tips but well done you for pushing on through both.

TinyHouseFan · 29/09/2020 14:20

I'm still struggling with daily motivation now that I've hit my goal weight. I'm thinking of maybe trying to lose a few more lbs, so I have a small margin to have some less strict days. But if I do that, I think I'll definitely need to workout on those days..

roonetta · 30/09/2020 11:40

Well done on the chin ups Tiny that's impressive! Your upper body strength must be good.

I find I am more motivated if I am doing a program and have something to work towards. Having said that, I am taking an unplanned rest day today. I think all the plyo stuff in workouts 9 and 10 have made my knee complain, so giving it a break today.

TinyHouseFan · 30/09/2020 13:09

Hi, I think listening to your body and taking rest days is a very good idea. Nothing worse than pushing too much, getting hurt then having to stop.

WO6 done here today.. My shoulders know all about it!

roonetta · 01/10/2020 13:46

Hope your shoulders weren't too sore Tiny - is WO6 the one with all the cable work?

WO9 done - I can't remember whether it's the last WO9? Will check back on here. If it is, it has gone extremely quick!

TinyHouseFan · 03/10/2020 13:25

Keep going Roonetta, I can't remember WO 9 but I think I was enjoying it-until I gave up!

Cardio 2 and 5km run done here..

roonetta · 03/10/2020 16:26

Last WO10 done ✅ Those two weeks flew by. Cardio3 tomorrow and then onto the final two weeks!! I have really enjoyed this programme.

TinyHouseFan · 03/10/2020 21:22

Nearly there then... What's next? Are you going to do something else, some other JM, stop and relax?!

roonetta · 04/10/2020 12:38

Not really sure what to do next, but I think it will have to be another programme to keep me motivated. I might have a look at Bodyshred. Any recommendations?

TinyHouseFan · 06/10/2020 09:35

I'm not the best for tips, I've only done JM. I liked 30DS as it kinda forced me to do 30 days in a row. But I did that as a complete beginner so I don't know would I find it too easy to do again? Also, could be boring doing the same thing over and over.

I did WO5 yesterday and WO6 this morning. Gonna try and run 5km twice a week too when my son is at football training. I can just run laps around the pitch while he trains.

roonetta · 06/10/2020 11:57

Thanks Tiny. I started out with 30DS too. I remember when I came back from my hols this year, to get back into things I did level 1 of 30DS thinking it would be easy but it kicked my ass! Once I have finished BR, I might try each level of the Shred to see how much I have progressed (or not).

I loved WO5 and 6, I think they were my favourite, although I have to say I did enjoy WO12 today (apart from the wheel which I could not and will not ever be able to do). WO11 however...well that's just ridiculous.

WO12 done.
