Back on 30 day shred after years of phoning it in at the gym. Just stepped up to level 2. It’s so hard 😭😭

I skipped the whole weekend Blush. And I made steak with roast potatoes for dinner tonight. There may also have been gin before dinner and wine with it. Back on it tomorrow... On the plus side, I've been tracking what I eat since the start of lockdown and have managed to lose five pounds, even though I've been less active than usual.

Congratulations, TinyHouseFan!

CalmConfident · 07/06/2020 20:49

I skipped too!!!! Despite @TinyHouseFan this morning. I even had a magnum Blush

TinyHouseFan · 08/06/2020 08:11

I'm very jealous of magnums, prosecco, roast potatoes, etc, but I resisted and had a green smoothie and veg soup..
We had an Indian takeaway on Friday and I was up 2 lbs all weekend. Back down this morning but it shows what one meal can do.

Started workout 1 of Body Revolution this morning, pretty easy and very similar to 30 Day Shred. Apparently it gets harder as you move through the weeks- but I never thought I'd be saying a workout was easy!

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 08/06/2020 09:32

Lift & Shred L2D3 done. Too much jumping, I preferred L1 as it was easier to increase the weights.

CalmConfident · 08/06/2020 11:18

I was supposed to be up early...but managed to sleep through both shred slot AND my 8.30am work meeting ShockBlush

ThankYouDebbie · 08/06/2020 11:45

Y'all need to get the Jillian Michael's app. I'm in my second year of paying for it. You get sll the DVDs she's done on there, plus other guided programmes, or you can generate a workout (but I find them too soulless, not enough classic Jillian bantz Grin )

GeraldTippett · 08/06/2020 13:34

debbie is the app worth it if I have all the dvds? Is there anything extra that you get?

I've just done BFBM and what annoys me is that there are loads of rest breaks in the ab circuit but it's probably the one circuit where you don't actually need a break. Why can't she put all the breaks in the last 2 circuits when I feel like I'm going to die?

Well done to you Tiny for being so controlled with your food this weekend. I need to re-commit to healthy eating. This week has gone a bit crazy so far as the food goes... I'm certainly not acting like a person trying to lose weight. Though I am pleased I've kept up with the exercising

HermioneWeasley · 08/06/2020 14:09

Ooo I’d be interested to know if the app is worth it too

Oh Natalie. Not even gay but I fancied you!

Todayisanewday75 · 08/06/2020 14:53

6W6P L1D1 today and it really wasn’t that bad. I struggled with the side plank with knee raise initially until I realised they were on their hand whereas I was on my elbow (as in shred level 3) which made it virtually impossible.

I’m doing pretty well on the food front, just need to do better on the wine front. Tiny I suspect the weight gain from the Indian was water, I think you need to eat an extra 7000 calories to gain 2lbs of fat.

GeraldTippett · 08/06/2020 16:09

today I think the T-stand with kick in L2 is actually easier than the side plank with kick in L1. I just couldn't hold myself in that position on one arm for that length of time. The L2 move is dynamic but you're alternating arms each time which I find less intense (and less likely that my shoulder and wrist will give out!). In fact I've started doing the T stand move in NMTZ too where it's a side plank with hip raises (I find that one tough too)

CalmConfident · 08/06/2020 16:32

Tell me more about the app!

ThankYouDebbie · 08/06/2020 16:37

I like the app because I use my phone to bring up videos on YouTube and I was wasting too much time with the connection, this way it's more convenient because it's all sitting on my phone.

You can track your weight and stuff like that, and she gives you a recommended diet for each day but I've never followed that part (I normally do the 5:2 instead). I saw some criticism online that her diets are really low calorie, even if you don't need to lose weight.

At the moment I'm following Body Revolution, which is the 3-month programme from the Biggest Loser. Reading all of your comments about 30DS (which I did about 4 years ago), I'm thinking that I'm not working hard enough!

GeraldTippett · 08/06/2020 19:55

debbie if you have the dvds rather than relying on youtube or whatever, is it worth it? I am sort of following a modified 5:2 myself so probably wouldn't bother with the meal plans- particularly if they rely on American food/products/measurements

CalmConfident · 08/06/2020 20:31

L3 D7 done ✅

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 08/06/2020 20:41

Hi can I join? I had my first go at NMTZ this afternoon and have survived Grin

I run a lot and have pretty decent cardiovascular fitness but I am weak as a cooked noodle - esp my upper body. I’ve been working on it all with beginner weights workouts from YouTube since lockdown started and thought it was about time I started something serious. I would LOVE to be able to do proper push ups.

You lot are really inspiring. I’ve been lurking and reading so I thought I’d say hi 👋🏻

ThankYouDebbie · 08/06/2020 22:27

@GeraldTippett I would probably leave it then.... until and unless you got bored of those and wanted different Jillian. If you're happy rotating them around then keep going. I mix it up with a bit of yoga and running too. I only use her stuff 2 or 3 times a week (or not at all like today when I'm too hungover from the weekend Blush )

Todayisanewday75 · 09/06/2020 07:21

CalmConfident the end is in sight!

L3 D8 done ✅

Thanks @Today!

CalmConfident · 09/06/2020 07:34

Welcome @MikeHannigansStripyShirt Smile

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 09/06/2020 08:39

Thank you!

I’m a bit achy, but in a good way this morning Smile

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 09/06/2020 08:54

Welcome MikeHannigansStripyShirt! I also have no upper body strength but have eventually worked up to full sets of push-ups thanks to JM.

Killer Cardio L2D3 done.

Melassa · 09/06/2020 11:29

For upper body strength I found yoga very useful, all those chattarangas (sp). My press ups have greatly improved since I started yoga sessions online, even compared to my first round of JM years ago when I was younger and fitter.

GeraldTippett · 09/06/2020 11:52

Hi Mike straight into the deep end with NMTZ! I've done the whole of Six Week Six Pack but think that the first ab circuit in NMTZ is the toughest ab workout there is. By the time I get to the bicycle crunches I'm in agony!

HermioneWeasley · 09/06/2020 18:50

L3 D5 ✅

Welcome Mike
